One thing I miss from my office is the annual international student luncheon. So much good food!

Happy Canada Day! @dabbe I will take you to this very spot when you come to visit!
For red and white in today's #festivephotochallenge, I decided to choose some of my favourite Canadians and their stories. Ghostbusters is a bonus, as it was written by Dan Aykroyd (same hometown!) and fits the colour scheme. #TeamGameSleighers #WinterGames2021 @StayCurious
Mike writes about growing up Canadian and about the history of Canada. He focuses mainly on pop culture, language/accent (which I find fascinating), and how big government has made Canada what it is. He rightly gives a lot of credit to the CBC for starting the careers of many great “American” stars. I enjoyed reading about his childhood and the evolution of Wayne Campbell (the character). So glad I picked up this #audiobook (and reread it)!
As Mike says in the book, “You don‘t get much news about Canada in America.” So I was fascinated by this look at Canada through Mike‘s eyes and comedy from the Pierre Trudeau years to the Justin Trudeau years. He highlighted the real ways Canadians are different from language and pronunciation to how big government helps the arts and the debt we owe, through actors, directors, and producers.
But, being Mike, of course it is said with humor! 4.5⭐️
#letstraveljuly @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620 Happy #Canada day! This is a fun book about Canada by Canadian funny man Mike Myers.
BINGO! 🤩 Something that made me laugh - This book is heartwarming as well as funny. #nonfiction2019
Embracing the Canadian portion of my DNA, I purchased tagged book as Audible's Canada Day deal. Way to brighten my mood, eh?
Have some poutine and a Molson for me, eh.
CBC has put together a nice assortment for Canada Day: 100 Writers in Canada You Need to Know Now: https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4726160
In spite of a few cringe-worthy statements and jokes, this is overall an entertaining celebrity memoir / examination of what it means to be #Canadian. Myers is only 3 years younger than I am, so our cultural touchstones are similar, even though he grew up a child of immigrants and in Ontario rather than Alberta. Also, he has lived abroad since 1983. It‘s great that he narrates his own #audiobook (with more of a Wayne‘s World than a Shrek vibe).
Canada is the essence of not being. Not English, not American, it is the mathematic of not being. And a subtle flavour - we're more like celery as a flavour.

Hello friend, I sent your package out today, hopefully not too late to miss our deadline of the 22nd, they told me 6 to 10 days. I was waiting on some of the goodies to be shipped. 😕 Thank you for swapping with me! Hopefully hear from you soon!
1️⃣ In 2018 I‘ve averaged 0.5 per month. Usually it‘s probably triple that.
2️⃣ No new books. If used books, the library, and borrowing weren‘t allowed I could still reread old stuff from my shelves. Some of those would seem new by now!
3️⃣ Canada150 trip to BC and then Ottawa.
4️⃣ Small notebook to use as my next journal.
5️⃣ ok!

Using my new phone (which is the same size of a paperback and much easier to read) to read a bunch of Kindle books I‘d bought ages ago. This is a fun and informative break from some of the heavier reading I‘ve been doing!
#Canadareads Day 3. :( This one was my favorite.
Don‘t forget. Today is the first day of Canada Reads. Yay! I wish they would do this more than once a year.
Reserving all of the #canadareads long list at the library! Anyone else a Canada reads fan?
Posting one last time - as of now, I don't have enough people to go ahead with planning anything so please click the link below if you're interested.

No reading for me today as I pile all the kidlets in the car and head off to the shore on this kinda crappy morning to celebrate the big 150!!!! I see tall ships, carnival games, beer an lots of fireworks in store!! Happy Canada Day to you all!!!!! 🇨🇦🚢🎡🎆
Happy Canada Day to all the Canadian Littens! Eat a few Timbits on my behalf. Happy 150 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canucks! I'm spending my day working at the brewery, what are you doing for today's holiday?
So I couldn't resist this tweet from Ryan Reynolds lmao! Happy Canada 🇨🇦 day , Littens ❤️‼️🇨🇦📖📚🤘🏻
Here's thanking the guy who gave me my most favorite Man of Mystery- Austin Powers. ❤️😍😂😂😂 #rockinmay #mysteriousways
#currentread #audiobook What makes this book even better is that Mike Myers narrates it himself! So if you see me laughing while I'm driving, now you know why! 😂
If you want to read a book that expresses the Canada you know, do not read this book. If you want to read a hilarious and intimate Canadian journey from childhood to adulthood through life, loss, and an acting career, read this book. This book reminded me that I unapologetically love Canada! #LRC18 #AboutMusicTheatre
This book is both a history of Canada and an autobiography of Mike Myers. Despite the fact that Myers is about a decade older than me, some of the stuff he talks about made me ultra-nostalgic for my own childhood. I mean, who couldn't love a book that discusses Canadian-isms such as milk bags, Kraft Dinner, The Friendly Giant, Sam the Record Man, the CHUM chart, ketchup chips, and Canadian Tire money? ❤️🇨🇦
This is EXACTLY how I felt after my Dad died. In fact, it's been almost 4 years and I still do this. 😢
At work and I have lots of audio choices .... Mike Myers to start the day...
Everything you would expect in a Mike Meyers book about Canada. Funny. Bright. Full of insight into what makes Canadians Canadian! I enjoyed this read and brushes up on everything I didn't learn in high school about Canada.#nonfictionNovember
Can't wait to read this, I won this prize at the Penguin Randomhouse fall preview today
