Remember this from your childhood? Me too. I love vintage children's books so I often re-read this.

Nicely written exciting middle grade or so tale of Arthurian returns, missing grails, and a mysterious great uncle with an interesting name.
I had this book marked as already read but I have no memory of it at all, just of the not so good movie I saw years ago.
And this series is one of my focus series #SeriesLove2023

Can't believe my reread of this is so slooow. Maybe I'll get more time for it this weekend. Feels like I need the beloved familiarity, as well-worn and well-loved as my paperback of the whole sequence!
Rereading this in preparation for a seasonally appropriate reread of The Dark is Rising! Least consequential of the series in many ways, and very young, but I still enjoy it.
Another wonderful middle grade fantasy series! I have one left to read. (A common refrain unfortunately...) They are pretty wonderful: atmospheric, folkloric, unsettling. These gorgeous new editions are from Puffin. #20series20days @Andrew65
July 7th and this is where we are at. All thanks to this covid craziness...
ETA: Just upped my goal to 78...
If i was a kid, I'd have loved this book. As an adult, it's an enjoyable read, but nothing great. I'm torn about whether or not i want to try book two

Once upon a time...
What is this pattern about English children always finding doors in and around wardrobes? Maybe if wardrobes were more popular in the US, we all would have had more exciting childhoods! 😂
Thanks for the tag @MoonWitch94 #two4Tuesday
1 - that‘s a loaded question! 😆 Assuming neatly organized stacks on shelves don‘t count...I can think of two. Otherwise, many!
2 - tagged, which I pulled this morning along with the second in the series to fit a couple of SRP prompts

Final #7days7books this was one of the first series my mom read out loud to us and cultivated my love for all thing Arthurian.
Love this series. Excited to read them all again.
Well, I loved this! It was iffy at first (all that talk of the natives) but then Simon, Jane & Barney found a map and their real quest (to find the grail) began. I loved the writing esp. the description of the Cornwall landscape. I loved how fully each kid was characterized. I loved the range of adults. I loved that it felt truly menacing at times. I loved how Arthurian myth was woven into the everyday. So fun! Now to wait for Book 2!
I'm excited to read this beloved work of British fantasy for children...but I do wish they'd stop talking about fighting the natives. 🙄
I started reading this series as it was part of a recommended reading list in another book by Oberon Zell-Ravenheart and was instantly charmed. Though it is a little hard to read as she writes the accents really well. A lot slower then other books in the series but still a pick.
Finished this tonight as I sit here at the emergency vet with the doggo. I‘ve heard from many people that this series had a huge impact on them them as kids. I had never read it and decided it was time. I found it very underwhelming...slow pace, flat characters I never really cared for or connected with. I wanted to like it so much more! 😬
This book was a very slow read for me. The plot was there, the interest was there, but the pace and excitement were lacking. I never found myself saying "just one more page." A lot of times I made myself read further to a stopping point when I would've rather put it down mid paragraph. Lackluster is the word that keeps coming to mind. 3/5 ⭐'s
I've been wanting to reread The Dark is Rising sequence for quite awhile--maybe this year? The Sword in the Stone is still on the #neverendingtbr list. #Stone #ReadingResolutions
The rest of my Friday is looking pretty good.

Okay I am going to hit a few with this post. It's a fantasy #saga that was made into a depressingly okay movie about 10 years ago. Some were #publishedinthe70s as they range from 1965-1977. This was such a fantastical #journey when I was a child that when I saw a box set I had to buy it. One day I will pass it to my nephew even though I have had this set so long it's yellowed. All these books #gotogether never to be parted. #junliantjuly
Some of my favourite #fantasy books. Love the books that depict growing strangeness and unease when the lines between this world and an unknown one start to blur, with elements of mythology, folklore, and the old religions. #ReadingWomenMonth @thereadingwomen
I already used this for one #aprilbookshowers prompt, but since I finished it now and it fits the prompt for today, I'm using it again - three #siblings go on an Arthurian themed adventure. I liked the relationship between the siblings. They worked together well, if sometimes grudgingly, but they each also got to have their own piece of the adventure! Here's a picture of my sibling (and mom), while we are on the topic :)
My #currentread fits the #mythology prompt for today! Arthurian mythology abounds as three children try to help their great uncle on an adventure! #aprilbookshowers @RealLifeReading
The #spinepoetry has been amazing today. I decided to get in on it in my classroom and I'll do another tonight if I get the chance.

Finished this last night. Was a fast read and engrossing enough, but not my favourite book ever. I was undecided between giving it "pick" or "so-so" but in the end I had to go with pick, I did enjoy the characters and it certainly leaves a promise of lots of interesting things to come. I enjoyed it enough to want to read the rest of the books. Being a children's book there were some twists that were obvious and so, but all in all a fun read.
The story of how I got this book: when I was about 8-9 years old and fully obsessed with Harry Potter a friend of my parents told me she'd read a book series when she'd been my age that she loved and thought was a perfect fit - she gave me her whole collection...At the time I couldn't read in English so I stored them to read later and forgot about them - they were mentioned in the latest book I read and I knew it was time to read them!
