I love junji ito, and this is like his collections on steroids. It‘s great body horror, and gave me weird dreams when I‘d read it before bed.

This was a wild ride to read. Deeply disturbing and disgusting, yet the art is strangely beautiful. The story revolves (pun intended) around a town in Japan that becomes infested with Spirals. Yes it is as weird as it sounds. If you like body horror I would definitely check this one out! 4.5⭐️

Our newest friend at work :) Makes me think of the snail people soo much!
I came home from a long work week to this present from my husband :)
Very well illustrated and had a unique plot.
The concept behind this book is that a town is cursed by spirals, you'd obviously have to read it to find out.
There's so many gruesome deaths and people turning into snails and shit. Disgusting. 🤢
There was also a sense of hopelessness surrounding the deaths that I found unsettling.
It also has this eerie, absurd Lovecraftian vibe.
I've given it ⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆
Ito is scary in a simplified, let‘s take normal daily things and twist them beyond recognition, way. He‘s the Lovecraft of manga and maybe that‘s why he‘s terrifying; because I don‘t realize it until I try to go to sleep. His art is disturbing at times, but it‘s also strangely beautiful. This tale of a town obsessed with spirals, is so simple, and yet so beyond creepy, I wasn‘t expecting it. And my convo with a friend says it all.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘m probably going to cry because Ito scares the bejezus out of me, but here we go!
My first Ito read, this is eerie and the stuff of nightmares. Cannot rate enough!
Of course, this is a pick! It was such a creepy creepy book! I think there are making/or have made a movie or something about this one. I need to hunt it down.

My husband as turned me onto Ito books. And well this is the only one he has read (so naturally I am getting to this - after I read some of the others -- I didn't find this one initially)
Anyway, already loving it!

So, this is a first for me. I‘m reading a book recommended to me by someone one of my children is dating. My son‘s girlfriend suggested I might enjoy this horror manga and let me borrow her copy. I‘ve also repaid the favor, lending her my copy of the first volume of the fantasy comic “Monstress.” Lord, I‘m getting old. Haha!
I have been seeing a lot of posts about Junji Ito lately. I like horror and I like graphic novels, so I decided to give him a try. This is the first manga I have read. It was a little different, learning to read the panels from right to left, but the story is so intriguing I was able to get lost in the story. When I first got this book, I was thinking spirals, how scary can they be? By the end of the book they were terrifying.
If you enjoy horror manga or horror graphic novels, you might want to give this one a try. It's a bit gross and creepy but it's really well written and the art is really good. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
#LovePrevails Day 21: There is a lot of #DarkLove here - and graphic horror, too. Devoured it in less than a week (like I devoured ze husband‘s grilled parmesan chicken salad). Review is forthcoming.
I was routinely shoveling snow in my backyard this morning when I noticed that it had gotten dark. How long had I been pushing snow around in this strange pattern? I think my house has been taken over by spirals.
If you love horror this is such a good book, the illustrations are so detailed and horrifying, I‘ve always struggled to find horror books that scare me (I may just have not tried hard enough) but as someone who loves horror art these images stick with you, which I love.
I like horror, but these 3 volumes of horror stories about a town haunted by spirals were so bleak and full of body horror I think it wasn‘t quite my taste. It was incredibly well done and well drawn, but really haunting and made me feel a little ill. Great for some but not for me.

I don‘t even know where to begin. This horror-tragedy-madness ticks all the right boxes aesthetically, and its a great original concept in the cosmic horror genre. Its a town that is “haunted” (for lack of a better term) by the shape of the spiral, and the way it plays out makes me think of H.P. Lovecraft with Junji Ito‘s fantastic artwork on every page. The writing/plot has a few holes, sure, but the idea and illustrations of it are 10/10

Loved this manga so much! Junji Ito is definitely a favorite of mine!
New video up! Join Kerry Pickering Jr. and myself as we review the manga "Uzumaki" by Junji Ito!

Dunno why this took me longer to get through then the others.
Still epic and weird
I just thought this drawing was cool. I read the three volumes tonight of this for an online horror book club but it was just alright.

