⭐️⭐️⭐️Jar of Hearts is pretty dark and gritty with a few shocking twists. Some parts were super icky, so be warned! I enjoyed the duel POV‘ s in this story and felt it kept the pace going. I wouldn‘t have minded a third POV from Calvin tbh. But the story wove nicely throughout and kept me entertained. Decent thriller for sure!
Dark, gritty, and twisty, I really enjoyed this. I found the characters to have depth and imperfections that made them feel like real people - sometimes easy to root for and other times feeling appalled by their choices. I did sort of figure out the twist, but the build up to it was everything you want from a thriller. The ending was a bit rushed, but I think I just wanted more. Especially since I‘m not sure how to feel about that epilogue. 4⭐️

It‘s not Folsom Prison but this is a dark & twisty novel featuring a woman, Geo, who goes to prison for 5 years for her involvement in the 14-year-old crime-the murder of her best friend in high school by Geo‘s serial killer boyfriend/first love. She‘s out when new & eerily similar murders start happening…
#FolsomPrisonBlues
This was a pretty twisted tale. A lot of broken people doing a lot of messed up stuff. An interesting twist that was also 🤢. I read (listened) to this for a bestie book club over on TikTok and can‘t wait to hear what everyone else thought…it can get pretty funny! 🌟🌟🌟
Started well - Geo is on trial for aiding her boyfriend Calvin in the murder of her high school friend 14 years earlier. Calvin is a on trial as a serial killer. The story goes from the present to past with flashbacks to high school. Present day copycat murders begin but the twist is children are being killed (didn't notice that in TWs) -that's when I'm out.
Would have been a good J for my #AlphabeticalBingo -
Make a great day everyone 😊
I've always been a big fan of Pinterest, and making vision boards, especially when reading books! While on Pinterest I stumbled across a new app, Shuffles by Pinterest! You can even import your pictures from Pinterest! ♥️ Not sponsored, I promise. 😅 Here's my Shuffle from my latest read! #jarofhearts #jenniferhillier #bookshuffles
This thriller begins at the end. Geo has agreed to testify against her boyfriend in the murder of her best friend 14 ago in exchange for a 5 year sentence as an accomplice. She has admitted to helping him hide the body, and for remaining silent. The story goes back and forth in time, and shifts in perspectives. This is a dark book that borders on horror. I wasn‘t interested in all of the parts, but together they paint a stunning portrait of evil.
What a page turner! The subject matter is heavy - violent death, child death, non-consentual sex and prison. There were many times throughout this book that I felt yucky finding the writing so propelling. It's a pick but one I would only recommend to certain people. So many trigger warnings.

This is one of my fav self photos. I volunteered at a cat show this fall and got to meet this darling girl.
The best thing to happen to my family in the last 5 years is our.dog Raven.
Starting off 2023 with this as my first physical book of the year. I've been in a mystery/thriller kick lately.
A book about a woman who went to jail for participating in her high school best friend's murder 16 years after it happens. It goes back and forth between current time and the past.
I do love a good mystery and "why did this happen". The writing was good and I sped through the book because I had to know! It was enjoyable, although I felt the ending was a bit anticlimactic and certainly left me with some questions about the characters' futures.
I did the audiobook version, and thought it was very good. I especially liked way the book ended, because I didn‘t see it coming. The story was a bit graphic and twisted, which I like. If you like books a little serial killers, you‘ll probably like this one.
Speechless! It‘s one of those thrillers that messes with your mind for a few days.

Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier. @jenniferhillierbooks I LOVE psychological thrillers and this is one I can‘t wait to read. It has great rating and reviews. It‘s full of suspense and mystery and it‘s on the top of my TBR right now.
Have you read it?

