I was inspired by fellow bookish friends to join in on your top favorites for the past decade! Problem is, once I started picking books, I couldn‘t stop! This is in no particular order, or year. Julia's sister has been violently murdered. In order to find out who murdered her sister, Julia must become involved with a dangerous stranger online. Her search will jeopardize her marriage, her family and her life. I was a bit disappointed in this book. The main character was very annoying and I did not enjoy the explicit sexual language with the online scenes. It was slow getting started and rather boring. Read for yourself and decide!

Nein, das hier ist kein Thriller. Spannung fehlt fast völlig und die Handlung kommt einfach nicht in Fahrt. Die Protagonistin, die mir angesichts ihrer Unperfektheit erst noch sympathisch ist, geht mir ziemlich schnell auf den Senkel. Labil, formbar, naiv und ihrer Schwester, über die sie immer so ein wenig herzieht, ähnlicher als sie zugeben will. Auch der Klappentext täuscht, denn es geht gar nicht darum den Mörder finden.

Verzichtbar.

Anstrengender Tag, neues Hörbuch.

Dialog mit meiner ältesten Freundin.

Sie: „Ich hab grad »Tu es. Tu es nicht.« zu Ende gelesen, kennst du das?“

Ich: „Nee. Hör ich gerade zum ersten Mal.“ … *googelt* … „Ah. S. J. Watson. »Ich. darf. nicht. schlafen.« war als Hörbuch bis zum letzten Drittel spannend.“

Drei Minuten später.

Ich: „Danke für den Tipp. Meine Onleihe hat es im Bestand – und es war verfügbar. Was es jetzt – für die nächsten drei Wochen – nicht mehr ist.“ ???‍♀️

A little disappointed in this book.

Did not like this book. I saw a good amount of the twists coming and that ending wasn‘t an ending. I hate those ambiguous endings. I didn‘t read 402 pages of this to not have a proper conclusion. Ugh. And why do all main characters have to be imbeciles?

I don‘t know if I would have enjoyed this as much if I‘d actually read it - the reviews are definitely mixed - but my ears have enjoyed listening to Imogen Church.

Good book. Enjoyed reading

Did not finish this book, which is very unlike me. Even if I don't particularly like a book I still try and stick it out to the end, but I just couldn't with this one! So very slow and boring. I seen from other reviews it picks up in the second half but I just couldn't wait around. Life is too short to read books you don't love!

I'm kind of between a so-so and a pan on this one... the main character was weak, a dishrag, but maybe that's what Watson intended. If so, well done. I anticipated some of the twists and turns which was disappointing, but at the conclusion I admit to being surprised. Overall, this book made me feel dirty. When I was finished reading, I felt like doing good things and bonding with my kids and anything just to get that taste out of my mouth.

I really liked this book. I thought the protagonist's behaviors were pretty predictable as a big part of the story included an affair, but I don't mean that in a bad way. The ending had a nice twist and left me thinking. Really good narration too. 🎧

I almost didn't finish this one. I had trouble feeling anything but complete annoyance at the main character.

My week has involved going thru all my books and scanning unread titles into a book database called Libib. When I'm done I'll do same for unread eBooks & audios and I'll have my entire TBR list in one place, searchable by tags and available on my mobile devices & PC. I hope I survive the process. Also culling as I go.

I so wanted to sink into this book. And I tried so many times over the past couple of weeks, but I never got to that unputdownable stage. Finally, I just gave it a go this weekend and it was a big ole "Meh" with a whole lotta "why-didn't-she-just-" moments. Now I need a new mystery to satisfy the craving!

I really liked the ending, because it was kind of refreshing not having to read the typical "the-good-guys-win-and-everybody-is-happy"-ending. That being said, I didn't really like the rest of the book, mostly because I thought the protagonist was extremly annoying...

Going to bed with Second Life.

This is the kind of book that makes me want to throw it across the room. Not only did the big reveal seem completely out of left field, but the ending wasn't even an ending! I don't need everything tied up in a neat bow, but don't end it like a "choose your own adventure" chapter!
