Luckily I wasn‘t reading this in a cabin in the woods. LOVED the way nothing was as it seems.
This book is unnerving, creepy, bloody, and perfect for the Halloween season.

A perfectly creepy story about two sisters who find a doll‘s head in the woods. By the time they realize how powerful the doll is, it just might be too late.
The story is creepy and quick. Perfect for middle-grade readers! The author, Jody Lee Mott did a fantastic virtual visit with our students!!
Every school library should own this book! I recommend for 4th grade & up. The powerful story is based on Mohamed‘s real-life childhood growing up in a refugee camp. It tackles some seriously tough topics but the graphic novel format makes it more approachable. Reading & discussing as a class is optimal to help students understand the subject. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I LOVE fractured fairy tales. And this one is no exception. It was fun to see how the responsibilities of being queen changed Ariel; and five years after Ursula won the final battle that isn‘t the only change. What a great book - I loved it!! I can‘t wait to read the rest of the series!!
Thanks again to @kstadt929 for this amazing book - great choice! And thanks to @TheBookKeepers for all the fun of #justabookswap
Takes place sometime after Aliens on an isolated scientific research station where Weyland-Yuntani managed to store some eggs from the Xenomorphs. I listened to the audio and enjoyed it but it follows the typical formula of the Alien stories. So, nothing new but it is well-written and creepy as hell. Worth a listen if you‘re a fan.
This is a great graphic novel that uses color to emphasize the magical parts of the story. Pri is a great character and I enjoyed her journey of self-discovery. Perfect for upper elementary or middle school.
Fabulous early chapter book (part of a series). Diverse, smart female lead character. Zoey uses the scientific method to figure out how to help the sick magical animals who come to her barn. There‘s a glossary at the end too.
Full of action and twists - I loved the ending. Apparently there is an epilogue but only in the hardcover - not in my kindle version. 🤷🏻♀️
Amal is a strong girl who isn‘t afraid to stand up for what she believes in. This book is a realistic look at a different culture and was eye-opening for me.
I highly recommend this to middle grade readers and librarians.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a wonderful job.
I read this for #LitsyAtoZ Challenge
I was so excited to find this in my mail yesterday!!
It‘s my #justabookswap gift 🎁
Thank you so much @kstadt929 !! I‘ve been meaning to read this book and I LOVE retellings.
Thanks again for hosting @TheBookKeepers !
I sent out my #justabookswap gift yesterday (via Amazon, so no picture). So exciting!! @TheBookKeepers
This is the book that King himself has called his scariest. Perhaps because it centers on a fear most people share - death. And it shows how far a person might go to cheat death.
Michael C. Hall gave an amazing performance on this audiobook. Highly recommended if you‘re looking for a good scare.
I borrowed this from the library. Check out the creepy cover. ☠️
This book is a fun continuation to the series. I remain spellbound by this version of Oz, as dark and dangerous as it is. I recommend this to fans of alternate realities and fractured fairy tales.
I‘m counting this towards

