This can be used in the classroom to introduce students to key myths and characters from Greek mythology through engaging read-aloud sessions. Teachers can also incorporate art projects or creative writing assignments based on the stories to encourage deeper understanding and personal connection to the material.
This is a beautifully illustrated introduction to Greek mythology for children. The engaging stories of gods, goddesses, and heroes are presented in a way that is both accessible and enjoyable. Vibrant illustrations enhance the narratives, drawing young readers into this magical world. This classic book is perfect for reading aloud or independent exploration.
I never did get into Greek myths as a child. I remember struggling through the mythology section in school and did not pick up any Greek mythology books outside of what was assigned in school.
This was on a list curated by NYPL about the 100 best kids books. So I picked it up not sure what I was getting into. But you know, I enjoyed it. Probably won't be coming back to it, but it was enjoyable. Thanks NYPL for the intro to Greek myths!
1. The tagged book, I had it checked out from the school library so often I practically owned it.

1. Of the Big 12, probably Apollo and Athena. Of the minor gods, I always liked Ananke, Chaos, Nemesis, and the brothers Hypnos, Moros, and Thanatos (especially Hypnos - who doesn't love a good snooze? 😴)

Was gifted this lovely book on Greek Myths.. The artwork is fantastic and the myths are written so anyone can understand and enjoy it. Fabulous book for all ages. As a Hellenic Pagan this book just makes my heart happy.
In elementary school I was obsessed with Greek and Roman mythology. I devoured every book on the subject that my school and town libraries had to offer. How it is, then, that I only became aware of this book's existence a few years ago is a mystery to me. Quite simply, it's the best beginner mythology book ever created (and a million times more enjoyable than most scholarly works). My daughter's copy is dog-eared and ragged from overuse 😀

#BeautifulWords Day 6: What I loved about this book is that murder and mayhem, the gods‘ #nefarious cruelties and benevolence are portrayed as matter-of-fact and told in such a riveting narrative that is the trademark of the D‘Aulaires. My full review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-6T0

Because my mommy thought of me during her travels 💕
Best beginner mythology book ever. Every house should have one.
My daughter and I just picked out and ordered the last item for the Mythology/folklore swap. I‘m so excited! Out of curiosity for swap people- do you prefer pairs or surprise for your match?

This was my first introduction to the world of mythology when I was young.
Thank you @Chrissyreadit ! I LOVE these little Greek Mythology minis! ♥️ (There‘s an awesome Minotaur too, but he didn‘t want to stand up and pose for the picture). My fiancé is wanting to steal them for D&D, but they‘re going on my desk to help with my writing!
I visited Athens this summer crossing one more thing off my bucket list! It has always been my dream to visit the Parthenon 🏛 and it still feels like it was a dream. My favorite books have something to do with the ancient gods and this visit was truly amazing to experience in real life! I was just going back through my pictures and found this one🇬🇷❤️🏛
We stopped reading this for a while- today the boys requested it again! We read about Artemis and Hermès. I love that my monkeys love mythology. Thanks, Percy Jackson!
lL History, Lit, Bio or sales. Whichever is smacking me in the face. Then I get the ebook from the library.

If you are a fan of Greek mythology, this one is a must. The audio version is read by Sidney Poitier, Paul Newman, Matthew Broderick, and Kathleen Turner!
Read Greek myths alongside the book of Genesis. Interesting experience.
(Also featured in photos, "The Picture Bible.")
Catching up on my reading while I rest & get over a minor summer cold.
These historical #picturebooks by the D'Aulaires are favorite #childhoodreads around here. The lithographs are wonderfully imaginative and the stories are clever, readable, and thorough.

Day two of June #riotgrams: a stack of #yellowcovers (or at the very least, #yellowspines) in the bright sunshine. ☀️
This book of #mythology was my favorite when I was a kid. I had a large hardcover edition (I remember some of the drawings, like this one, so vividly) and a version on audio cassette that helped me fall asleep at night. I have no doubt it shaped my view of the world-- my dad died when I was a kid, and I can still remember trying to figure out what constellation the gods had made of him. Stories help us make sense of the world. ❤️#aprilbookshowers
I was obsessed with this book when I was a kid, but I had completely forgotten about its existence until I came across it in a used book store in Chicago when I was there in February. I considered buying it, but it's an oversized book and I didn't feel like carrying it around while doing my touristy thing. I saw it again at a store at home later, but the cover was torn. Maybe I'll pick it up one of these days. #mythology #aprilbookshowers
When she reads everything else for school, they send home the mythology. The names slow her down a bit lol
I borrowed this from the library over and over and practically had it memorized and loved poring over the beautiful illustrations. Aphrodite on the left is one of my favorite drawings. When I got my first job, one of my first book purchases was this one 💖💖💖 (and how is it that it hasn't been mentioned on Litsy yet?) #favoritechildrensbook #riotgrams
