I love her characters and scene setting. This one was particularly fun because it had several adult character storylines that overlapped but were not combined. It was fun to see their individual stories.
This had the comfortable feel of Elin‘s Nantucket stories with characters I know as though they are my own neighbors, but pointy tips on stars fell off until it became a so-so. This wasn‘t a cozy murder mystery where things that otherwise wouldn‘t be funny just are. Writing Eddie as a dude who, with best of intentions, exploited Russian immigrants into a sex ring just didn‘t work for me.

Predictable and unimaginative novel about gossip, too simple, too obvious...
I really enjoyed this book! I think I liked it so much because I read the Winter Street series last month and the main characters in this book were secondary in that series. It was interesting to know the stories behind those characters even though I did know the outcome. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Juicy! A quintessential beach read from Hilderbrand, powered by entertaining bad decisions and the Nantucket rumor mill. I do wish that I'd known to read this before the Winter series though, because this read like a prequel for some crossover characters that I happened to already knew the outcome for, but still solid entertainment! 🏖
4⭐️ A nice light read; really helped to not make me think about our current situation. Characters are well developed throughout the book and can see some change in. #ebook #fiction #beachread #2020 #litsyatoz2020 #litsyatoz #r
This is my favorite Hilderbrand novel so far! I honestly usually find her books fairly ho-hum, but this one was juicy fun! Still the standard Nantucket rich white people problems, but the problems were much more interesting. Great beach read! 🏖🏖🏖
I‘ve been listening to this one today, probably my last summery read of the year. 🏖
I‘m usually a fan of this author. Not this time. Russian prostitution, affairs, arrogant wealth. Just ugh. I wouldn‘t have finished it but I‘m not that person. Just be warned. It‘s not her usual book.
What‘s the audio equivalent of a page turner? I zoomed through this in just a couple of days and while I think it wrapped up too quickly, overall, this had me hooked from chapter 1.
Just finished. Not my favorite #Hilderbrand but that's a v high bar. 1. Fiction 2. Betrayal 3. Local story 4. Rumors 5. regret
This was a super steamy summer read. It was reminiscent of Desperate Housewives which I loved so much and miss! The characters all live their lives to spread gossip and as the reader we get to find out every juicy tidbit firsthand. This was super fun! #booked2018 #beachread
This was a quick, summer reading kind of book but it was just ok for me. The "rumors" chapters were an interesting way to drive the story, and I liked that one of the main characters was an author struggling to write a new bestseller, but the resolution was a little unbelievable. Also, there were a lot of character names, like Brick and Aurora, that made me feel like this was an episode of The Bold and The Beautiful instead of a realistic novel.
Finished this book while on my cruise last week. I love Elin Hilderbrand books. They are definitely the perfect beach/vacations reads!

Just counted, 14 books on the table next to my recliner.....started this one, 168 pages in and want to keep going! Hope to step up my game in April and get more books read!
This was fun to read (listen to) driving through the rural countryside to and from a satellite campus almost every day. Hildebrand managed wry so well, and the readers didn't spoil it.
My fave pov was Nantucket's...how easy it is for something perfectly innocent to be seen as salacious. Definitely well worth the read. 5⭐
It's time to lighten up with my audio books, so I chose this one for the drive. Amazingly, between my shower and errands, I'm already 1:17 done! I may have to select a second audio book to get me through the week.
The struggle is real (giggling). I just wish I could listen to books while grading papers. That just doesn't work, darn it.
This is a good one, each chapter told from the perspective of one character. It's set in Nantucket, which I 💕
I‘m sure I won‘t read an entire book tomorrow (having just finished one tonight), so here are my October reads. #swensonreads
Favorites: Salt to the Sea, Seven Husbands... the others were all pretty good!
This book was full of flawed characters who are so human. Normally, I might not care for characters who make the choices that these characters do, but this book was just so juicy; the reader feels like they shouldn't be participating, but it's too fun not to. In the end, I cared what happened to them. Fun, light, fast. Perfect end of summer read.
After The Light Between the Oceans, I need something much lighter. Trying to get 1000 pages read in a week for a #DeweysReadathon challenge, so a light & quick book off of my shelves is the way to go.
So-so read. Entertaining, yes. Memorable, not really.
On to the next one!
Survived first week of school, half way through the second. Finally finding some time to get back to my first love...reading❤️
Having enjoyed The Identicals, I read another of Elin Hildebrand's books, The Rumor. Good book not great. I intend to read more of her work in the future. #moreSummerreads
Reading in the tub; never with library books. I learned that the hard way. Today I am being smart, used book donated to me by a friend. 🛀🏻
I'm really behind on reading Elin Hilderbrand's stuff, but it always looks so intriguing. #iheardarumor #augustgrrrl
The perfect beach read that didn't make it to the beach with me last week because the hardback copy didn't fit in my suitcase. Oh well! On my couch with Almost Famous - a huge favorite - playing on the 📺 for background noise is a close second. #SUMMERGIVEAWAY @Liberty
This was the perfect book to end my summer!! It was full of drama and scandal, and in case you couldn't figure, rumors. Very entertaining! 😁
Any Elgin Hilderbrand reminds me of summer☀️☀️☀️#SWEETSUMMERSTACK @Liberty
A good, clean, and simple read with a few gut-wrenching moments. Poor baby.
These two sure look at #homebythesea and I wish I could join them. I had forgotten I had this beach read, and I haven't gotten a chance to read it, yet, but I'll wait until I can at least be poolside since I have no beach! #rockinmay

It's a whopping 7 degrees today in NW Kansas with snow on the ground. I received this book from a stranger as a part of a Facebook book exchange and haven't yet read it. Perhaps it will make me feel some warmth on this bitter cold day.
This was a great book to reintroduce myself to the world of reading after a long semester of student teaching. Also excited for my first Litsy post!
Fact combined with speculation become rumor on Nantucket and the lives of everyone involved are changed. While not my favorite Elin Hilderbrand it is a solid summer, lazy weekend, beach read with the right combination of romance, friendship, and betrayal.
Meh. Not good, not bad...just meh. A fair summer read, held my interest to see it through to the end.
Sometimes I get sick of the back and forth POV...maybe I read this too soon after Modern Lovers! But it is the perfect read while getting my nails done!
