The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe: The Official Illustrated Movie Companion | C. S. Lewis, Perry Moore
32 posts | 75 read | 1 reading | 2 to read
The ultimate visual companion and keepsake to the making of the stunning fantasy film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe based on the beloved children's classic by C.S. Lewis. C.S. Lewis wrote the classic children's series over 50 years ago, and the amazing land of Narnia is finally coming to the big screen. This beautiful book captures the creative energy behind this film and offers the official inside story on how the magic was made. Includes selections from the script, still shots from the film, photos of the production, an introduction and stories throughout from the producer, Perry Moore, reflections and anecdotes from cast and crew, and much more. By going beyond the usual soundbites which make up traditional 'Making Of' books, this insider's account allows for the real personality of the project and its people to shine through its pages.

It‘s been awhile since I‘ve read anything. So I decided to visit the world of Narnia. What a great adventure! I absolutely love the classic fantasy books!

Edmunds turn to enter Narnia where we meet the white witch for the first time.

“ I say, Lu! I‘m sorry I didn‘t believe you. I see now you were right all along. Do come out. Make it Pax”

Was there any one else who had to Google what pax meant 😅

Just in case It‘s Latin word meaning peace 🥰

#narniareadalong

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I had to Google it, too! I am tickled to now know why an IKEA wardrobe is named Pax. 3y
Powered_By_Plants @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick 😂 that‘s exactly what sprang to mind when I read it . Maybe its because it creates peace in your bedroom with all the extra storage 😁 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick That makes perfect sense. I love it! 3y
Powered_By_Plants @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I think Marie kondo would also agree 😁 3y

“This must be a simply enormous wardrobe!” Thought Lucy , going still further in and pushing the soft folds of coats aside to make room for her. Then she noticed something was crunching under her feet.

And so it begins 🤩 🦁

Having never read the books I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it jumps straight into the story . Not sure why but I was expecting long chapters 😄

#narniareadalong

CaffeineAndCandy This is my first time reading them as well. I was wondering why she didn't go and get her siblings when she found the wardrobe led to another world 3y
i.besteph Awesome! I‘m starting the series for the bookspin in March! I heard there are some really short chapters 😁 3y
Powered_By_Plants @CaffeineAndCandy definitely, it would be your immediate reaction. @I.be.Stef Ahh fab! I‘m looking forward to it too especially the stories in the series I‘m not familiar with 😍 3y
i.besteph @Powered_By_Plants absolutely! The movies are everything. I hope they did the books justice 😁😅 3y

An epic battle - good versus evil. All you have to do is walk through a wardrobe and you‘re in Narnia! Read all the books! Even my one stuffed animal horse is named Eustace 😊

Still have to see the third movie and there is talks of a fourth...

We have a ginormous grocery store in my city that has just a ridiculous amount of options for food. I was wandering though their "Around the World" section and spotted this in a bottom corner. ?

F: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is a great book to introduce to grades 4 and 5. It follows the adventures of four siblings as they discover a passageway to a whole new world that expands beyond their wildest dreams. In this new world they face hardships, create new friendships, and they discovered new strengths and qualities within themselves. It would be perfect choice for an independent reading assignment. #UCFLAE3414SP18

You know when you're supposed to be cooking dinner but instead you spend like an hour geeking out on articles from Lewis scholars about whether you should read Narnia in their original release order or their chronological order - yeah...

diovival This was me when I was deciding how I should tackle Star Trek. 7y
mcipher Ohhhh, now I need to go read this. I just bought the series in one big fat paperback to take to my parents' cabin in Maine and I didn't think to check the order they're in!! 7y
SaraFair Let us know what you determine! 7y
See All 17 Comments
bitterbear Well? 7y
SaraFair @diovival- where did you start? I have never tackled them because of that. 7y
Clare-Dragonfly I like to alternate on subsequent rereads 😁 But I agree with that article's author—publication order is better for your first time! Nephew is so much better when you've read TLTWTW first. 7y
Clare-Dragonfly Also, if you really want to be strict about chronological order, you have to stop during the last chapter of TLTWTW and read Horse and His Boy. I have done this, but don't recommend it! 7y
diovival @SaraFair I started with Enterprise and now watching my way through TOS. Going chronological and going solo. The fiance couldn't make it through even the first couple episodes of TOS. 😂 7y
lamaman2boys I can't deal with the new chronological order business. But as a kid I only re-read TLTWTW, Prince Caspian, Dawn Treader & Silver Chair (with the occasional Last Battle), never the other two! (edited) 7y
aubergine123 I think you have to read TLTWTW first. You should experience Narnia with Lucy the first time without knowing what it is. Far more magical that way. I'm forcing my daughters to read it in that order. 7y
LauraBeth @diovival 😂😂 7y
LauraBeth @mcipher that'll be some good vacation reading! 7y
LauraBeth @SaraFair and @bitterbear I decided to go with release date - mainly because I ❤️ TLTWATW so much that I wanted to read it first 7y
LauraBeth @Clare-Dragonfly I agree with this as well 😀 7y
LauraBeth @lamaman2boys I'm not down with the chronological order either 7y
Clare-Dragonfly @aubergine123 That's a perfect way to explain why it's better! 7y

Mehso-so

A quick read , but glad to have finally read this one (was really about time). Overall, I think the story suffers because Lewis kept it short and simple. More complexity would have been awesome, but also put it out of reach for his target audience. Still, have to appreciate an academic with an imagination! Also, if you've never used Hoopla, highly recommend it for audiobooks. Quick download to your smartphone.

kdwinchester Really? Just so-so?? 8y

tpixie 💗💗💗💗. This moved me as a child. Sorry it didn't you. Maybe because you read it as an adult? 7y
samwinchester90 @tpixie I really do think that's what happened. Plus, fantasy novels now have such detailed world building and this mainly focuses on the characters, not the world. 7y

Got this as an audio book for my daughter on a road trip. Made her follow along with the actual text too. Not an audio fan but it's been surprisingly enjoyable in the car for everyone.

I expected it to be more childish than it was,but it wasn't childish at all. I actually quite enjoyed it! a short, and very quick read but just because it was short doesn't mean I loved it any less! If you haven't read this book yet you should! No matter what age you are!
