⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really enjoyed this one! I read it bc the movie is being filmed now & I wanted to make sure I avoided spoilers & I‘m excited w/ the cast of it. This was really good even if the sex scenes were graphic (I‘m not typically a ‘romance‘ reader & was like ok I get it lol). I enjoyed the mystery & suspense. I didn‘t want to finish it bc I liked how it kept making me wonder what was going to happen next & I don‘t always get that w/ thrillers nowadays.
Probably the most UNthrilling thriller I've ever read. So UNthrilling it has DEthrilled me for the next few thrillers I read that will have to work doubly hard to fill my thrill back up!
And the twist - it was more of an entirely perpendicular & totally parallel pole with not so much as a hint of rotation. I called it correctly by page 6.
Execrable.
Starting this one today. I would never have picked this one up for several reasons - a significant one being this awful cover! Also, there are a ton of bad reviews. But someone passed this on to me and now I feel compelled to give it a go - perversely because of the tons of bad reviews!!!
I actually love a 'so bad, it's good' revelation every now and then!!!
Definitely a page turner! It‘s almost as if I read a more modern, guttural, and simplified version of Jane Eyre and I honestly loved it! Don‘t get me wrong, I‘m always in the mood for a great piece of classic literature but this was a great evolutionary example of old meets new. Plot twist at the end! Buy the hard cover so that you get the epilogue that comes with it!
Lowen is a struggling author and finds a lifeline in the form of Jeremy Crawford who is looking for an author to finish his injured wife, Verity‘s, bestselling series. Lowen agrees and goes to the Crawford home to search Verity‘s study but found things that had her questioning everything.
Major Jane Eyre/Rebecca vibes. Every character is a terrible person but the plot kept me engaged.
Oh snap! Hope they don‘t botch the marketing & let everyone think it‘s a romcom 😂

