Not my usual type of romance but it‘s sweet and engaging. Single mom of two, screenwriter of cheesy romance movies, falls into a love affair with leading man. I liked the self-conscious upending of romance movie tropes but also the reconciliation. Mostly closed door. A nice, quick read.

This was exactly what I needed today! Got it at the library at 3-ish this afternoon and just finished it at 11:15!

Picked this one for the #pantone2023 challenge but was actually just the palette cleanser I needed after a v long week. Recently divorced screen writer mom lets a film crew shoot at her home and inevitably the lead sees something he likes. Fun and easy way to spend an afternoon!

A sweet (and PG-rated) romance between a screenwriter who writes a movie based on her own recent divorce, and the actor who plays her husband after he comes to spend a few days filming at her house.

I liked the beginning and end. The in between almost lost me but ended up enjoying it in the end. It was a toss up between so-so and like. I liked Nora‘s character.

Kind of sad rom-com... Not bad, it had some good moments. But it was rushed and unrealistic.

A fun romcom. Did you like Book Lovers? It‘s in the same camp. A fun, quick, pretty predictable storyline (small town girl meets Hollywood guy, their love is real but, well, things don‘t quite go as planned…). It‘s a fun rainy day read.

What better way to celebrate SIX YEARS OF LITSY than to finish a book I wasn't enjoying at all?! 🤣 The subject matter of this romance was absolutely not for me but it wasn't poorly written. I can't pan it because I knew what I was getting into. The top A-lister in Hollywood gets swept off his feet by a screenwriter's small town life! BUT, there's a chaos agent introduced when he ghosts her! Stay tuned for the happy ending!

Just when you thought book club couldn't get worse.... I'm not sure how much longer I can stick it out with books like this. I think this is my first ever Hallmark-type romance story. 🤢 My coworker asked if I was going to keep hoping someone finds a dead body! 🤣

Picked this one up on a whim and loving the story so far.

If you like Rom Coms, this one is for you. I‘m only in the so-so category for most RCs, but this was a delightful “listen.” The audiobook narrator, Hillary Huber, is very good.

Another surprisingly delightful romance. I loved that the main character struggled with her ending with her new screenplay but the ending of this book is just perfect! For the bit when she seemed to be ghosted it made no sense. Ah but a happy ending for sure!

A fun fluffy romance. Nice to read about 40-something‘s falling in love for a change. A quick, entertaining read.

Another surprising 5 star romance for me. It had all the right elements: well timed structure, loveable characters, anticipatitory tension and a high swoon level. I mean even the acknowledgements were swoon worthy!

This was the perfect read while still keeping dad company during his hospital stay. I‘m not sure what I was expecting when I started. Certainly not the charming read this turned out to be. Romance and family, I fell in love with all the characters and I loved the storyline. Hahahaha - this premise! Nora writes Hallmark movies (they really are madlibs, aren‘t they!?), but the writing of her own divorce was so dark that it was sold as a motion picture with a Bradley Cooper-ish movie star as the lead. Then the making of that movie creates its own story. Is it a Hallmark story? Well,that would be a spoiler!

Good. Nice romantic story that sends you on a rollercoaster of emotions. It does start of as your typical romance story but once the twist and turns start coming you soon realise that it isn't. Thank you #HodderandStoughton for inviting me via #Netgalley to read this.

Ten percent in on this ARC. Not in love. Nora isn't bitter or boring, per se ... She's just. .. there. I am hoping it gets better. So far, I can't connect.

My April reads included the top row as my 5 star reads, and most of the rest as 4 stars. Great reading month!

Nora‘s scriptwriting career allows the author to lampshade the moment that per narrative convention Leo is supposed to return... and doesn't. Her greater heartbreak over a short relationship than the long death of her marriage and her unsuccessful attempts to hide her heartache from her kids establishes interesting interior conflicts and a resolution that feels more earned than the version where the hero always returns after the commercial break
