Pickpick

I have to admit I almost bailed on this (mostly because I left it for a while and wasn't sure if I wanted to get back into it) but really glad I stuck with it. Beautifully written and thought provoking, it's horrifying that it's based on real events. Even beyond the atrocities visited on these women, some of the day to day realities of life for women in such authoritarian patriarchal communities is heartbreaking.

Cinfhen This was on my #18in18 list!! So powerful 6y
Oryx @Cinfhen Have you read any of her others? I read this one too, thought it was beautiful but also 💔. Fabulous writer. 6y
Cinfhen Not yet but I just picked up 6y
Oryx @Cinfhen Now stacked 😁. Look forward to hearing what you think when you get to it. 6y

The Other Wes Moore
The Day the World Came to Town

Crazeedi Awesome list! 6y

Here are my top #18in18 #18in2018 w/ the tagged book my absolute favorite. This year I discovered new-to-me authors and became a big Ruth Ware fan. I have a new genre love - Steampunk Mysteries. I rekindled my love of creature/monster books, especially sharks, and remembered why I had loved Dean Koontz so much. Grady and Riley had two of my most favorite books this year. I'll be continuing with the cozies and anything by Mira/Seann. A good year!

Cinfhen I‘m gonna need some recommendations for #pop19 #extinctCreatures or #imaginarycreatures 6y
vivastory What steampunk mysteries do you recommend? 6y

Cinfhen Thanks for the rec @vivastory I think I‘ve already stacked but NOW I will note it in my 2019 planner 😉 6y
MarriedtoMrT Eleanor is my top pick for the year, too. I ❤️ her. 6y
MaleficentBookDragon @Cinfhen I agree with Into the Drowning Deep (I have that stacked). Also Relic or 6y
Cinfhen Thanks for the recommendations!! I‘ve noted them in my planner as well 🤓 6y

My #18in18, with The Great Alone being my absolutely favorite this year. It‘s been amazing year in reading for me... found my love of young adult, read a Science Fiction book and actually loved it, and I need more Fredrik Backman and pirates.

SilversReviews I chose 18 too. 😊 I couldn‘t choose 5 or 10!! 😊 6y

My top books of the year. #18in2018 #18in18 It's interesting how they are favorites for different reasons. Dark Matter was probably the most enjoyable of all.

Chrissyreadit We have a lot of favorites in common! I will have to read the ones you listed still on my toppling TBR. 6y
tealwish @Chrissyreadit That's Great! I have myself permission to read whatever I wanted this year and apparently that was a lot of Sci-fi and fantasy! 6y
Soubhiville Yes yes yes! I really loved so many of these! 6y
See All 12 Comments
tealwish @Soubhiville I love finding people who share my taste! Makes me wanna read more!! 6y
TK421 I really enjoyed Station Eleven and The Bear and the Nightingale. 6y
tealwish @TK421 The sequel to the Bear in the Nightingale was just as good in my opinion. I am excited for the 3rd one next year! 6y
Eggbeater I loved several of these and more are on my TBR. The Graveyard Book holds a special place in my heart. 6y
tealwish @Eggbeater I listened to The Graveyard Book audiobook read by Neil Gaiman. ❤ his voice!! Unfortunately I ran out of time on Libby and had to wait awhile for it to become available again, so that kinda broke up my reading experience. 6y
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Excellent selection! 📚 6y
tealwish @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego It was my best reading year ever! 6y
