My second Sittenfeld title. This collection had solid writing and some interesting characters in many of the disconnected stories. “Plausible Deniability” is the most interesting. A bachelor enjoys flirtatious emails with a mysterious woman. Unfortunately, for many of the stories, I didn‘t think it so I didn‘t need her to say it. ⭐️⭐️+ out of 5.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ A collection of short stories. The stories were ok…I felt as if they all ended pretty abruptly…would have enjoyed if a few stories were expanded into longer form, novella or a short novel. It was a decent palette cleanser read.

This was a nice collection of short stories. I found them interesting, and open for the reader to interpret and make their own personal connections. The connection I made is that some people we meet, and experiences we have, can impact our lives in unexpected ways.
This is my 3rd time reading this collection, and I enjoyed it more than ever! The stories are fairly straightforward with just a bit of zing. The collection builds well as each story improves on the last. (They are not connected, though.) The last story, Do-Over, completely won me over with its awkward dynamics between the characters. I really appreciated how well the aromantic character in Plausible Deniability is done.
Next on the reading pile. I need to clean the entire flat before I begin 😫
A solid story collection exploring the theme of communication between people, including how differently two people can see the same situation. I really enjoyed this and it was a pretty quick listen.
You Think It, I'll Say It by Curtis Sittenfeld is a collection of short stories chronicling and eviscerating characters navigating everyday problems of the modern era and socioeconomic status, gender, and love. She's one of my favorite contemporary writers because she has an amazing style and no qualms about critiquing reality.

I didn‘t love it the way I did Eligible (or prep) but it‘s still pretty darn good and probably my favourite short story collection I‘ve read this year so far.
#TBRTuesday
Reading down #MountTBR this week. The tagged book is a re-read for book club next Sunday!
Not sure why I picked this book up. I think it was on some kind of list.
Anyways, not bad, but I am just not that interested in the daily hardships of affluent people.
Just enjoying this short story collection so much! Hoping to finish it today.
Finished. Loved this collection. So satisfying to read a couple of stories a day at most so I could savor each one. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The book was a so-so (I‘m just not into short stories) but as always, the conversation at last night‘s #GirlyBookClub was great!

Such a unique diverse short story collection. Reading a few at a time. Such pleasure!

Another beautiful sweatshirt morning. I go back to work tomorrow & begin a new school year. Plan a short hike at Mianus Gorge Preserve today (Bedford NY). Our last family summer Day trip.
Despite being rather straightforward for short stories, I enjoyed this collection. The title story, The Prairie Wife, and Plausible Deniability (which reminded me of myself) were among my favorites. The narrators are good, as with most of Reese‘s book club picks.
Overall, I‘d recommend this collection to readers who aren‘t short story lovers and those who are. Pretty universal. 4⭐️
Penny and I just finished one set of short stories for a book club and on to the next!
This is a collection of short stories. Although some were incredibly interesting, on a whole it was mostly a so-so pick for me.
I generally don‘t like short stories. Over halfway through this collection is growing on me.
I think this is a case of "it's not you, it's me." I have a really hard time getting into short story collections in general, but thought I'd give this a try because I love Curtis Sittenfeld's novels. The first few stories were fine, but i just don't feel invested enough to continue. And when it starts to feel like assigning yourself homework to read it, it's time to bail and let someone else check out the library loan ?
I'm not a huge fan of short stories. Some were cute enough. Some really turned me off. Not my cup of tea, but I'm glad I tried.
I‘ve really come to like Curtis. This is my favorite kind of short story collection, one that puts just enough twists on everyday life to make it fun. Definitely recommend! 4⭐️
This was not my cup of tea. I listened to the audiobook and found my mind wandering, forgetting what was going on and not caring enough to go back and find out.
Guess I don't like all of Reese's picks after all.
I've been bad about posting for #litsywalkers but good about getting out in between rain showers and walking. Haven't missed a day!
I started the tagged audiobook and am enjoying some stories and not others. I'll go a little further in before making a judgement.
This came to me at the perfect time and I really enjoyed it collectively.
This is the book That Kind of Mother wishes it was. Still very much about privileged white people, but at least things happen to the moms (and others) in these stories. I found them engaging and challenging in all the right ways. The theme seemed to be: how do we live in the present with the long shadow cast by our past? Is there any connection between what we experienced earlier—say, in high school and college—to who we are now? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Devoured this. Don't typically like short stories but author does an excellent job creating unique voices for each character. (Audio)
Great set of short stories- easy to read with each one being unique. I especially liked “The Prairie Wife” and “Vox Clamantos In Deserto”.
My Reese‘s book club obsession continues. I do not usually read short stories, but glad I picked this one up. My faveourite ones were ‘The World Has Many Butterflies‘ and ‘Vox Clamantis in Deserto‘.
Someone recently mentioned this was their favorite read this year, so I borrowed it from the library. It was a great collection! I still don‘t prefer short stories to novels, but I enjoyed reading these. My favorites were Off the Record, Bad Latch, and Plausible Deniability. But honestly, they were all pretty good!
I loved all but one of these short stories! I particularly loved “the prairie wife”
I love all Curtis Sittenfeld writes and this did not disappoint. Stories of mid-western women primarily my age group (mid-30s-early 40s), dealing with expectations around babies, parenting, career choices, romance, and trump. My favorite was the one of the woman looking back at her time at Dartmouth. Took me straight back to college. Many stories felt so real I forgot it was fiction. #booked2018 #publishedin2018 #airplaneread
#OctoberStats #BestOfOctober #OctoberWrapUp
This month I‘ve read 11 books. That‘s an average amount for me.
I‘ve not read many spooky reads, just the ones needed for #Pop18 and #Booked2018, because I don‘t like them very much and because I can read them year round as October is not considered an especially spooky month where I live.
These five were my favourites with the tagged book as my October number 1.
Loving this #thought-provoking book of short stories. About a quarter of the way in, could easily be a 5*...

Loved these short stories, mostly about relationships or people thinking about past lovers or modern marriages on the brink. I like the way Sittenfeld makes me think about the way I relate to other people. Also, the title story was a knockout.
(Repost, I accidentally deleted my original post)
This is collection of perfect short stories of women in their thirties, living in the Midwest in this Trump era. They are smart, they are a bit strange, they think about gender and politics. They are so real and I was sorry for each story to end. Highly recommended!
Today #AllThatIWant is a fresh new read, a cuppa and a sugar-sweet treat made by my little darlings.

Curtis Sittenfeld‘s short story, Gender Studies, may be perfect reading for #BarbieGirl issues
What a great read! This may be my first book of short stories and I absolutely loved it. The last three stories weren‘t my favorite, but I really enjoyed the others. Highly recommend for a fast and enjoyable read!
I loved this collection of short stories. So very relatable and entertaining. I‘m going to have to read other works by this author! ♥️ also, the #audiobook was nicely done.
Ps. This is one of our new work shirts! Aren‘t they rad??
I‘m a bit more than halfway into this collection of short stories (which I don‘t always enjoy) and I‘m loving it!! The #audiobook is excellent.
