The book is a comm. issue that'd be solved in five minutes. Both characters needed some gumption well before the 80% mark. The last 5% of the book felt very much like “well, I‘ve wasted 95% of the book with slow pacing and a bunch of filler, time to quickly wrap up the loose ends”. Hallmark writes better love stories. Save yourself ten hours of listening and go watch a Hallmark movie. You‘ll have more fun and you‘ll be done in 10% of the time.

My top read this year is pretty different for me. If you had told me that my favorite book this year was a romance I would have assumed you meant one of the Heartstopper or Lore Olympus graphic novels and not an actual novel. But here we are, my favorite book this year was Three Holidays and a Wedding. I'm looking forward to reading my top 2024 book! What will it be? Who knows?

This was my first romance novel and it was an awesome one! I enjoyed learning about Hanukkah and Ramadan/Eid. I especially enjoyed the food references. I've seen a decent number of Hallmark movies and this felt like a Hallmark movie, but in novel form (with significantly better writing). This was a great read and it's great for #wintergames points (12,825 points!). I look forward to reading more romance in the future. Any recs?

This was a re-read that I started in February. It took me a while because certain scenes are hard to read (definitely trigger warning territory) and I was putting it off. I'd give it four stars out of five with one star docked for the trigger warning material. Overall I enjoyed most of Talia's journey. I look forward to reading the rest of the series!

The second published #valdemar book! This was a re-read for me. Even though I've read it a couple times in the past I could feel myself becoming anxious during certain parts. It's an interesting book that expands on Talia's story from the first book, but I enjoyed the first book more.

Any #valdemar fans? I started re-reading the series earlier this year. I've read about half of them over the years so there will be about 19 mainline books that will be new to me. I'm intending to read them all in publication order so I started with the very first one: Arrows of the Queen. This is an excellent intro to the Valdemar kingdom and how Heralds work.

Light_of_Aether I haven't read any of the Valdemar books published after 2003 nor have I read the Vows and Honor or Darian's Tale books. I have two of the 16 anthologies books, but I don't remember if I read them through. Including mainline and anthologies I have 35 new-to-me books to read! 2y
GondorGirl I've read the entire series (most of them multiple times). You're in for a real treat with the Darian books, they're some of my favorites. 2y
Light_of_Aether I'm glad to hear that! I always enjoyed the parts with the Tayledras. 2y

This was a re-read, but I hadn't read it in at least 7 years. There's so much that I didn't remember, such as how truly horrible Snape is to the trio. I loved all of Harry's interactions with Lupin and his uses of the Patronus charm. I also enjoyed all of the quidditch matches. I wish the movies had more quidditch. I ended up reading most of this book over the last week which is pretty quick for me lately. Now onto GoF!

So the Loki: Agent of Asgard series is actually part 3 of a trilogy involving Kid Loki so I decided to go back to part 1 and read through until I get to where I left off with Agent. Vol 1 of Fear Itself starts off with Kid Loki who is the recently reincarnated Loki. I enjoyed seeing Kid Loki making deals between various parties to advance his agenda. Very interesting!

First book of 2022 read on 1/4! This may be a record for me. I've read Chamber several times in the past, but it's been several years since the last time I read it. It's interesting how different things are from the movie. I would pretty much always prefer the movies to follow the books exactly (even if it ends up being six hours long, that's what intermission is for!), but I understand why certain scenes are different in this case. #harrypotter

I know very little of Marvel outside of the MCU so I read The Eternals Omnibus in preparation for the Eternals movie in November. It was interesting seeing the deviants and the eternals and their interactions. However I was disappointed that the original plot line of the celestials returning to earth to judge humanity was not resolved and barely went anywhere. Does anyone know if that storyline is resolved in another run? #eternals #marvel

wanderinglynn I haven‘t read these yet. But @GrilledCheeseSamurai or @TieDyeDude might know. 3y

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ of 5! I listened to the audiobook, but I think ebook or physical would have been better because sometimes I missed a word or two and then I lost the meaning of the sentence. It's difficult to scrub back and forth when doing dishes and other chores (which is primarily when I read audiobooks). Even though it's "dumbed down" a bit, it's still a bit hard to grasp in places. Overall, very interesting.
