The New York Times bestselling series returns in this heart-stopping prequel novella. Ever wonder how our future queen fell for her bodyguard? Or how Prince Jefferson and his sisters best friend got caught in a love triangle for the ages? Grab your royal invitation and well show you the night that started it all. Princess Beatrice realizes whats expected of her as heir apparentand it is not riding in cars, alone, with her Revere Guard. But what the Crown doesnt know wont hurt itright? Princess Samantha is already bored of her own graduation party. She swears she isnt looking for trouble, but when the king and queen are away, the spare will play. Nina never dreamed of acting on her feelings for Prince Jefferson. Tonight, though, anything seems possible: even a prince and a commoner. Meanwhile, Daphne is hiding more than one secret beneath her perfect exterior. A royal party might just be the window of opportunity she needsuntil everything comes crashing down. Will this be an evening of new beginnings, or will it mark the end of an era? Set before the events of New York Times bestseller American Royals, this brand-new story offers a glimpse of your favorite royal family as you've never seen them before, just in time for the release of American Royals III: Rivals in May 2022.

A fleshing out of the party alluded to in book one.

This was a novella. Basically to start the series. I like it. I rated this book a 3 out of 5 stars.

America‘s royal family and the drama of the young people in the monarchy. I loved the way this was written. I‘ll probably check out the next book in the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

4 stars-It was nice to get more context for the rest of the series. I still hate Daphne though. I wish we'd gotten any of the guys' POVs though. It could have been a little longer to include them. The narrator was amazing.

Not sure why the author chose to go backwards in time and show the beginnings of relationships she later trashed, but I have to admit I‘m still interested enough to continue reading this series.

This book has a really interesting premise: what if the US was run by a monarchy? It subtly criticizes our government which was pretty clever, but it was probably 100 pages too long. I would've liked more focus on Beatrice and less on Daphne, Sam, and Nina. They just got under my skin and I ended up skimming their chapters toward the end.

Channeling my early teenage self I give this a pick because it‘s the YA romance I would have been all over. However, as the could-be grandmother to that teenager I once was, I wanted the world surrounding Beatrice & Co to be more culturally different than today‘s world as a result of 11 generations of Washington Kings ruling America.

Drama in this book is just for the sake of drama; characters are selfish brats and
there really isn't much going on, but it is an entertaining, soapy and easy read.

My New Year‘s Day read... and I‘m pretty sure this is what you‘d get if you put Season 1 of the Crown in a blender with The Bodyguard and Legally Blonde. I wasn‘t a fan of how young the characters were (18-ish) but it‘s YA so it made sense.

#120 of 2020. In this story. George Washington became King so the U.S. has a royal family. This is about the current day royals in the family. Although as a history buff I find it funny to think the U.S. would have a monarch, this was a fun read. I really enjoyed it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed these more than I expected! This is about the lives, & love lives, of Princess Royal (later Queen) Beatrice of America & her siblings Princess Samantha and Prince Jeff(erson), in an alternate universe that started when George Washington became King George I instead of President. Sure, there‘s romantic tropes, but fun to follow. there‘s smart & clever looks at the meaning of duty, & how America is populated with dukedoms instead, etc. 👇

ValerieAndBooks Book 1 definitely ends with a cliffhanger though but I didn‘t mind in this case. I think things were mostly wrapped up in Book 2. 4y

What if American was run by a royal family descended from George Washington?

I LOVE this book. It is so entertaining and such a cute story. I always find princess stories entertaining and this is my favorite princess story.

I reread American Royals before reading Majesty, and I loved it as much as the first time.

Wow! I had so much fun listening to this excellent YA drama! It‘s set in a world where George Washington said yes to being the king of America-& his family still holds the crown. Focusing on the three siblings- heir to the throne, Beatrice & her two twin siblings, Samantha & Jefferson- this relationship story unfolds quickly with fun details & plenty of people to root for in finding their true love! A great combination of fairy tale modernity!

TorieStorieS Can‘t wait to dive into the sequel with that ending!! #AudioColoring 4y

This was a lot of fun. It was a bit cheesy at times and the writing and plot reminded me of Pretty Little Liars-which is one of my all time guilty pleasure series. There‘s not a lot plot wise, but I liked most of the characters, and it‘s easy to get swept up in the romance and drama. I‘ll definitely pick up the next one in the series.

What would‘ve happened if George Washington became King instead of President? In this book we see a present-day American Royal family if that had been the case. I tore through this! It was a pleasant change from the serious nonfiction and murder mysteries I‘ve been reading; I didn‘t realize how much I‘d enjoy the break. It was entertaining and made me root for all the characters. I think if you like Crazy Rich Asians, you‘ll like this one too.

America is a constitutional monarchy. George Washington didn't turn down the request to be made king and his descendants have been ruling the country ever since. It's in this world that we begin to follow the three royal siblings, Beatrice, heir apparent and the one who can do no wrong; and the twins, Samantha, party girl, and Jefferson, royal heartthrob, as they navigate life in the spotlight. A fun alt-history for the YA / New Adult crowd.

Katharine McGee's American Royals, our Unabridged Podcast Book Club pick for May, drew me in immediately. ⠀

McGee bases this YA novel on one key decision in American history: when George Washington was offered the kingship after leading American forces to victory . . . what if he had accepted? The book spirals out from there, landing in an alternate present day, after two centuries of Washingtons have served as kings. ⬇️

UnabridgedPod Things are changing, though: next in line is Beatrice, who would be the first woman to take the throne.

The novel alternates between several points of view: Beatrice, who is feeling the pressure of every expectation and regrets every choice she doesn't have; Samantha, her younger sister; Nina, Sam's best friend and a commoner; and Daphne, the ex-girlfriend of Jeff (Sam's twin). ⬇️
5y
UnabridgedPod Moving through these characters' lives propels the plot forward and provides interesting angles on the crown, the ways that the royal family affects everyone around them.⠀

There were so many moments here that reminded me of The Crown (which I LOVE!) and of Red, White, & Royal Blue . . . it's fun and soapy but also offers effective commentary on the benefits and challenges of monarchy vs. democracy. SUPER fascinating. ⬇️
5y
UnabridgedPod Who else has read this one? Are there other books of alternate history that you enjoy?⠀

**Also, notice that I could not leave out my Hamilton addiction here, in this book tangentially related to the Revolutionary War. 😂
