For @tpixie some very quick (& not great!) 😆 pics of the illustrations, endpapers & cover page of this Puffin edition. I think they are the same inside illustrations as my long ago childhood copy & the illustrator is listed as Cecil Leslie. The end pages are cute.
This is a cute quote: ‘At the moment when our story closes‘
The book on the left just has the first half of the story, whereas my Kindle and the book in the right contain both the first and second book of Heidi.
It is very interesting how different the translations are!!
(Why did the library put the code bar over the title???)
This was another fun read for #ChildrensClassicRead2024 Thanks @TheBookHippie

Finished last night & read with #ChildrensClassicRead2024
I hadn‘t read (or been read to) Heidi since I was a small child or seen the movie in eons so it was fun to go back to the Alps with Heidi. She is adorable but I forgot how much of a little butt head Peter was! Lots of charm, sweet & fun. Who doesn‘t love an alpine field with flowers & goats?!? Just mean old Miss Rottenmeier I guess!!💛🐐🌱🐐🌼🏔️
#HyggeHourReadathon
Tonight‘s #HyggeHour is taking place on my couch, my “Mood is Chill” playlist. Finishing up some weekend journaling & then hopefully finishing up Heidi for #ChildrensClassucBuddyRead & of course, I needed some Cadbury Mini Eggs as the season is almost over. 💛
Mood is chill, trying to be positive about a busy & challenging work week.
#HyggeHourReadathon
Tonight‘s #HyggeHour is being spent on my couch with Heidi for #ChildrensClassicRead2024 along with some dessert Cadbury rainbow mini eggs. 😋
My mood is mellow and sad the weekend is over & it‘s back to work tomorrow. Hopefully my work week is a bit less busy than last week. 🙏🏼
I‘m reading the e-book, but there‘s no photographs. These are the library books I checked out.
The top Viking Press edition has very interesting historic information in the margins along with illustrations.
The bottom Julian Messner New York edition has some black-and-white illustrations throughout with a few colored as well. ( I thought Heidi had blind hair!)
#ChildrensClassicRead2024
For some reason, I cannot access the illustrations on my e-book. I went to my library and checked out a couple books. The illustrations in this The Whole Story Edition are really neat because they have historical information as well!
#ChildrensClassicRead2024 #March
My second time reading Heidi as an adult and I still enjoy it. I like the descriptions of the beautiful landscapes, the idyllic life on the Alps, and the themes of family, friendship, and kindness. A gentle and comfort read.

I read from Gutenberg but found this pretty edition on Pinterest.
I‘m just starting this book & am reading the introduction. I‘m reading the free Kindle version, and I think the intro about the translator is interesting. I love the way he values childrens‘ intelligence!
#ChildrensClassicRead2024 #March
My childhood copy of Heidi. The Book cover & illustrations (color plates & black & white drawings) by William Sharpe, evoke a long ago, enchanting world of the Swiss mountains. #childrensclassicread2024 #March
I just pulled out my copy of Heidi for the March #ChildrensClassicRead2024 and found this. I didn‘t realize I had my mother‘s childhood copy! 🥹 A gift for her 10th birthday from her lifelong friend Alison.

Everyone meet Heidi. Our new cat she is 7 and a love. We don‘t even have to change her name as it is already a literary character name.

I'm starting off strong with this classic, first published in 1880. It gives me Anne of Green Gables vibes. A delightful, young girl is sent to live with her grandfather, who is a lovable curmudgeon.
After reading this I want to go visit the Alps! #MiddleGradeMarch @megnews
Such a sweet story 🥰 my fav book from #LetterH #Alphabetgame
Have you seen Luis Velez is my another fav book.

Used to watch the show as a kid, so happy to relive those days again ❤️

A classic story that stands the test of time (if you do not overthink the practicalities of a wealthy invalid girl living in the alps with only an old man and a child). Beatrix was very emotional when Heidi was tricked into leaving Grandfather and concerned she may never return. Heidi‘s homesickness and deteriorating health are heartbreaking. Clara‘s journey to the mountains and recuperation pleased her greatly.
This book filled #translatedbookpublishedbefore1945 for #readingwomenchallenge and #publicdomain for #booked2019. My daughter loved the Netflix series based on this book a few years ago but I‘d never read the whole story. Absolutely charming characters and a sweet, happy story about the power of kindness and forgiveness. Loved it.
I escaped for an hour!
And I have a sudden urge to reread Heidi. Not sure why.
😍😍
