pickSaying that I was completely riveted by these primary source documents, might be one of the nerdiest things I have ever said, but there it is. Reading these firsthand accounts of witch trials and accusations gave me chills and broke my heart.
These bite-sized historical accounts of accused witches make for a great seasonal read... and a perfect coffee table book for Halloween!

After exploring a bit, I found the memorial bench for my 11-times great-uncle, John Proctor, then spent some time in the visitor center.

pickSuperb book, although depressing. I would say that this is a not scary Hallowe'en book, but what is scary is that ignorant men continue to demonize strong, empowered women as "witches" ( witness a certain political candidate). Excellent history, and an engrossing traversal of the primary sources. #AllHallowsRead @Litsy
This is a fantastic compendium of historically accurate documentation of accused witches, dating all the way back to King James himself in 1597. This is some good witchy reading for #scaretober. You can see that Lily is engaged. #recommendsday
pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My first finish for #scaretober #halloweenhorror, which ironically is not a work of fiction. Rather, this an assembly of writings consisting of court depositions, editorials, publications, etc. from actual witch trials. While the primary focus is on witchcraft in New England, a lot of background is provided from England and Europe. Katherine Howe, the editor, provides excellent commentary in the introduction and for each selection.
