#litsyatoz This one is the titles list - I‘m trying not to have any that are already on my author list. The only one was Red Clocks by Leni Zumas, but I‘ve just found The Return by Victoria Hislop on my TBR shelf....

I also have Killers of the Flower Moon and Z, A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald..... ( found in a secondhand shop on our York #litsymeetup)...

So, ideas for great books beginning with J, V and X (eek!) please....

Itchyfeetreader The joy luck club by Amy tan is on my TBR. 6y
squirrelbrain Thanks @Itchyfeetreader - I have The Bonesetter‘s Daughter on my TBR shelf, but not The Joy Luck Club.... 6y

squirrelbrain Thanks @Lcsmcat - looks fab! 6y
ptkpepe98 For J, there is 6y
ptkpepe98 Another one is 6y
ptkpepe98 For V, but it's in my TBR, so I don't know if it. 6y
ptkpepe98 You have your Z, but if you want an option, is really good if you like non fiction. 6y
squirrelbrain Amazing @ptkpepe98 - so many great ideas! 6y
ptkpepe98 Haha...did I mention I love to read, @squirrelbrain ?📚📖 6y
Bookzombie I read this one for X last year. 6y
squirrelbrain Thanks @Bookzombie - I‘d not heard of that one before. 6y

#litsyatoz Only 4 more to go.... any ideas for great books with authors beginning with U, V, X and Y?

This is the author list - title list to follow.....

IamIamIam I have this on my TBR as a backup for my Y. 😄🍌 6y
Itchyfeetreader Only ones jumping to mind right now are John Updike of Nicola Yoon. I read a book by Richard Zimler which I would not recommend but he does have some others that seem highly rated 6y
wanderinglynn The only author with X I have in my goodreads book list is 6y
See All 13 Comments
wanderinglynn For V, there‘s Kurt Vonnegut or Jules Verne. I don‘t have any U authors. 6y
squirrelbrain Thanks @wanderinglynn - some great ideas! I haven‘t read any Vonnegut and I may have read Jules Verne, but a loooong time ago! 6y
squirrelbrain Thank you @IamIamIam - looks interesting...! 🍌🍌 6y
squirrelbrain @Itchyfeetreader - I‘ve not heard of Nicola Yoon (is that really bad of me?!j but just looked her up and the books look fab - thank you! 📖 6y
squirrelbrain Wow @Kristy_K thanks for the great ideas! 6y
Smrloomis I really liked Paul Yoon‘s Snow Hunters. 6y
squirrelbrain Thanks @Smrloomis - looks intriguing! 6y

⭐️⭐️⭐️ It‘s taken me way to long to finish this book! I finally forced myself to sit still long enough to finish so I can return it and mark it if my reading list. This is a fun book with weird tidbits like this list of ways to exit a library. I‘m partial to #10 😂😂😂 Although I‘d like to think I live dangerously enough that #6 would be an option 🤣

jillrhudy I like #4 but if you are waving nervously at me at the Reference desk on the way out, I wonder what you‘re up to. 6y
RebelGrrrl We had a guy exit the library once with his personal speakers blasting some dreadful song, and of course he used the stairs so the obnoxious music got louder and louder the closer he got to the 1st floor and he just acted like he was the king of the world or something. So annoying 6y
Chelleo @RebelGrrrl He had his own theme music? 😂😂😂 6y

Awhile back I posted a pic of me dropping off and picking up books at my local public library‘s drive-thru window. I had no idea that my hometown library was the first to establish this convenient feature! Way to go #PLCHC

Leftcoastzen Wow that‘s cool. 6y

I‘m a public librarian! #thankstolibrarians

1. Lunch rush and dinner rush and opening queue up to be the 1st person to get the newspapers
2. I‘m in charge of programming for 18+ year olds and am starting to add programs other than book discussions. My staff also do one on one technology help.
3. Yes - for babies, toddlers and preschoolers
4. Staff picks! Also the most used. We had to expand it to a second floor (my dept is on two floors)
...con‘t

