I really liked this. It gripped me from the start and it had some great twists. The main male characters were VILE though!

I've heard such great reviews on this book so I can't wait to read it and see if it really is up to the hype! 🥰
Book advent number 11! ✨️
Only one more to go.. 😞
Word for Day 18 of #ScarathlonDailyPrompts was Orange.
Book that just ‘ok‘ until the ending which kicked it up a notch for me.

Interesting story with a gratifying yet disturbing ending. Had some slow parts but really enjoyed overall. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Alison really doesn't come across as a very sympathetic MC, but as the plot unfolded, I suspected some issues were manipulated behind the scenes & without saying too much, I was v. suspicious of a particular character as they seemed almost 'incel-ish' at times. It was an intriguing debut novel that deals with difficult issues.
3.5🌟
TW: There's quite a bit of sexual content mainly rough sex, & several mentions of sexual assault, & suicide.
Book 20 2021- The consensus from our whole book club was that this is a terrible read. Poorly written, tenuous story line and extremely unlikable characters. Not everyone needs to feel some sort of connection that makes them care about a character but for me it‘s a deal breaker. It felt like a poor mans girl on the train ⭐️
It‘s my little boys settling on session at preschool today and I haven‘t gone very far 😂 sitting in the carpark trying to get this book finished for book club on Friday. I‘ve got to say so far I‘m not thrilled with it... there needs to be at least one likable character for me to feel invested in a story usually and this has none!
We have started a new book club in my village and i‘m excited. This is our first book. I bought a second hand copy (because I sometimes like to underline for book clubs) but then panicked when I saw the predicted arrival date. So I put a hold i. At the library, which came in today... guess what was waiting for me when I got back from the library! 🤦🏻♀️
While the book was good, and held my interest...I struggled a bit...I hated EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER in it! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Don‘t know what to make of this yet 8 chapters in. Started it on Tuesday on my break at work. Had this year for wanted to save it for holiday read on plane but obviously not been able to go so started it.
"He did go too far. He‘d make all the decisions for us. For me. And I didn‘t mind. It was a relief to have someone take over. I loved him so much, I just wanted him to be happy. And I wasn‘t always good at making him happy. I fucked up a lot."

Happy Spring! I love everything @Helen19 thank you so much. My son is already colouring bookmarks and playing with the dinosaurs. The bag is so adorable and I can‘t wait to read these books! #litsylovesspringswap

Hello Santa! Thank you so much for my Christmas goodies- the slipper socks are in use already, can‘t wait to dig into the maple-roast nuts (😋), and the book sounds intriguing and twisty - I haven‘t heard of it before.
I‘m 93% certain this is my #ElfSwap ❤️🧚🏻♂️ @Avanders - thank you for organising it!

I read this book for book club and found it to be quite enjoyable. I think the first person narrative could have had fewer 'I saids' when it was perfectly obvious who was speaking. Other than that it was a pretty good story, well told. I really liked the parallel story running though it and the detail - even down to the cut on the face- but I think the end let it down bit. Worth a read. Thank you.
Overall a nice quick read. I had many theories and I was satisfied with the ending 💜 4 stars ⭐️/5
Blood Orange was a interesting read what I thought the main story was gone to be about turn out to be a very small part, the book was taken up by Aileens love life and her drinking problem. I only gave this book a 3 star as I did find the descriptions and language at times just too much, it took away from the story for me.

@Hazel2019 Thanks! I got my book back today. Can‘t wait to read the other book you have enclosed! You definitely know what type of books I love to read! Thanks again!
@EH2018 Erika, Thanks so much for the feather bookmark which was enclosed in my book. It is just the right size to slip easily into a book and quite pretty!
I have enjoyed reading with all of you and hope we can pair up again soon! Thanks!
Interesting book with some truly unlikable characters. Sorry I‘m a bit late. Going in the mail tomorrow!!! #lmpbc
Fast-paced domestic violence psychological thriller disturbingly hard to put down because you need to know what is happening. The main character is a terrible person and mother. The book is intriguing and builds from the beginning to the end. Many twists keep you guessing. End is surprising. Explicit sex is overdone & not necessary. Writing so-so. Very good plot. Powerful & thought-provoking read. Enjoy reading with postal book club. Recommended.
Just got my #lmpbc book in! Thanks @EadieB

I thought this book had a gripping story line. I liked it because it was dark and the main character was allowed to be flawed in the way that men in high-powered, stressful jobs often are, but the hypocrisy of judgment for her being a woman was well drawn up.
I got through the first 3/4 of this book very quickly but then I lost interest. I feel like I didn‘t really know any of the characters apart from Allison so wasn‘t that invested in what happened.

Starting my book in order to mail it at the end of the July. Have you started yours?
Tyce's debut novel is not something I would normally pick up, but I fancied a change.
The story was fairly predictable, and the characters unlikable, however something kept me reading. I finished this in just a couple sittings, so I can't fault the writing style even if I didn't necessarily enjoy the story.
If you are on the fence about reading this, and it's your type of story it's probably worth a look.
I think I‘m kinda done with these sorts of thrillers for a while now. They all feel very samey and predictable. I always rattle through them, more to find out if I‘m right than because I care. They‘re about as satisfying as a rice cake!!! 🙄
3.5/5
Blood Orange is a domestic thriller with all the intrigue, build-up and twists you‘d expect from this type of book. The novel is well written and plausible with plenty to get your teeth stuck into, especially towards the end where the pace picks up. There is a fair amount of legal detail in the book and at times it did feel a little sluggish reading through these parts but they did give the storyline credibility.
Half way through this book & I can't seem to put it down!! Loving every page 💕
(It's my first time posting on this app so I have no idea what I'm doing 😂🙈)
Amazing! Loved it. Had anyone read it? Currently on amazon's top list and I definitely deserves uts place there!
Pure brilliance. On the surface Alison has everything a family money and a good career. But it‘s what lurks under that. Harriet tyce has created a very real character in Alison she is not perfect by any stretch but who is. The subject matter is powerful and shows how easy gaslighting and emotional abuse happens. There is almost three stories in one a very powerful thought provoking gritty read
Tiptoeing through the TBR. Just finished Red Moon which sadly got shoved to the side when everything went to hell in a hand basket.
This one is off to a rollicking start though.
Reviews say this book has unlikeable characters, disturbing qualities, so-so writing. I agree with all of this...yet I couldn‘t stop reading. I did not at all predict the turn of events so I really enjoyed the surprises it gave me. The main character is a terrible person and worse judge of character so be prepared to be put off by her and everyone else, but it definitely kept me reading, wondering where the story was going.
Really fast psychological thriller. There was nothing here I didn‘t predict, but the story kept me reading. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book kept my interest but wow, the characters were all very unlikeable, and can a group of people really have so many things messed up in their lives? Alison is a lawyer who takes on a murder case, but when she‘s not working, she drinks too much, has an affair and is not the best mother or wife. #bloodorange #harriettyce
The book draws a dark inspiration from the death of MP Steve Milligan, and the prologue especially made you want to read on and find out what will happen. However, it did disappoint in many ways; For starters, the characters were simply not likeable, and the author expects you to understand lawyer terminology even though most people don‘t. Some later chapters had pace, though many of the other chapters were slow. Had high hopes but not the best.
When you're sick, a little #bookmail always makes you feel better 😁 I'm kind of excited about this pile! I've said it before... I'm so glad I discovered @BetterWorldBooks Books for kids around the world at a crazy good price 😁
