while i think there could have been no greater ending to this series, it dragged a little for me. but all in all, i did thoroughly enjoy this book and as usual, i think the movie is fairly well adapted. there was a stronger and appreciated sense of that political aspect of dystopia. i am such a haymitch stan and i do not apologize for that at all. there are much worse games to play!!! i love suzanne collins‘s writing style.
“I no longer feel any allegiance to these monsters called human beings, despise being one myself… Because something is significantly wrong with a creature that sacrifices its children's lives to settle its differences.”
-Katniss, page 377
“Closing my eyes doesn't help. Fire burns brighter in the darkness.”
-Katniss, page 352
“Fire is catching! …
And if we burn, you burn with us!”
-Katniss, page 100
Agh, this is beautiful, dark, emotional, thought provoking series. Was Mockingjay my favorite book in the trilogy? No, the book is depressing, but it couldn‘t have ended any other way! Life goes on, it‘s horrible. I was more aware this reread of the fact that Katniss is a CHILD- malnourished, oppressed, deeply traumatized by violence. Her inner dialogue affected me deeply, especially as the books went on and became more intense. Lots to unpack ⬇️
i liked this book. it was a little too political but was still very good. i wasn‘t a huge fan of gale. i felt so bad for peeta the whole time and wished katniss had been more understanding.

This new version narrated by Tatiana Maslany made a difference in tone. Maybe because I'm aware of Maslany and her range from "Orphan Black," but she could capture Katniss in a different way than the previous narrator - Her Katniss is stoic, full of rage, saddened, naïve, and young. Yet, hardened, damaged both physically and mentally. She's deadened by war & loss, and that is evident in her actions & in her way of compartmentalizing herself.
A great end to the series! I really liked the idea of the districts and a ruling capitol. I missed being in the arena, but I guess not all three books can be the same. The trip through the capitol was very thrilling though! Katniss was a bit whiny in the end, but maybe she had good reasons. Very nice story!

there are much worse games to play.
Last book of the series!! I‘m so sad it‘s over. Like the 2 books before, I could not put it down. It‘s packed full of adventure and keeps you on edge the whole time! I‘m really going to miss this series!
This book was an incredible ending the series.
Overall it was a good book and a good finisher to the trilogy. I do think that the ending was kind of anticlimactic and a little unsatisfying.
Truly lost for words. Let the momentary feeling of hollowness sink in as I fight to make peace with the bittersweet realization that this beautiful journey has finally come to an end. #thehungergames #mockingjay #theend
I have made it to the final book. But, the realization that there won‘t be any more books in the series awaiting to be read makes me want to put off reading this book or read it as slowly as I can...to slow down time...to savor every page, every word, not wanting it to end. Oh, how unprepared I am to get to the end!
I can tell it would be good because it is the continuation of the book “The Hunger Games.“ I would say the main character Katniss Everdeen is skilled with the bow and that she is able to survive what is known as The Annual Hunger Games.
Why I chose the book: I felt like it would be good to continue The Hunger Games collection because of the movies
Date started: September 9, 2019
Ended: September 30, 2019
Genre: Science fiction, Suspense, Thriller.
Wow. I‘m so sad that this is over. I‘ve enjoyed these books sooooo much! Once again, an amazing story and I‘ll now watch the films. I didn‘t want this to end at all. ☹️ LOVED.❤️
Making something special for my #cozyswap recipient while watching Mockingjay ❤️. I‘m so excited to be using the floss my husband ordered me from “across the pond” it‘s hand dyed AND ombré. I‘ve been waiting for something special to use it on and now is the time! Going to finish up a little more and finish reading my cozy mystery.
#ayupaugust #ipredictariot A lot of the conflicts in this book approach riot levels, in my remembrance!
...meanwhile, the movies remind me of what happens after you‘ve re-told the same story over and over again: you start to focus on the flashy parts bc every one loves a good action story, gloss over your thoughts and feelings that once seemed so important, some of the details have changed over the years, specifics wearing thin with age.
It's still the same story, but different somehow. (2/2)
The books & movies are the like same story told decades apart. The books are so introspective, like you‘re right there in Katniss‘s head when it‘s happening. All her thoughts, feelings, instincts, and regrets... (1/2) (image credit: https://www.deviantart.com/curry23/art/The-Hunger-Games-Katniss-the-Mockingjay-2...
I no longer feel any allegiance to these monsters called human beings, despite being one myself. I think that Peeta was onto something about us destroying one another and letting some decent species take over.
Although I loved the series and there was one part in this book that deeply saddened me, I still loved it.
This was a re-read for me, but my first time as an audiobook. Like last time Katniss drove me completely nuts through most of the book, but I liked the ending. Looking forward to the prequel next year.
My first walk post fracture on my normal walking route (one month ago today) was surprisingly emotional. And slow. #bfc
#30junebooks #J @howjessreads This prompt could have been interpreted in so many ways but I thought this was fun. And I get to highlight one of my fave YA series.
“Frankly, our ancestors don‘t seem much to brag about. I mean, look at the state they left us in, with the wars and the broken planet. Clearly, they didn‘t care about what would happen to the people who came after them.”
I‘ve almost finished reading the last book in the trilogy on my flight home. It truly is an escape from reality and I‘m trying to read it as slowly as possible as I don‘t want the journey to end. I know I started reading it late but it has quickly taken the place as my all time favorite books. #hungergames

For #SentimentalSunday I‘m in a Hunger Games frame of mind. My youngest asked the other day if he could watch the movies, so I‘ve been watching them with him this weekend...
I will always be a Peeta fan. ❤️

Mockingjay seemed to fit today‘s tag. Love this trilogy, this got me into YA books and Dystopian Fiction.
A solid ending to the trilogy.
I think I expected more about the falling of a tyrant and it's government but overall not a bad ending.
Last book, only regret is that there wasn't more after this, just amazing
Day 10: Pin
I don‘t have many bookish pins so I almost skipped today‘s challenge but then I remembered coming across this one last week.

I am the Mockingjay...
“Rimettere insieme i pezzi richiede dieci volte il tempo che serve per crollare.”
I'm not fully sure what I think of this book. I had to sleep on it, to be honest. On one hand, I love loved it. Again, so intense, so horrid and disastrously beautiful. On the other hand, I feel it was a little TOO packed with info. As if the chaos the characters experience is dripping off the pages.
I LOVE how Suzanne wrote Katniss' state of mind in the last 100 pages or so however. A. MA. ZING.
