The Lorax | Dr. Seuss
134 posts | 266 read | 10 to read
Long before "going green" was mainstream, Dr. Seuss's Lorax spoke for the trees and warned of the dangers of disrespecting the environment. In this cautionary rhyming tale, we learn of the Once-ler, who came across a valley of Truffula Trees and Brown Bar-ba-loots ("frisking about in their Bar-ba-loot suits as they played in the shade and ate Truffula Fruits"), and how his harvesting of the tufted trees changed the landscape forever. With the release of the blockbuster film version, the Lorax and his classic tale have educated a new generation of young readers not only about the importance of seeing the beauty in the world around us, but also about our responsibility to protect it.

This is another book that is a classic and I have always enjoyed. The themes of being environmentally friendly is great for children to hear, and like most Seuss books, there are a lot of literary elements that children can learn from.

This is a classic dr.seuss book that beautifully illustrations the importance of our environment. It shows why we should save trees and how they provide for our world. It may be better understood by older children but all will love listening to this cute story.

This is a book by the famous author Dr. Seuss. In this book, we follow the journey of the man named the Onceler who has a type of carelessness that he brings to the beauty of nature for his own benefit. The lorax is a little character who is the protector of trees and he shows the Onceler the beauties of nature.

This would be a great book to read to children when talking about the environment. We need to make sure we take care of the Earth because we only have one of them and once it is gone it is gone.

The Lorax by Dr. Seuss is a picture book that was published in 1971. The main message of The Lorax is that everyone has a responsibility to protect the ecosystem. Dr. Seuss presents the Once-ler, a rash Thneed businessman whose unbridled desire causes the nearby surroundings to be destroyed. It illustrates the distinction between a dead and a living planet. Up until the trees are gone and everything is gloomy, they utilize vibrant colors.

I knew I had to reread this one for the #BBRC #PictureBook challenge! Banned for putting the logging industry in a bad light, this book emotionally tells the tale of greed and lack of conservation and the devastation that follows.

Incidentally, this library copy was printed on recycled paper!

This remains one of my favorite children‘s books no matter how often I reread it. From its publication in 1971 to today it has stayed relevant, joyful and energizing. It makes me so sad that this book has ever been banned, most notably in ‘89 for portraying the logging industry in a bad light, but it still has detractors today who say it sends messages against capitalism. #BBRCPictureBookLetterL @LibrarianRyan

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I can‘t help it, there has always been an environmental spirit in my soul. Even as a teen I had a bleeding heart for the earth. Three grown kids, our nightly routine included reading and this was one of our favourites and as a parent, one I also enjoyed reading. Sometimes when I‘m in the forest running I think of this great kids story.

In the book The Lorax, Dr. Seuss discusses the terrible consequences humans may face if we fail to look after our environment. A greedy creature named the Once-ler only cares about making money and ignores the warnings of The Lorax, the keeper of the Truffula Trees. The book is set in a Dr. Seuss make-believe land, in a colorful forest with pink, purple, and yellow Truffula Trees.

olivia_danko The Once-ler begins producing thneeds and begins by chopping a small number of trees down. Throughout the book, The Lorax speaks on behalf of the trees and warns the Once-ler that his activities will cause serious harm.
This modern fantasy book would be best taught using UDL 3.3 (Guide information processing and visualization) I would relate how “The Lorax“ is similar to what's happening in our world with deforestation.
4y
olivia_danko The ELS strategy I'd use is EL 12 (Teach to two objectives, language, and content) The objective of this story is all about we need to take care of the environment around us.

* Lorax by Dr. Seuss is green themed book :)
* Actually at age 21 I changed my name by my choosing, because I really didn't like the one my parents gave me :> They were warned about it and were OK with it :)
* I am grateful that all my family is safe and that I was off work for half of this week :)

The Lorax is a classic work of MF by Dr. Seuss. In this Green Prize-winning picture book, children are introduced to concepts such as corporate greed, environmental conservation, and that its never too late to do the right thing. Despite the seriousness of its theme, The Lorax is still whimsical and engaging for young readers. Check out these lesson ideas:
https://lemonlimeadventures.com/the-lorax-activities-lessons/
#ucflae3414su20

nquintus With its vivid illustrations and classic Seussian word play, The Lorax would be a fantastic book to use in an SR activity. An SR lesson would give the teacher ample opportunity to use ESOL strategy 6: continually monitor students‘ comprehension. In addition, this would foster collaboration and community (UDL 8.3) and allow the teacher to clarify vocabulary and symbols (UDL 2.1) and support decoding of text (UDL 2.3). 4y
DrSpalding This is sometimes classified as science fiction due to the content. Shared reading would be a good teaching strategy to utilize with students. Excellent universal design alignment here. 4y

The Lorax should be mandatory first reading material. The lessons about the environment, greed, jealousy, conservation, appreciation are almost unrivaled in children‘s books. The Animated Movie brings the book to life. Proof that truth, like love can be found in any place you choose to look for it(love or truth). Supposedly Dr. Seuss had relationship issues. i don‘t care, it(personal issues) does not change the value of the lessons in his books.