Two books down this weekend for #jubilantjuly readathon. I really enjoyed both. Jar of Hearts was creepy and dark with lots of plot twists, I couldn‘t put it down. Long Way Down is beautifully written in verse, I can‘t stop thinking about it. Also unputdownable, read it in one sitting. @Andrew65
I thought that the writing in this book was really good. It kept my interest and had some interesting twists. I personally felt like the story was a bit familiar, like I‘ve read books that came together in a similar way and I figured out the ending pretty quickly. I did like the way that the story was told from different perspectives and places. Definitely a chilling story that came together well in the end.
Loved this book. It was so good. If you like psychological thrillers with some serial killer thrown in, you need to read it. I will def be reading more books by Hillier.
This is my third Jennifer Hillier book & I cannot get enough. Her thrillers are dark, twisty, & unputdownable. Geo is a corporate executive living the life most people only dream of when her past comes back to haunt her. The disappearance of her best friend Angela 14 years earlier threatens to upend her world again. When new bodies begin to turn up, Geo must decide if she will keep her secrets buried in the past. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book was pretty good, I definitely enjoyed it. I know a lot of people say this book was pretty sick, but if you like reading stephan king, this is right up your alley. I kinda figured who it was throughout the book and it turned out to be who I thought it was. But I still enjoyed it and think it's worth the read. 4/5

Addictive, dark, and twisted… I loved this book! This was one of the best thrillers I‘ve read in quite some time. I thought it was well written and impossible to put down, but I must warn that it might be too disturbing and graphic for some readers.
CW: multiple rapes, graphic violence

Despite some of its flaws this was very entertaining and fast-paced thriller. It wasn‘t always the most enjoyable listen because the storyline was so dark and it was hard to root for anyone but the narrator (January LaVoy) did an excellent job.
3.5 stars
Finished this last night when I should have been sleeping, and it was so good! So good that I don‘t even regret the fact that I got less than three hours of sleep before my shift today 👻😳
+16 points for #TeamSlaughter with more readthon points to come at the end of the week! #scarathlon2021 #littenlisten @aperfectmjk #spookoweenreadathon @TheSpineView #screamathon @4thhouseontheleft #bfc21 @wanderinglynn #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks 🖤

Book Twitter is often a dumpster fire, but it also cracks me up
First Hillier and I have to say, she is twisted! These people are f*cked up! I've been ploughing through audios and each keeps getting more twisted than the last. A part of this one had me gagging a little. TW: besides the obvious murders & graphic post mortem descriptions, rape...multiple.
Well done, I was surprised with the one twist but then it made the final reveal obvious, though I think it's intended for the reader to know that.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I enjoyed this thriller from beginning to end. A fourteen year old murder changes the life of Geo and those around her. Several twists and turns in this book.
I loved this! A great mystery that alternates between past and present, with a surprising ending! Will definitely read more by Hillier! 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Starting this while I eat lunch!

This one kept my interest, and kept me guessing for a lot longer than most books of this genre do at this point. The storyline is an original one, and the storytelling was good. The only thing that sort of took me out of it was that the actual 'jar of hearts' felt pretty gimmicky.
1. Favorite place to read is in bed (nice and cozy) 🛏📚 2. Favorite genre is psychological thrillers 🤪 3. Favorite reading snack is popcorn 🍿 4. Favorite cereal is lucky charms ❤️🌟🧲🍀🌙💰🌈🎈 #playtagshare
In my top 3 from 2020! Beautifully written and definitely was not able to put down! I stayed up until 2 last night finishing it and it was well worth it. The entire book kept me on my toes and I did not see the twists at all! 5/5⭐️
Fresh storyline in a familiar trope (woman returns after a long-ago murder). The writer creates a flawed, yet likable, main character and draws on the emotions up until the very end.
This book was a quick read and extremely dark. I loved every minute of it and could not put it down. It was thrilling and had a plot twist at the end, that I did not predict. I‘d highly recommend
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reminded me of Karin Slaughter, not for the faint of heart, a great thriller
Jar of Hearts was dark and disturbing. I liked it.
I plan on reading more of her work.
Maya Angelou is a wonderful poet. She really puts feeling in her work. I highly recommend her poetry. Beautiful.
Both books are enjoyable
Very dark and twisty! I plan on catching up on some of Hillier's previous books, because dark and twisty is pretty much how I like my thrillers.
This book is twisted. I was hooked from beginning to end. If you‘re looking for a thriller that‘s truly messed up and fast paced this is the one for you.