I wonder if I should take down my spiral art after reading Uzumaki... This horror manga was incredible and terrifying - I can't remember the last time I screamed at a book, and it happened more than once! The bizarre tale of a town cursed by spirals, each chapter gets stranger and stranger. Ito's art is spectacular and he is not squeamish about drawing some pretty grisly scenes! I think I'm hooked on his work now.
OMG, the color illustrations on the end papers and intro of Uzumaki Deluxe are gorgeous! Hoping this lives up to its terrifying reputation - guessing it's going to!
Also, great photo bomb from Polly and her fuzzy belly, she cracks me up when she lays like that 😸 #catsoflitsy
The hubs and I met up with a friend to get Korean BBQ, wander around HMart and check out a new stationary/bookstore that he'd heard of. The shop was amazing, so much cool craft stuff, bookish accessories, and cool selections. I may have splurged a little...
I've wanted to get into Ito's major works for a while now, and the latest B&N sale was as good a time as any.
I've heard comparisons made between Ito work and Jordan Peele's Us, which makes me want to see that film even more.
Sun is out and so is the manga.
First manga day of the year.
Definitely planning on more this year.
So I am shipping out the #cupidgoespostal box tomorrow and wanted you to know again even though I mention it yesterday :) 👌 .....but I still haven‘t received one??? Do you happen to know the status in the one sent to me? And the address it was mailed too?
I‘m blown away.....and seeing spirals everywhere! #horrormanga
Del maestro del horror Junji Ito, versión en inglés. Hace muchos años vi la película sin saber que estaba basada en un manga el cual, es lejos, superior en todo aspecto.
It was the most amazing thing I have ever read. It not only turned me on to Junji Ito, but horror manga in general. It will definitely forever hold a place as my favorite! ❤🖤
I've heard so much about this.....when I found it st the library, I had to check it out!
I LOVED this weird, creepy graphic novel/manga. Totally here for the bizarro premise and unrelenting dread. This was an entertaining Sunday afternoon read!
It‘s finally Friday!!! Tea & books are what I have planned for tonight 😊 Photo featuring my BF‘s current read - Uzumaki. It looks really interesting and creepy 😱 #kindle
Day 19:A Book📖when I want to Scream-Leave it to the Master of Japanese Manga Horror Junji Ito to appease my 🖤 in this matter. He helped me during a really dark time(this particular piece of his in fact)& it‘s brilliance still helps me scream out not in fear no never in fear but in absolute adoration❣️#SurvivingDecember #Booktherapy #PhotoChallenge #Day19 #Scream
My brother NEVER reads for pleasure, but last year I gave him the complete Uzumaki (as he loves anime and all things Japanese). It took him most of the year to get through it, but he has become fond of a few pages of Japanese horror with his breakfast every morning. He has ASKED for MORE MANGA for Xmas! Victory! 🙌🎉💪😁#gatewaydrug
But what should I get him? Any recs from the manga lovers? I know there's more Junji Ito, but what else?
I picked this up at the library (hence the poorly place barcode at the top) and I am just going to say this manga is not for the faint of heart. I am only a third of the way through and the hibbee jibbees are real! I will never look at a spiral the same again!!!!
I'm still exploring horror #manga and liked this one more. I'm not sure it's horror but it was definitely creepy, bizarre and surreal. I really enjoyed it.
PS I've been completely remiss on #LittensDressedinBlood posts. I hope this one can count.
I've been trying to get into Manga and have had middling success but, man, Ito is one messed up dude!
A town is cursed by spirals causing all sorts of bizarre, gross, and abhorrent things to happen.
Lovecraft inspired nuttiness and well worth checking out.
This entire stack of #bookmail is brought to you by #blameitonlitsy 😁
My favorite page so far. Isn't this girl creepy? The fire alarm went off in my building so I'm sitting in my car reading for hopefully not too long. #24in48 #manga
So that's why we say someone is "spiralling into madness"! Very disturbing--but in a good way! The artwork is mesmerizing and such compelling storyline. Don't think I will be trying escargot any time soon, though...
