Happy Midsummer Eve!

Wanted to fit in one more book for #WITmonth as well as being seasonally in-tune with the Northern Hemisphere (it's eternal summer in Malaysia, anyway :) Set in June, but it's a perfect end-of-August read. In this one, we have a summer of escapist absurdism via volatile nature & an abandoned theater. Playful, philosophical & thoughtful, the Moomin books are about how to be a person & to live with others while honouring individuality & character 🥰

I adore Moomins so we took my daughter to Kew Gardens as they have a Moomin trail to follow over the Easter holiday...I was a bit disappointed in the Moomin experience but the weather was beautiful. I wish there had been some Moomins walking about but there wasn't one!!

I discovered Finnish Tove Jansson and her Moomins with my children. Now she is one of my favourites. So delightful! Such sweet, sad, funny, philosophical stories that children and adults can enjoy. If you are okay with whimsy mixed with a bit of melancholy, then I highly recommend.

I was thrilled to visit the Moomin Adventure at South Bank yesterday. It was amazing. They had recreated parts of the books and had some of Tove's original artwork. On return I decided to re read some of by he books :)
