This 🙌🏽📖😋

Marilyncjackson My tablet smells like books and my grandma‘s perfume. Plus when my eyes are bothering me I can change the font on my tablet (making it bigger) so I can keep reading. I think it is pretty uncool when people post things like this. Reading is reading no matter how you do it. Let‘s not put people down for how they chose to read. 2mo
shanaqui @Marilyncjackson I hear you. My mother's going blind and an ereader is how she can keep on reading the same books as me, but EVEN WITHOUT THAT, I don't get why people need to act superior about it. To each their own; I love both. 2mo
shanaqui (Also, some books smell awful and some of my glossy paged non-fic books don't really have a scent at all. 😝) 2mo

Marilyncjackson @shanaqui ❤️ yep and that is why we need to stop making “jokes” that physical books are superior. Ereaders and audio books are the only way some people can enjoy reading and I don‘t think it is funny to diminish this r poke fun at the way anyone reads. Also, you are totally right that some books don‘t smell all that good. (edited) 2mo
Leftcoastzen I‘m glad there are different formats so more people can enjoy books .I do have a kindle , listen to some books on audio, but a HUGE fan of book books! 2mo
Ddzmini @Marilyncjackson, @Shanaqui, and @Leftcoastzen I read both books and on my iPad so when posting something like this I‘m not degrading anyone‘s choices I‘m just posting something cool sorry if it bothers you 💁🏼‍♀️ (edited) 2mo
Marilyncjackson @Ddzmini but the point is it is not cool. You wouldn‘t post something like my socks are more colorful than your wheel chair wheels would you? I really hope you see my point. Posts like this are insensitive they are not “cool”. And yes posts that can make people feel bad because they cannot read a physical book do bother me. Posts like this take away from the atmosphere of inclusion. 2mo
Marilyncjackson @Ddzmini I am not picking on you. I am tired of seeing posts like this and have decided it is time to point out how insensitive they are. Most people think they are being cute or “cool” when in reality they are being hurtful to people who can‘t read physical books. If people want to shrug their shoulders and and be “cool” fine. I, on the other hand, plan to include anyone who likes to read no matter what or how they read. Sorry if this bothers you 2mo
Ddzmini @Marilyncjackson actually I probably would post something like the socks because my mother is in a wheelchair has been for all of my lifetime and she has always told me if you can‘t laugh at yourself who can you laugh at.. by the way I suffer with dyslexia and I‘ve overcome other Heath conditions including eyesight issues. I probably would post something on that as well ... we have to have humor in order to handle situations in life. 2mo
Ddzmini @Marilyncjackson also please understand I am not utilizing this in any harmful way ... your perception is your perception I‘m sorry that you feel this way and hope you can understand that this type of situation is not and should not cause any issues with anyone ... but I understand the everyone is different, has their own perception of a situation, and that‘s where i can be harmful 2mo

Hey Littens! We‘ve been watching the HBO show Big Love and I‘ve convinced the fiancé we should listen to an audio book about Mormon fundamentalists or Scientology on our road trip this week. Got any juicy recommendations?

swishandflick And for Scientology, Leah Remini's book is great on audio! 12mo

Macnjen Going Clear for Scientology. Not a memoir but very interesting. There is a memoir by David Miscaviage‘s niece which is pretty interesting but the title escapes me right now. 12mo
callielafleur Another vote for Going Clear. Super informative and very well written. 12mo
Hooked_on_books I agree with Going Clear. Great book! 12mo

What about you? ☺️

merelybookish @BookwormAHN Good! Have you decided? You were debating between two right? 2y

I saw this today and it felt right! Even if we may not like the book doesn't mean it isn't for others.
I love the acceptance and understanding on Litsy!

Ugh. None of the books appeal to me this month. Ah well, I've still got a backlog of past selections. #BOTM

AnnieReads Same here. None of the selections this month are floating my boat. This will be the first month I've skipped. 2y
Sace @AnnieReads I definitely think it's the universe helping me make time for the other books I have to read! 2y
Reviewsbylola I feel like these selections could definitely go either way. 2y

Hollie I'm skipping this month and will just check out the library if any of my Litsy peeps just rave about one of the selections :) 2y
Sace @Reviewsbylola I usually feel excited about at least one selection. Maybe it's me, but this month I was "eh" on all of them. 2y
Sace @Hollie I wish I felt like my library kept up with the most recent books. I sometimes have to wait months for something on Litsy shows up in my library offerings. 2y

Shout out to the person that brought Cassandra Clare to the Litsy meetup! I've been hearing the series in audio.

Good question. I've been in a bit of a reading slump, partly due to the busy-ness of life but also partly due to this book. It was my science pick for @bookriot 's #readharder challenge but the abstract computational neuroscience is too dry for me so I've decided to officially bail, which I have never done in my adult life. Be warned - although the title may be intriguing to lots of Litsy folks, it's not specifically about choosing what we read.
