Slippery Slope
Slippery Slope | Lemony Snicket
Like bad smells, uninvited weekend guests or very old eggs, there are some things that ought to be avoided. Snicket's saga about the charming, intelligent, and grossly unlucky Baudelaire orphans continues to alarm its distressed and suspicious fans the world over. The 10th book in this outrageous publishing effort features more than the usual dose of distressing details, such as snow gnats, an organised troupe of youngsters, an evil villain with a dastardly plan, a secret headquarters and some dangerous antics you should not try at home. With the weather turning colder, this is one chilling book you would be better off without. Ages 10+

Finished reading this to my daughter; tomorrow we watch the Netflix show. This one even I‘m looking forward to seeing. I love the we get Sunny‘s point of view.

#bfcr2 I got in so many steps while reading this! #fitwizards I exceeded my step goal, checked off one book, came up short on sleep. Tomorrow is another day.

wanderinglynn Great job! 🙌🏻 5mo
Clwojick I loved these books when I was younger. I haven‘t seen too much of the show, but the first episode made me laugh. 5mo

I was so mad when I first read this and the survivor turned out to be Quigley Quagmire. Like, there‘s no reason it would have been one of the parents with so many fires to choose from. But still, So Mad.

khooliha The phrase So Many Fires to Choose From is the whole series. That's it. 10mo

Mehso-so

Due to it being a children's book the language is a little basic for me but the dark element of fires, kidnapping and murder are both shocking for its genre and appealing to me.

Attention german speaking Littens! I‘ve decided to complete my Series of Unfortunate Events. I have books 1-9 and want to buy the last ones. Apparently that‘s not as easy as I thought, I can only find them for absurd prices(50-200€ per book...) so in case one of you stumbles across one at a flea market please buy it for me- I will pay you back for sure! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

ju.ca.no @julesG ja um den Preis hab ich sie auch gefunden, das find ich leider zu teuer... 😔 1y
julesG Verstehe ich vollkommen und verstehe gleichzeitig nicht, wie die so teuer sein können. Trotz Sammlerwert. 1y

June was a good month! I feel like I'm finally back on track after a couple of slow months. I even made progress on three different reading challenges 😃 I also decided to start keeping a reading journal. This is my first entry. I forgot to include format, number of pages, genre, etc. so I'll have to do another page. #JuneWrapup #ReadingResolutions #June2018Stats

My first thoughts for #BookishMountain were Mount Thunder (Kiril Threndor) & Melenkurion Skyweir from the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, but then I thought about my current read (tagged), which takes place in the mountains... which led to me thinking about my growing #TBRMountain...which led to me cobbling together this image that tries to incorporate all of my jumbled thoughts re: bookish mountains. #ReadingResolutions

Hooray! I finished 1 book for #deweys24hourreadathon! Does it still count if it‘s after midnight? Celebrating with a bowl of cookie dough. 🍾🍪🎊🎉

That was a fun one and now I don‘t have to wait a year to find out what happens next. The plot is really taking an interesting turn and there‘s less redundancy. I‘ll read the next one soon, which I actually still own!

Adding a book to my #readathon day. My husband and I just finished the next season of the Netflix Series of Unfortunate Events, and they left off at the same exact cliffhanger that I left off on when I read the series like 15 years ago and never finished. Slippery Slope hadn‘t been published yet, and I was in college, so life gets in the way! My anxiousness has been renewed, so THE TIME HAS COME. #deweys24hourreadathon

Jprglisa I need to finish the Netflix series. I can‘t remember where I left off with the books! 2y

Took a two hour, three-ish mile walk along the Schuylkill River today in Philly listening to the incomparable Tim Curry narrate this Snicket book. Now enjoying a beer at Crime & Punishment before heading to a beer garden atop the Free Library of Philadelphia. Good start to my use-it-or-lose-it staycation!

This novel introduced the Baudelaire children to new characters who shape their lives, their decisions, and their moral values. Each child is presented at an important point a choice that could determine not only how they will face the obstacle, but also the kind of lives they want to live. Will they be corrupt? Will they remain innocent? They come into many morally gray areas and I feel that it's something that needs to be addressed in ya novels.

Pre-emptively reviewing this because I am almost done with the audiobook - this book. This book! In this episode of the Baudelaire orphan's lives, we see that the children have grown in several ways since their Bad Beginning. We get to see them use their skills to get themselves out of sticky situations and finally learn what VFD stands for! Can't wait for the next installment! (Will edit if last 20min change my opinion) 📚🗻

I don't know why I stopped reading ASOUE, but I've resumed the series (starting from Carnivorous Carnival) and I love it more than ever. Sunny POV, and Sunny making her own decisions, makes me squee. Sunny POV is a phrase which here means "Lemony POV focused on Sunny."