IamIamIam Oh my GAWD, I absolutely NEED the tagged book!!!!!! 6y
Librarybelle 5. The kids area has discussions for kids of all ages. I currently run two for adults - Mystery and Historical fiction. We‘re reading Finding Nouf for mystery and Girl Waits with Gun for historical. 6. Yes - incorporating it somehow into Summer Reading this year and maybe a local top books. 7. Theme is music oriented - Libraries Rock. See above answer! 8. No, but... 6y
Librarybelle ...patrons can do purchase requests. 9. Three week checkout for everything, except 90 day paperbacks, and we‘re currently changing the renewal limits in the next few months. 10. Let‘s just say there‘s a lot of zeroes. 11. Yes! Bestselling and local authors. Laura Lippman visited last year. Christina Baker Kline is coming in September... 6y

Librarybelle 12. “Adult DVDs? You mean you guys have porn?” “What do you mean I need to give you my name to get a library card? Can‘t I just take the books I want?” So many, many more stories. Let‘s meet up for drinks sometime, or wait until I write my book! 6y
Librarybelle @IamIamIam 📚❤️ 6y
Kaye Thanks @Librarybelle It certainly sounds like you are so enthused about your job. That‘s great. What kind of turnout do you get for the discussion groups ? They have pretty tiny ones in our local libraries. Funny questions. As if a library would offer porn videos. Geez ! Is your library in a small town or large ? 6y
Librarybelle @Kaye I have my hands in so many things at the library, I could probably talk everyone to death. We have a very good turnout for both adult discussions - I have a core group of 8 of us for mystery, with a few people who are hit or miss, and I think I‘m up to 8-10 regulars for historical fiction. I‘m in a small town, Gettysburg, so small but many tourists and lots of foot traffic. 6y
Kaye That‘d be such a neat place to do historical book discussions . That‘s a good turnout too. The ones around here seem to have trouble getting off the ground. Not sure why. I have high hopes for our library downtown. The head librarian is retiring and they e hired a younger girl in her early 40s I‘d guess. She ALWAYS has a book recommendation for you. She‘s quite the reader herself so maybe she‘ll get more things like that going. 6y
Librarybelle @Kaye Hopefully she will! 6y

I love this list, @MallenNC ! I‘ve read a few, have several already on my tbr list, and the others look great. I‘ll have to print out the list and plot my plan of attack for April. #FreakyFriday

MallenNC I‘m glad you like it! I like your list too. I have read some of them, and liked them, so I think it will be a good match. I am working on a priority plan for April. 6y

I spent most of today updating my excel spread sheet of my owned books. I put ALL my books on there physical, audio, and ebooks. Yes it took most of the day. I finally finished and the last book landed on number 1022. Most of my books are physical copies mostly because I‘m a tactical person. I think I might have a problem. Lol #bookhoarder

Soubhiville I don‘t see the problem. 📚❤️🤪 6y
SilversReviews Love it! 6y

GondorGirl I'm at 1699. We don't have problems. Not at all. 😋 6y
Lupa08 1022 is a lovely number! Why shouldn't we reach it (several times over)? 6y
OrangeMooseReads @GondorGirl nope no problems 😁 @Lupa08 I agree 6y
Lcsmcat No problem at all. We‘re at 2669 here. ☺️ 6y
WorldsOkayestStepMom We just finished cataloging our fiction books that are in the house and hit 917. This doesn't include my ebooks, any non-fiction, and the mixture of books in storage. 6y
Ddzmini Yep it‘s not hoarding it‘s collecting and knowledge seeking 😝📚📚📚 6y
OrangeMooseReads @EH.12 that‘s a lot of fiction 👍🏼 6y
OrangeMooseReads @Ddzmini I agree. It‘s not hoarding if it‘s books 📚😁 6y
GlassAsDiamonds No problem at all but I‘m very impressed that you counted! I‘m never doing so again, unless another Customs official makes me...😊 6y
OrangeMooseReads @GlassAsDiamonds only counter because excel numbers each row 😁 I don‘t know if I would want to physically count. 6y
GlassAsDiamonds @OrangeMooseReads *nods* that does, somehow, make it much better. 😊😊😊(still no problem though! Perfectly reasonable book collecting 😊). 6y

Working hard to organize my reading challenge plans for 2017... so much fun, but my head hurts a little now! Going to try 5 challenges this year: Litsy Bingo, Litsy A-Z, Modern Mrs.Darcy's Read for Growth and Read for Fun, and Book Root's Read Harder. Phew! That's 99 books... not sure if it'll happen as I don't have very many overlaps. We'll see! Many of them are from my TBR list. Better get reading!