My swaps have left the building #hhs24 #ahrs24 @wanderinglynn @MaleficentBookDragon THANK YOU for hosting, I‘M SO EXCITED FOR THE 30th!!! 💀#HauntedHollowSwap #AllHallowsReadSwap👻
Thriller that left me turning page after page until I had reached the end - all within just a day‘s read. Sexual tension meets mystery meets murder. *Disclaimer: if you‘re a parent, this one will have your stomach turning in knots. I don‘t have children, but there were some chapters that really set uneasy with me.
Well, that was some raunchy craziness.
My friend read this book and told me to read it too so she could talk about it.
Crazy, mind trip. Will be fun to talk to her about when we get together tomorrow though. 😅
Someone please tell me why Verity is so popular? Like what do y'all enjoy about it? It wasn't for me...so much so that I have an hour left of the audiobook and I'm thinking of dnf'ing it. Please help me understand.
For all the hype, I really liked this. There are lots of twists and turns in this mystery/thriller. As the book progressed, I started reading faster and faster, and couldn't wait to get back to the book to see what would happen next. Verity's diary plays a big role in the story, and seemed a bit unbelievable, though still very compelling. As new revelations come out, it's hard to know what to believe and who to trust. Overall, a really good book.
Colleen, how in the world did you come up with this story line!? Messed me up is all I can say!! Please do a new story about Crew and Nova, I have to know how they turn out as adults!! 👏👍🤔 Now I‘m starting ‘Too Late‘ and I‘m a bit scared! 😱
I loved Verity! It was dark, eerie and creepy and yet there was love and spice and it was light and funny at times. I couldn‘t keep my eyes off it. Colleen Hoover is a genius. I love her! She may be my 2nd favorite author!
I said I wasn‘t doing this, yet here I am. As always, late to the popularity party 😆. And do you know what, I enjoyed it. Book snobbery aside (there was eye rolling, of course) it‘s a page turner, very quick and easy reading, with a nicely creepy dark side. Yes it‘s daft, but you‘re not going into it looking for a Booker finalist. It was just what I wanted to read right now. I might even go for another, who‘d have thought.
I‘m finally getting to read Verity! This book has been on my TBR for months now. I‘m curious, what were your thoughts on Verity? I‘ve seen a lot of mixed reviews.
A fast read but I was not impressed by the plot. It is common, predictable and very unrealistic.
Lowen was another unreliable narrator: why did she intentionally get pregnant with someone she kept saying she couldn‘t be with? Her attachment to him was creepy, + really fueled by the manuscript. She stayed with him + hid the evidence “so it didnt hurt him” but casually ignored that he attempted murder TWICE? Lowen also let Crew lick the knife + any time she was alone with him, something bad happened. Why?? There was so much more going on here
WTH!!!! I am completely creeped out right now! As someone who usually doesn‘t enjoy Colleen Hoover, I thought she excelled at the suspense and character work here. Verity was a rollercoaster, and you‘ll never really know the truth of what happened. All these characters were SO messed up and made questionable decisions. Also, I believe, an unreliable narrator (details under a spoiler review)
I really enjoyed this - kept me on my toes and there were several "wtf" moments... #the52bookchallenge
This ride is wild!!! I‘ve read the comments and listened to the stories on how this book sits with you but nothing really prepares you for a book like this…I‘m scared, my blood pressure is high and I‘ve already speculated the worst. The beef folks have with CoHo is unjustified in my opinion as you have to be one deranged individual to write a story such as this!! #cohobooks #veritycolleenhoover #veritybook #verityissogood #mochagirlsreadpicks
Thank you so much @Jerdencon for my #JolabokaflodSwap gift! I would have posted sooner, but I started the book as soon as I opened it (and was late to my Christmas Eve celebrations). And the coconut chocolates are perfect. 🥥
Happy #jolabokaflod everyone! Thank you @MaleficentBookDragon for organizing!
I legit read this book in a day. I was so completed and utterly entranced by this book. It was such a mind twist and I loved it
HOLY CRAP i haven‘t been this engrossed in a book for awhile. I‘m at a loss for words. So disturbing and so good, I couldn‘t put it down. I would go out with my friends and just be thinking of going home to read. The ending makes me question everything like I never have for any book
This was a quick read, and I didn‘t expect the final reveal (though I should have seen it, in retrospect). This was meh for me.
This was one of my first Colleen Hoover books I read and I still think it‘s one of the best! Had me a bit scared after reading it a night. Loved the plot twists and the characters!
Read this book faster than I usually do! It for sure will keep your attention and will also make you upset that someone could actually think and act the way Verity does 🤯 I absolutely recommend it! I still don't know what actually happened lol

Attempting to read Verity by end of day because it is last day of month. BUT…. We have a dog guest. Meet Penny! Copper is in love, Esther is not. #BookClubBook #PhysicalANDeBook #LibraryLibby
A compulsive read,Verity is a famous author who's rendered immobile and unresponsive after a car crash.Jeremy, her husband, enlists the help of Lowen, a struggling author,to finish his wife's mega famous book series.Lowen moves into the family home and begins reading through Verity's notes and diaries to help with her own writing process and what she discovers blew me away. A haunting read,as much as I despised Verity I couldn't put it down ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My most favourite part of the book was when Lowen had access to all of Verity‘s notes and resources. She spend her time reading unpublished manuscripts and personal notes.
My least favourite part of the book was when Lowen was caught redhanded doing something she ought not to be doing.
What I will remember most about this book was when Lowen found out about Verity‘s secret in the manuscripts that was written by Verity herself.

Great opening, interesting, flawed protagonist & twist at the end can‘t outweigh the seemingly endless, overwritten sex scenes & old fashioned, soap opera tone.
If nothing else, it made me clean my office…One hell of an opening sentence, but not sure about the rest of it yet… #amreading
3/5 ⭐
After Verity suffer from a tragic accident l, her husband seek out Lowen, an other writer to finish his wife book series. Lowen discover a sinister and disturbing manuscript of what happened to Verity's children.
