A good girls trip to NYC.
A good girls trip to NYC.
Littens! I have been out of pocket due to midterms followed by a whirlwind 48 hour trip to NYC with my older daughter. My first time to NYC, so of course I had to visit The Strand! Purchases = the script for Betrayal, the play we saw on our trip, for Katie and a Strand tote for me.
Somehow I resisted this fabulous new Strand tote this afternoon. It‘s printed to look like it has pins on it. I‘m in love. 😍 Next time!
📚💜✨H E A V E N✨💜📚
PS I should NOT be left unsupervised here.... 😏
More like 18 miles of tote bags, am I right?? 📚👜👜📚
From yesterday‘s adventure: the damage is done 😁
FYI if you don‘t frequent the Strand as much as I tend to, some good advice is to NEVER pick up a book from the front tables and head off to the registers without checking the stacks for additional copies which are LIKELY marked down. Usually they‘re still like new but for whatever reason are half price. My digging this time really paid off!
From yesterday‘s adventure: a few other Strand displays to get a bibliophile‘s heart racing 😍
From yesterday‘s adventure: this is always my favorite table at the Strand. The majority of my hauls come from here— The Future of Fiction. I own most pictured here but there were a few new ones I snagged. 😉
Did anyone else see The Stand announcement today? 😂😂😂https://www.strandbooks.com/strindle?utm_source=Strand+Newsletter&utm_campaign=3d8dd69b2c-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_03_29&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_94fd8572f3-3d8dd69b2c-191535849&mc_cid=3d8dd69b2c&mc_eid=21764053cb
I‘m in NYC and didn‘t waste much time getting to @strandbookstore ... got a decent #bookhaul, including a signed Tayari Jones!
Also got some stuff for @MallenNC but she‘ll have to wait until I get home to see it!
Please join us in celebrating the life of literary legend, Strand Book Store owner, Fred Bass on Friday, January 26th, 6:45pm-8pm in Strand's Art Department (2nd floor). Head to Strand's Facebook for additional details.
It is with a heavy heart we share that Strand‘s owner, Fred Bass, passed away early this morning at home surrounded by loved ones at the age of 89. At the age of 13, Fred began to work alongside his father, Strand‘s founder Benjamin Bass, at the bookstore and spent 77 years doing what he loved most. We thank Fred for his passion and dedication, and our thoughts are with the Bass family.
Hey Littens thought you'd like my new buttons from the @strandbookstore on a NYC shopping expedition with my mom ☺️🤘🏻
This bag is stuffed with goodies for my match! It's a relief to be (mostly) done. Might pick up a few cute additions to the package and get it out next weekend. So exciting! 🤗📚📚

Ah, the Strand 😍😍😍 I will be in NYC 17-24 Nov; I expect massive book shopping there 😅
Takes my breath away. Thank you, @strandbookstore , for having this gorgeous section in your store. #bookporn #NYC 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I made it to the promised land! Spent a whirlwind (and very wet) day in NYC so we made he most of it. Tour bus, lots of subway riding, too much food, and of course The Strand!
Such a fun visit. Mr. Z and I were pretty good and only got 8 books and a tote bag. Plus we shipped everything so we didn't have to carry it all in the rain. The down sides: not being to read my new books immediately and forgetting one of the titles I bought. 😂
The Strand's Rare Book Room, picture 1! 😁 #NYC #bookstorecrawl
Outside The Strand are a slew of Specials carts. They go waaaaay back! One could spend an hour or more browsing books OUTSIDE the store before ever setting foot INSIDE it 😂👏🏻. I know, I've done it 😉👍🏻. #bookporn #NYC #bookstorecrawl Tomorrow...pictures of the legendary Rare Book Room! 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The lobby of #TheStrand! 😊👌🏻 #NYC #bookstorecrawl
Houston, we've landed! The Strand *Ode To Joy begins playing in the background* 😎👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 #NYC #TheStrand #bookstorecrawl
The mecca in NYC for booklovers is The Strand! Did you know that they have a matching quiz on their job applications that changes every year?

I got 35/50, which is more than I expected! Take The quiz and let me know how you do!! #TheStrand #Quiz #booksmarts
Me trying to take pictures discreetly in #thestrand Can't look touristy you know. 🤣
What's a trip to NYC without a visit to The Strand Bookstore? Pictured here: The Strand, an awesome tote bag and a special TFIOS bench.
SURPRISE TRIP TO THE STRAND. Much quieter at 9:30 at night! @strandbookstore
I got to visit The Strand bookstore yesterday. It was amazing. The rare book room was really cool and so relaxing.
NYC Bookhaul part 3: strand tote bag (featuring what else? Books and cats) and 26 strand bookmarks because the clerk took pity on me #thestrand #bookandcat
Visited @strandbookstore for the first time today. While in this section, I made sure to follow some wise words of advice: "Don't speak Latin in front of the books." ??
A bit more shopping for #CupidGoesPostal. Need to go to one last bookish spot before I stuff the box. Decided to give my match my 2 favorite books! 😇

The piece with Alison Bechdel was outstanding as she so eloquently described her writing process and the intersection with her concern for how the work would impact the people in her life. I skimmed the rest of the chapters either because the conversations weren't compelling or because I didn't care very much about the subjects. It might be enjoyable for someone who knows more about the rest of the authors.
Got these bookish buttons for my 13yo at The Strand and NYPL. Love that this is a thing again and that they are bookish- even better!!
Spotted on a Tshirt at The Strand...words to live by people, words to live by. 😏
My visit to this amazing book haven was cut a little short because after days of book tourism, 18 miles of books and book related awesomeness was overwhelming. I could almost hear Jack Nicholson yelling, "You can't handle the books!!" (Metaphorically, not literally, because of course I did pick some up!)
Reading this between other books
My first day exploring the city when I moved here started at the Strand. It's crazy to think three years later and I now work here. And with such an amazing team. Feeling a lot of book love and pride today. Happy Independent Bookstore day!