I love the Magisterium series and this final book is no different. My only complaint is that this is supposed to be the final book in the series. But, there‘s always the Collegium... or one can hope anyway.
Highly recommended to fans of well developed magical universes (especially in grades 4-8).
The plot was slow at times but was intrigued enough to keep reading as I tried to figure out who the killer was. The story is well-written and seems realistic except for the fact that a teenage girl is the only one clever enough to figure out the evidence. But I do get it. Kate is the intrepid sleuth (ala Nancy Drew).
Recommended to YA mystery fans.
I loved this and couldn‘t wait to see how it would end. The Wild West feel was original captivating. I loved the MC Lynn and watching her mature and adapt to her changing situation.
There is an event near the end that broke my heart but I enjoyed the book and highly recommend it.
I love the way the tension builds slowly - we know something bad happened in the past, but what? We also know that something even more terrible is coming. The claustrophobia builds as the blizzard traps the characters and closes the town off from the outside world.
I had to go back and re-read the prologue because it didn‘t make much sense until I understood more of the story.
Highly recommended to fans of the supernatural.
Overall good book by one of my favorite authors but not especially scary. I enjoyed the character development during the first part of the book more than the ending. I cared for Jamie and wanted to see things work out for him but I spent a lot of time waiting for the other shoe to drop.
The audio was very well done.
Four short stories. I enjoyed the 1st about a Polaroid camera that steals memories and the 4th about deadly rain of crystal nails. The other two were a bit disappointing. The second about a mall shooting with a terrible ending and the third about a guy stuck on a cloud which was quirky with an annoying main character.
This book combines the tension of being on a US submarine in Russian waters during the Cold War with the terror of supernatural killers. Trapped deep underwater as men are dying around them the crew has no idea what they are facing. A terrifyingly creepy read.
Merry Christmas Littens!!
Total hours for my first #24B4Monday. I managed to finish the tagged book and made some progress on Ghost Story.
Thanks @TheReadingMermaid for the fun challenge!!
We found this sweet little angel in a parking lot. We have always been dog people, but we are all in love with her. 💜 #catsoflitsy
So I spent some time last night & today with this book. For my first #24B4Monday challenge, I guess I‘m doing ok. Hopefully I will get more reading done today.
@TheReadingMermaid
I‘m in. I haven‘t done one of these before. Any rules or suggestions?

I say thirteen is too many dogs for good mental health. Five is pretty much the limit. More than five dogs and you forfeit your right to call yourself entirely sane.
Even if the dogs are small.

The Babymouse books are great. I haven‘t read this one, but it does fit today‘s prompt. 😊

This a great Halloween read aloud. It was also made into a TV movie but I haven‘t seen it.

Serafina sees a man in a black cloak abducting children from the Biltmore mansion while she is wandering the halls at night.
This is a spooky story with a remarkable turn of events. I need to read the rest of the series.

Loved this book, but I never got around to reading the rest of the series.

This looked so cute I just had to join. I love quotes!!
“I am where dead children go.”
This book is fabulously scary, bloody, and suspenseful. It is a YA horror book that combines teenage angst with a Japanese ghost story.
This starts out a bit slow but really picks up when the flashbacks begin. I knew who the authors wanted me to think was the killer and who I wanted the killer to be, but I didn‘t know the truth until the very end. Basically this is a twisty, scary, serial killer book.
I listened to the audio. I thought having a male & female narrator switch off was going to bother me, but it didn‘t. Guess I was caught up in the story.
“It began the night we died on the Kamikaze.”
Now that‘s a great opening line.
This book is fast-paced and creepy with a satisfying ending. It‘s a supernatural carnival that takes your soul if you don‘t ride seven rides before dawn. And the rides tap into your greatest fears.
A middle grade thriller about a small town that thinks they know who the bad guy is. This one was just ok for me. But it was a quick read with some twists and creepy moments. The plot covers some touchy subjects (like murders of pets & children) so may be best for grades 6 & up.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 stars
According to the Amazon page, this book was inspired by Agatha Christie‘s And Then There Were None. I never read that book though I probably should.
I didn‘t like most of the characters, but the book is a fast-paced, easy read that kept me guessing until the very end. I had different suspicions throughout the book, but they were wrong, which is always fun.
3 1/2 out of 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ ✨
Rain‘s life is spinning out of control and now her nightmares are coming to life. This one is a bit of a slow burn, but totally worth it. I was surprised by some of the twists and the ending. This a bit different from Maberry‘s YA books but good in its own right. I especially love Monk, a cross between a private detective and paranormal vigilante.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars
I loved this audiobook. The narrator was amazing; made me feel like I was trapped with Gillian - the constant fear, claustrophobia, and doubt. The story combines sci-fi, horror, and suspense into a gripping adventure. As much as I thought I knew about how it would turn out, I was still surprised.

This is a brutal, bloody story. Four generations of the Willet family have spent their lives training to defeat the Jersey Devil and they have the firepower to do it. But they didn‘t count on how much the evil has grown. Btw, this book is not for the squeamish.