Mdargusch Very ambitious, but it sounds like fun! 7y
CocoReads I'm doing those as well plus popsugars challenge. I think I have plenty of overlaps but I've only done enough planning to give me some options. Anything more makes my head hurt. I do think it'll be a fantastic reading year though! 7y
merelybookish That's awesome. Good luck. 7y

saresmoore You can do it! 7y
Cinfhen I'm trying to do a bunch too but I have found lots of overlaps! 99 books is HUGE🙌🏻it is going to be a fun reading year😀 7y
Redjewel_7734 I'm going challenge crazy for 2017 too. I'm going to the #ReadHarder challenge, the #LitsyAtoZ challenge, the #birthdaychallenge, #Litsyreadingchallenge & I'm setting a reading goal of 100 books! Yay to reading ☺ 7y
christineandbooks @Redjewel_7734 I probably shouldn't ask this...But what is the birthday challenge? 7y
Redjewel_7734 @christineandbooks it's a challenge I just found on Litsy where you start with your birth year & read a book published that year, then work your way to the present chronologically reading a book published each year since you were born ☺ (edited) 7y
christineandbooks @Redjewel_7734 Wow. That's a big one... I think I will pass on that... 😱 7y
TheCanuckReader @christineandbooks I'm doing the same challenges for 99 books and combining it with a 100 book total in Goodreads! 7y
christineandbooks @TheCanuckReader Yay! We can do this! 7y
TheCanuckReader I'm happy to cheer each other on! Still planning some of my reads but trying to leave some open and all in pencil until I actually read them...lol 7y
Cortg Those are some serious reading goals! I'm sure you can do it! 7y
Desha Awesome! You can do i! ☺️ I'm attempting Litsy A to Z, Litsy Reading Challenge (Bingo), and Book Riots Read Harder. Mostly from my TBR pile lol 😜 I thought about adding Modern Mrs. Darcy too but I think I have my hands full with those three!! Good luck and Happy Reading 2017! ❤️🎉🎊🎉❤️😍 7y

So this is what I call my TBR but I'm realising that's not quite what it is.
I have 117 notebook pages like this. 😱It started when I worked as a student in a library and couldn't keep up with all the good books I saw. I had to start writing them down for potential future reading. Book madness! Still I love my list - all lists really. Are you a list addict?

BookishFeminist 😂 I will be truly surprised if I see anything more amazing than this today. 117 pages! I love lists too & wish I had the stamina to keep one like this! 7y
Centique @BookishFeminist thank you! This is the last 17 years worth of list making so it shows my age! 7y
Leniverse I kept a spreadsheet for years (not as many as 17!). New purchases and books borrowed. Books read by month. E-books or print. Then I discovered Goodreads. For a while I kept double records, but then I got lazy. I use only Goodreads now, but I feel like I should create a backup. 7y
See All 17 Comments
Centique @Leniverse I love spreadsheets too ☺️ If Goodreads had been around back then I would have done the same. 7y
I-read-and-eat I just started a book journal today. Book I read this month, TBR, books I've bought. Curious to find out if I can keep it up. I love lists but always seen to give up after a month or so 7y
Notafraidofwords @BookishFeminist I totally agree. This is impressive ! 7y
Mccall0113 Wow! Life goals! 7y
Foxyfictionista I love lists! I've got a spreadsheet that I use in conjunction with Goodreads. 7y
BeththeBookDragon I'm a list nut! 7y
TrishB Wow 😀 fab. I just have one for books read! 7y
Centique @I-read-and-eat good luck! @TrishB I only started recording the books I read last year. It's been so useful though - should've started earlier! 7y
Centique @Foxyfictionista @bethfriedman906 listy Litsy kindred spirits! 7y
charl08 Great list! 7y
oonaghmoon Wow, what an incredible list! 7y
RadicalReader @Centique much more partial to writing lists on paper with pen as opposed to typing them to store in a phone. Irony I know the device we carry constantly why would we put notes in it?! 7y
Centique @RadicalReader exactly! 😂 7y
