4.5 ⭐ This book is lovely. It‘s simple but it‘s well done. It has a definitive pat pattern. It rhymes well and it doesn‘t try to be more than it is. The illustrations by Suzie Mason are wonderful and altogether, this is a pleasant work of art that sure to be on Library shelves for you to come.

4 ⭐ First thing, as a Gen X are I feel the submarine should be yellow. However, this was a fun book. It sounds like Paul McCartney. A reader can picture him standing up there telling this story to his grandchildren. And that‘s what makes this picture book successful. The illustrations definitely help it along as they match perfectly to the tone and the ideas put in a person‘s head by the story.

Today (Feb 11) is International Day of Women and Girls in Science. All the girls and women who want to pursue a career in science should be free to do so.

ncsufoxes My 9 year old daughter wants to be an astronaut. We keep encouraging her to follow her dreams (she‘s been wanting to be an astronaut since she was 4). Her dad is a scientist & he is a strong supporter of women being in science (he‘s always had women bosses & both the people that work in his lab are women). 6d
Dilara @ncsufoxes That's great! I hope she makes it 😁 6d
Butterfinger @ncsufoxes my eldest graduates from State this spring in geology. I'm proud of my Wolfpack girl choosing a field in science. With the geological event that happened in western NC, the career possibilities are endless. 6d
ncsufoxes @Butterfinger congrats & go pack! My daughter wants to go to State. My husband & I both went to State for undergrad (& he did his PhD at Carolina in Genetics & Molecular Biology). My oldest is a junior at the University of Rhode Island. He‘s studying Wildlife Biology & Conservation. He‘s a little concerned about the future but more determined than ever to protect the environment. We‘re going to continue to need scientists, more now than ever 6d

Last night was one of our favourite school events of the year! Every year, they host a Snuggle Up and Read evening. Everyone comes to the school in their pajamas, and there are all sorts of literacy focused events throughout the school. It's the most cozy form of chaos, and the kids LOVE it!

4 ⭐Jane Yolen is a master storyteller. Along with the illustrator in less than 20 words, they can have a book from beginning to end. It‘s a perfect book for bedtime for that last push right before sleep.

I was today-years-old when I found this monthly wrap up calendar option on SG. The January Pages Challenge was a good motivator for reading a little a day on the longer books. ❤️

Clare-Dragonfly Wow, I was today years old, too. Who ever would have thought of clicking on a dang dropdown 🤦🏻‍♀️ 2w
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage @Clare-Dragonfly To be fair, they‘ve had a ton of updates recently so maybe this is one of them? I‘ve looked at the cover collage before, but not the calendar 🗓️ 2w
DogMomIrene I just noticed this feature too. I wish the colors of the lines had better contrast. They kind of blend for me. But I could see them improving that, especially if this is a new feature. 2w

#childrensclassicread2025

First time reading this fairy tale. I didn‘t get to Grimms original tale but I read these two, the tagged one the better of the two as it felt more in the spirit of a Grimms tale. I enjoyed the illustrations more in the non tagged book but the tale was very simplistic and more cutesy.

TheBookHippie Oh fun!!! 2w
