Day 4 of lockdown and I decided to do a long distance prank on my grandparents - who don‘t know that hair colour filters are a thing 🤣

Pa said it wasn‘t one of my better ideas and that it doesn‘t match my mask and Nana suggested I take up knitting...

I‘ve picked my mask for tomorrow accordingly 😂

Moonprismpower Gosh I was seriously considering coloring my hair again for when my library patrons return our first day open! Then I thought better of it. I‘m thinking a clip in strip of fake color. 😁🤣 3y
AlaMich 🤣 3y
Tamra 🤣 Good one! 3y

thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Moonprismpower, I‘m going to keep sending photos to them. See how long they‘ll believe me for 🤣 a strip of colour is certainly the lower maintenance option while still being lots of fun! Do you know when you reopen? 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Tamra, if we have to endure a fourth hard lockdown... it‘s the little things! 😂 3y
CarolynM Actually, I like it🙂 A friend has recently gone teal and it looks great. 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @CarolynM, I kind of like it too. I sent them another photo today - with my hair dry and the green is a bit more extreme. (edited) 3y
Moonprismpower @thegirlwiththelibrarybag TODAY! My library opens today!!!🎉🎉 I‘m nervous and excited 3y

Hello Ladies,

Here is what I have to offer for #LMPBC #Round9 #GroupA GNs

Labyrinth - with a new movie coming out to ruin my childhood it might be a good time to read this (i have the entire series 3 bks)

5 Worlds - Middle Grade and up GN (i have the first 2 or 3 books)

Skeleton Night - the publishers brought this book out in Manga and in novel form at the same time in the US. (i have novels 1-3 and GN 1)

LibrarianRyan Snot Girl - This is on Rolling Stone's list of the 50 best non-superhero GN (I have book 1 and 2)

Fables Vol 1 - also on the Rolling Stone list - Long series that is a retelling of multiple fables and fairytales. meant for adults. The author/illustrator has multiple GN and other awards.

Middlewest - this is the new series by the guy who did I Hate Fairyland. I don't own this, but it would give me a reason to buy it.

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Fables is so so good but it is a BIG commitment. I have the Labyrinth books but I haven‘t read them yet! 4y
LibrarianRyan @TobeyTheScavengerMonk I'm a little afraid to read the Labyrinth books. There are been other series specifically Return the the Labyrinth that wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I did like what they did with the Dark Crystal graphic novels so I have high hopes. I agree - isn't Fables in like the 20s? I cant remember. I have read a few but never in order so when I happened on book 1 i had to snag it. 4y

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Yeah, 20+ volumes and several really essential spin-offs. I feel the exact same about the Labyrinth books. 4y
vonnie862 A return of Labyrinth? 4y
LibrarianRyan @vonnie862 Yeah, over a decade ago when Tokyo Pop had the market cornered on Manga in the US they put out titles to draw non-magna readers in. It's not letting me tag the book from my desk top but I will from my phone in a minute. I believe there was 3 or 4 volumes. Toby has grown up and jareth has chosen him to take over as the Goblin King. They also did one for the Dark Crystal. But it really sucked. (And I have it somewhere). 4y
vonnie862 Thank you for the tag! I had to look up about the movie. Not sure how I feel about having a sequel. 4y
LibrarianRyan @vonnie862 no Bowie no thank you. It‘s my bad day movie 4y

cwarnier I have not heard of any of these titles. Snotgirl, Middlewest and Fables I may have to check out if you don't pick. (obviously you will only pick one book :) ) 4y
REPollock I vote either snot girl or middlewest. 4y
mklong Those are all new to me too. Middlewest and Fables catch my eye the most from this list. 4y
LibrarianRyan @mklong @Repollock @cwarnier you all said Middlewest so i am hitting the buy buttoon. 4y
cwarnier LOVE it ! I will have to go find Snotgirls on my own. 4y

The most interesting thing about the comic is the way that
Lottie is portrayed: self-centered, spoiled, messy, naive, and so human.

There's a bit of mystery and intrigue surrounding her and her newfound friend but it's just enough to gain interest and make a reader wonder what's going on. I'm thinking to find the next one to see if it answers the questions while enjoying the fun artwork.

Totally brings in a new perspective on how you can view yourself as a person and how sometimes it can be wrong. But with the people who care for you, you can see yourself through their eyes.

The art is great. Fantastic colors! But the story is...not much. This ends on a big cliffhanger but I'm not at all tempted to read further.

Mimi28 I read them both. It is kinda weird. Great illustrations though. 6y

While I can see that some have found this comic annoying, I really enjoyed the vapid, snotty (all puns intended) fashion bloggers and seeing them believe that the smallest things mattered and were totally going to ruin their lives. The ending of this one will definitely have me coming back for more. The creator of Scott Pilgrim has done it again!

