The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. 9/10 rating
What a twist ending! I certainly didn‘t expect that. This thriller was hard to put down. Alicia is very troubled and confined to an asylum. She hasn‘t spoken since she murdered her husband. Theo is the psychotherapist who is obsessed with her. I may never think of therapists in the same way again!
The twist at the end I've seen from reviews is love it or hate it. I honestly thought of it and rejected it because it didn't make sense to me at the time I thought about it then BAM it happened. I've also heard it was perhaps poorly edited but because I listened to it I didn't notice that and was able to just enjoy the story. Definitely a good spoopy season read.
This is the #1 book I always recommend. A perfect slow build to a jaw-dropping twist. As I continue to read in this genre, I keep thinking about this one.
I‘m so glad the infidelity comes up just as soon as you see how much Theo loves Kathy, instead of dragging you on with hope and dread like most books of this nature. The latter always rips me up unnecessarily.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ so far…
Agreed.
The silent patient : 4 stars
This book was a little slow in the beginning, but the ending- oh my lanta.. it was a page turner.

If I talk about the best thriller books I have ever read
then The silent patient is surely one of them.
Five gun shot.
And six years of silence!!
The story hooked me from the start and didn't let go
until the end.
Just finished The Silent Patient by Alex Machaelides 🙌🏻 Excellent read!! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️The plot, the characters… kept me guessing to the end - an ending which I didn‘t expect. Great beach vacation book, short enough yet packs a lot of drama and tension. A mystery to the very last sentence.

I did like the book even though I could see after awhile where it was going and what the twist was. The ending was just kinda there even though I knew it was coming. I give it 3 stars cause it is a good book and I'd read it again but idk if I would put it on my favorites list
🎭 THE SILENT PATIENT🎭
by Alex Michaelides
Five fatal gunshots.
Six years of silence.
What are her first words?
This book is a psychological thriller in which a lady, Alicia shoots her husband, after six years of marriage and then goes silent for the next six years.
Everything about the plot, language, and climax worked well for me.

4 out of 5. Even though the ending was a bit farfetched, it was still thoroughly entertaining.
Between this book and “The Maidens”, I can say that I‘m definitely an Alex Michaelides fan & look forward to reading more books by him. As a Greek Classics scholar and someone who is writing a retelling, I appreciate how he uses the Greek myths in a way that deep dives into the history and psychology involved and then shows a different way of looking at the myths.
This is one of those books where there's been so much hype that you know it's going to fall short of expectations, but because of all the hype, you have to give it a shot to find out what all the fuss is about. However, even though I expected to be let down, I wasn't! There were several nice twists, and while they weren't all completely unexpected, some were definitely crafty! Considering that this was a debut book, color me impressed!

December 21, 2021 Listers! I finally came to the end of the book. It was such a roller coaster. The author depicts so much with in the last 100 pages of the book. I COULD NOT STOP READING. I wanted to see for myself whether Theo would indeed help Alicia out and get her to talk again OR if Alicia was going to be silent the whole time. There were a lot of parts in the book that made me speechless and also feel sad for Alicia. 5/5
Very interesting! Wasn't my favorite writing style at the beginning, but got into very quickly!
Absolutely loved this one. So well paced and developed. I listened to the audiobook and it has alternating narrators, which was brilliant. I was hooked and could not stop myself.
“We're all crazy, I believe, just in different ways.”
About to embark on a journey of thrill and suspense....
I‘d never known that skin could be so luminous, so translucent: ivory white with occasional blue veins just beneath the surface, like threads of color in white marble. She was a statue, a Greek goddess come to life in my hands.
I bullied a coworker into reading Gone Girl, and they made me read this in the spirit of reciprocity. This book is about a famous artist who murders her husband and refuses to speak another word after. (Which, honestly is a smart legal strategy) A psychotherapist enters and is determined to get to the bottom of things. This book is built on unreliable info, which is not good for the pandemic trust issues I've developed over the past year 😩
#LittensDressedInBlood Today‘s prompt is: Every Breathe You Take. For me that brings to mind obsession, stalking, the warped mind that mistakes possession for love. I recently read the tagged book and it was the third book that came to mind for today‘s prompt. I‘ll tag the other two books in the comments.
Listened on audio during drive from Indiana to Texas. The twists got me.
Wasn't pretty satisfying as per the hype the book had. Plot, language, storyline everything worked well except the climax. I don't know why it didn't work for me. Read more about my views on Silent patient at www.wordsbehindtheink.wordpress.com
Best book I‘ve read this year! Loved it. 5/5
“There‘s so much pain everywhere, and we just close our eyes to it. The truth is we‘re all scared. We‘re terrified of each other.”
When you get near the end of the book and you resent having to go to work instead of being able to stay home reading.
A story of childhood trauma, betrayal, and secrets that lead a psychotherapist and his patient to discover the truth about each other. Such a good read! I could not put the book down!!
I just thought this was ok... I'm trying to clean up my "reading" list on goodreads. My library switched ebook/audio book systems a few months ago. I miss our old system. We did use Overdrive. I'm sloooooowly getting used to cloud library. Do any if you use it?
It was good, but certainly not great. I may never understand the veneration, or why this one topped every book club reading list for the past 2 years. 7/10
Some light reading on a rainy Monday…
I usually don‘t gravitate to thrillers but my mom sent me this one so I gave it a try. I read it in a day because I was so enthralled.
The story centers on a woman who goes silent after her husband has been murdered. A psychotherapist tries to figure out why she is silent. And, that is all I‘ll say about the plot.
I recommend this book if you like whodunnits.

‘The Silent Patient‘ ends with a major twist. Should a savvy reader have seen it coming?
Very good quick read
