#bookreport @Cinfhen
Pretty disappointing week of reading....
Finished both, but both were decidedly #Mehnotyeah
- #unpopularopinion time... Although I liked the story itself, I found the writing of Erotic Stories to be pretty poor.
- After loving ‘Eligible‘, I had high hopes of this Austen Project novel...but this one just didn‘t work for me. The premise was not updated enough, so just didn‘t work in its modern day setting. 👎

squirrelbrain I didn‘t love Erotic Stories either; I liked it but that was all...nothing special. 1d
AlaMich I like the first half of Erotic Stories, but then it turned into a sort of mystery, as I recall, and just got weird. 1d
Cinfhen At least you completed it for bookclub😏what did the bookclub think about it🤔 1d
KarenUK @Cinfhen it‘s on Wednesday.... I‘ll be interested to see... 🤔 22h

#weeklyforecast
2 new ones to start today, though I‘m working a 9 hour shift so not sure what start I‘ll make! 🤦‍♀️
The Trollope is for #pop19 a reimagined classic, and has been on my #tbr forever! Hope I like it as much as Eligible, the only other one I‘ve read from the Austen Project...
Erotic Stories is for a bookclub next week... and is narrated by Meera Syal who I love 😊👍🎧💕

Mehso-so

I read the eversion of this book. And while I thought I was going to really enjoy it, it ended up being kinda meh for me. I got tired of keeping score and found it created too many interruptions in the story. I, that is my character, broke my neck and died pretty early on, so I tried alternative paths. I ended up with 3 other conclusions and called it a day. 2.5/5⭐️

The lovely Worsley shines a #RayOfLight on Jane Austen in this recent-ish Austen biography. I love Worsley‘s writing style, a very conversational narrative with humor mixed in. #Movember

Cinfhen Love the cover 💕 2w
kspenmoll Sounds good. Agree with @Cinfhen , the cover is lovely. 2w
Moonprismpower I feel like Jane Austen is really in right now especially with the new Emma coming out which I must see. But I‘ve also wanted to start a reading binge of her works, if I can find the time! 2w
LeahBergen This was really well done. 👍🏻 2w

Thank you @CrowCAH for telling me about The Lizzie Bennet Diaries on YouTube. It took me months to get around to it, but then I binged on the whole series + spinoffs in three days. Then I promptly ordered the book with all the off camera action. Best modern setting adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Best! ❣️

emz711 I had no idea they made a book! 2w
Leniverse @emz711 I haven't read it yet, it just arrived in the mail, but apparently it's Lizzie's private diary and includes the full text of Darcy's letter and stuff like that. 2w
CrowCAH You‘re very welcome! I‘m so glad you enjoyed it! 🥰 I agree, it‘s a great adaptation told in such a unique way! (I own the book pictured, but haven‘t read it yet, hope to do so soon) 2w

Emilymdxn It‘s my fave Jane Austen too!!! SO frequently overlooked idk why so many people don‘t like it. I love hearing from other people who love it as much as I do! 3w
Branwen @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620 Thank you! 🤗💕 @Emilymdxn REALLY?!?! Omg that makes me so happy that it's your favorite too! Nobody else seems to like it and it drives me crazy! 😂🤣 I can't figure out why! It's so fantastic! 3w

“Walter Scott has no business to write novels, especially good ones. It is not fair. He has fame and profit enough as a poet, and should not be taking the #bread out of the mouths of other people.”