StellarDoc I just bought this! 7y

In the beginning, I wasn‘t sure I was going to like this; she‘s shallow, fake and generally unlikeable. The storyline seemed to be heading somewhere weird, and I wasn‘t sure what to expect. And then, it turned a corner!! Oh man, is this a crazy, unpredictable ride. All the questions I have!! The art and colouring is also beautiful beyond words.

The green dye barely took. :( I'm bummed. All my life I've wanted to be a verdigrette, and Clairol's Colour Crave has LET ME DOWN.

Soon as the greenish bits fade, I'll redye it my usual violent shade of red.

MarriedtoMrT Bummer! 7y
ferskner Dye is so unpredictable! 7y
Jess7 I would of thought you would need to bleach it before dying it green so the color would take 7y

Mimi28 I hate it when that happens! I used to have fiery red dreadlocks about 5 years ago believe it or not, lol. I tried again about a year ago and it didn't take. I know what you are going through ❤️❤️ 7y
xicanti @MarriedtoMrT @ferskner I slathered it on so thick, too, and left it on for ages. :( 7y
xicanti @Jess7 I was excited when I found this dye because the package said there was no need to bleach your hair before you applied it. My hair was a pretty good match for one of the tone swatches, too. Sigh. 7y
ferskner If it helps, it looks very Anne of Green Gables! There's your Halloween costume! 7y
xicanti @Mimi28 boo hair mishaps! 7y
RaimeyGallant You can just do it the old fashioned way like I did when I was 15: bleach your hair and then go swimming in chlorine a lot. 7y

Jokila @AmandaL I'm not sure I'll get vol 2 either, but I did really like the art too. did you like Scott Pilgrim? 7y

MarriedtoMrT Pretty picture but I just can't with that GN. 7y
Ekkross I felt the same! The characters are awful. O'Malley has written much better women in other books and I feel like he dropped the ball in this one. 7y
Jokila @MarriedtoMrT @Ekkross oh my, this is less popular than I'd expected. I do actually like the MC (she's so neurotic, I can't blame her), but the plot is SO petty 7y

I actually have mixed feelings about this book. I feel like lottie isn't a likeable character and maybe she isn't meant to be. The story and art make me want to continue reading. What really happened to cool girl? Can I be best friends with cute girl? What will happen to Charleen? I need to know.

Snotgirl is vapid and vain but I couldn't help but feeling a little bit sorry for her at points. As much as I enjoyed this, it may not be for everyone! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Lottie is a protagonist that is both unlikable and boring. She has a gross, vapid personality that leaves me hating her pretty much from the first page. None of the characters have any sort of personality. No time is spent on developing it. The text speak screams try-hard. It begs the reader to feel pandered to. And if you need to add footnotes in your comic to explain what is happen--you're doing it wrong. This book is not fun. It's gross.

You guys, I have no idea what to expect from this book but it was too weird/fascinating not to pick up!

Does she have a snot-related superpower??

#graphicnovel #comic

AshHisson Can't wait to hear what you think of it. 7y
BraveNewBooks @AshHisson I'm not quite sure! So, no, no snot superpowers. More like allergies that threaten her picture-perfect image. But I'm not certain what's real and what's in her head, so... guess I need to read Vol.2! 7y
AshHisson Well I guess it can't be too bad if you're open to reading volume 2. 7y

Ehhhhhhh.....

The coloring is excellent (same colorist as Jonesy, I think). The art is fine.

The story I do not care for. This is like if Cher from Clueless was an actual terrible person. With allergies that look like a raging bacterial infection.

Subtext: this book is not for Melissas.

Notafraidofwords Love her green hair. 8y

This comic is so funny and the artwork is gorgeous. O'Malley is good at writing self-absorbed characters that you still like. Here he is satirizing social media obsessed culture. If you like Scott Pilgrim, you'll like this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This comic is weird, quirky, Millennial, satirical, & gross because of all the boogers. It's also a murder mystery (or is it?) set against the glamorous New York world of secretly insecure fashion bloggers. Take your allergy meds & check out the irresistible Snotgirl.

"Snottie" is an interesting fashion blogging creature who is basically allergic to life. Enter prescription meds and things get curiouser and curiouser. It was weird, but I'll read the others just to figure out what is going on in this hot mess of a girl's life. #SnotGirl #Snottie #GraphicNovels #Allergies #SayNoToDrugs

I picked this trade up this afternoon, and it's a fun fast read. It's written by the creator of Scott Pilgrim, so I was going to read it anyway, no matter how gross I find the name. The colors and art are really attractive. It's a very millennial story about a fashion blogger and her "friends." The comics mostly set up the characters and their relationships. I'm not certain what's going on, and things ended on a cliffhanger, so now I wait for vol2
