Why hadn't I read anything by Lisa Kleypas before this one?! I truly loved this little book. I loved all of the characters, but especially (of course!) Mark. I was expecting a Christmas story, which is is not, since the book starts in September, thought it does end on Christmas Eve. But never mind, because I got a wonderful feel good story that made me tear up at the end. Now I have got to find the rest of this series!

Started this tonight and not very far in but I can already tell I‘m going to love it.

This is a quick, cute romance, where Christmas only factors in toward the end. Hunky bachelor becomes guardian for his orphaned niece, who wants a mom for Christmas. Enter the sweet, widowed heroine, and novel meets Hallmark movie. Not great literature, but the diversion I needed. No holly where we live, but saw these berries on this morning‘s walk.

This has been on my Kindle forever, and I wanted a lighter, holiday read. Plus, I‘ve been to the San Juan Islands, where this is set. One of the most beautiful places I‘ve ever been, it‘s nice to be able to picture the locale and it brings back fantastic memories.

This was a bit more on the romantic side than the usual romance books I read, but must admit to loving the characters and the storyline. Quite a short book but plenty of wordsearch points as a character‘s name was Holly 🤣 Although Christmas in the title that was only a very small part of the book at the end.

Jumping straight into my next book for #WinterReadathon. A short book by Lisa Kleypas. A new author to me so not sure what to expect but keeps the Christmas theme going.

I just didn't care for this book. Hardly any of it is set around Christmas. It also didn't feel very romantic. I did like the idea behind the story, but that's about it. I guess this book just wasn't meant for me.

Not my usual read but it was cute. After the death of his sister Mark becomes the guardian of her six year old daughter. Meets a woman who owns a toy shop. I think you can see where this is going. Felt like a hallmark movie - sweet, with Christmas spirit and light fun. Quick read

If you are looking for a sweet feel good story then this is one for you. Not surprisingly this story is now a Hallmark movie. The story is about a girl whose mother dies when she is six. Her mother was a single parent; therefore, her uncle is now her guardian. They live with her other uncle and together the two brothers work to raise her. She wants a mother so she asks Santa for one. As I said, sweet, a little sappy and predictable. 3.5 ⭐

A lovely romance story. There were a few things at the beginning that bugged me, like the stereotyping. But overall a nice solid love story. I enjoyed the setting (Seattle area). Basically a Hallmark movie in book form.

Sweet romance, but no real development of relationships or individuals. It just seemed rushed to me. They have to make out before Christmas. To me, slow and steady wins the race.

This was a quick, sweet read. I could have done without Shelby - she was unnecessary in my opinion. Mark could have come to the same realizations without throwing a girlfriend into the mix and we saw so little of Shelby that she was fairly one dimensional. I also felt like the ending was very rushed on this one. * ⬇️

But I did like Holly, Maggie and Mark and would read more about them.

I didn't realize Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor was the book for the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie Christmas With Holly. Once I started listening I recognized it right away. Recommended!

I am normally not a huge fan of the romance genre, but I really enjoyed this one. It was a sweet story with like-able characters and a great setting. Just an FYI- Christmas doesn‘t really make an appearance until the very end of the book, but that doesn‘t take anything away from the story.

I needed a short Christmas read to help me enjoy the holidays and get in the spirit. This was lovely and touched some personal notes for me right now. Plus I have a soft spot for romance novels with cute pets and cute kids and this had both.

As a bonus, I have included one of my Christmas presents, a handmade, hand painted dragon named Pearl that my little brother made for me.
