The Sherlock Holmes Collection
The Sherlock Holmes Collection: Slip-Cased Set | Arthur Conan Doyle
17 posts | 26 read | 1 reading | 6 to read
This box set collects together all of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories in six volumes. The drug-addled, anti-social sleuth has become one of the most iconic characters in fiction and the tales collected here will entertain readers today just as much as when they were first published in the late 19th Century. The novels are collected into two volumes in the order they were originally published.

#lilithjuly @Cinfhen @KarenUK We can all picture the infamous Sherlock Holmes in our minds, similar to the pictures above. What‘s interesting is in the original stories, he never actually wore #thehat that everyone thinks of.

KarenUK I love little nuggets of trivia like that! 👍💕 4mo

Happy Sherlock Holmes Day! Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born today in 1859 in Edinburgh. Sherlock Holmes began my love of Victorian literature, and I‘m extremely thankful for that.🖤🕵🏻‍♂️🖤

It has officially been three weeks as of yesterday, since I have gotten tattoo number 4. This quote stood out in my mind when I was reading (and re-reading) my favorite series with my favorite detective. As my life has unfolded, I realized that these words are even truer than I realized. So, I decided to share with my #Litsy family, my #literarytattoo ❤️🖤😱🔎💡📚🐛

I've always enjoyed the Sherlock Holmes stories and Stephen Fry' s narration of this audio version makes it even more so. This Audible version also includes introductory essays by Fry that are somewhat enlightening.
Caveat: I would listen to Stephen Fry read the phonebook with bated breath.
Confession: I actually prefer the TV versions, Jeremy Brett's being the paragon, as in the stories, Holmes is sometimes a bit of a condescending bore.

Henrik_Madsen Holmes is a classic but I found I should not read too many stories on a row. The secret method becomes a bit too much - and might the breadcrumps not sometimes lead to a different conclusion? 🤔 2y
Azar Yes to Stephen Fry reading the phone book and a definite yes to Jeremy Brett. I loved him as Holmes! 2y
Swe_Eva @Henrik_Madsen They do tend to blend a lot when you read many back-to-back. This collection I've listened to on and off for a while, but Fry is such a great reader I tend to click "next" every time I'm done with one. ? 2y
Gezemice I loved this one, just recently finished it. I agree, I am not sure I would gave stuck with it if it was not read by Fry, or at least I would have taken bigger breaks in between, because I agree with @Henrik_Madsen that it can get a bit repetitive. But Fry is awesome. 1y
Swe_Eva @Gezemice Fry is the best! 1y

Planning out my list for #litsyclassics 2018 challenge and this monster counts as like 8 books right?!? 🤣 Stephen Fry tho. I could listen to him read my cereal box. 😘

Ms_T Seventy-two hours! 😯 2y
Sarah83 My Sherlock edition counts nine books, but it depends on the publisher. 😉 2y
MatchlessMarie @Sarah83 No you‘re right. There is nine. I miscounted in my haste 😜 2y
Sarah83 Sounds great. I read them all two years ago. 😍 2y
