I took some time out this morning to listen to THE KINGDOM OF COPPER and decorate my planner for July. The book‘s great—dark and stressful—and I love the succulent stickers I used for my birthday week. #audioplanning

Clean the kitchen, work on the blanket (crochet), do some repotting, read, and figure out the best way for my daughter to record her proofs for her finals since the school is now closed and no public library has a whiteboard that we can use for free.
#SpringSkies Day 17: Saying that this book has #MagicalElement would be an understatement. Finished reading it late last night and now starting on book #3. I am so glad I went back to this series especially since I abandoned book 1 last year. This one is much better, I think. Paired it with umm ali, a traditional Egyptian dessert I feel Nahri would love.
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ 🌟 (4.5/5)
I'm doing the audiobooks for this series. And whoa. What a ride. Politics, plotting, magic, intrigue. I can't get enough of this series. I immediately started Empire of Gold, because it's just so intense. I have a funny feeling that this series will break my heart.
1. I have no plans this week!!! Books and cats are the only things on the agenda. I'm going to embrace the JOMO (joy of missing out). 😉
2. I don't keep organized. 😂 But I try really hard. 😅
3. I'd be in Daevabad right now (currently listening to The Kingdom of Copper). Which actually sounds better than work today - even with political intrigue and firey weapons. 😨 It's already been a day.
4✨ I was almost done with this when I got to class today. During the students break I finished it. Man what an adventure. It continues right where the first book left off and it leaves you on a cliffhanger in the end. I have to say I liked this book better than the first. I don‘t want to say too much, but people we thought were dead aren‘t, and a lot of people are lost in the end of this. #SeriesLove @Andrew65 @TheSpineView
Today was a busy, but productive reading day! I finished the physical read, caught up my serial reads, and listened to quite a bit of my first audiobook! I‘m going to add some new goals in finishing another physical read: Sweet Valley High #8, and Alls Fair in Love, War, and High School. Plus maybe a total of 3 audiobooks. 😊 #JoysofJune @Andrew65
Yepp, I ploughed through the second book in one day. And it ended it yet another cliffhanger.

Great second book of the trilogy. More djinns and afreets and whatrever else!
A fantastic continuation to The City of Brass. I loved this book even more than the first. I was surprised to find that five years had passed since the events of the first book and the sequel and at first was a little saddened by this, but it actually worked so well for the plot. I really enjoyed how far the main characters had come in five years and learning what they had been doing.
Even better than the first book!
✨Go steal some happiness for yourself, my friend. The chance doesn‘t always come back.✨
When you truly feel like Alice in Wonderland: reading this at a bar in Bangkok, while you listen to your talented friends play music.🤌🏼✨✨✨
Reading this in conjunction with moving back to Bangkok has given me some really trippy dreams.😅
A time skip has happened as Nahri has settled into her new life, and actually finds she enjoys many aspects of it. Tensions which flared at the end of the first book have mellowed, but all the politics are still there. If you enjoyed book one, keep going. The expansion of the world beyond Daevabad, Nahri's growth, & new characters with their own plans makes this a great sequel.
Consider listening to it, the narrator is fantastic.
I really enjoyed the second in this series. I read the first a while ago and had to do a cliff-notes read to remember. Great writing and story telling, I can‘t wait to see how it ends. 4🌟
I haven‘t been able to read not one book during January because I caught Covid (how I caught it is still a mystery) and, being immunocompromised, my butt was kicked. I still have symptoms but at least the brain fog lifted, so I‘m trying to get back into the rhythm with the Daevabad trilogy. I‘m reading book 2, The Kingdom of Copper.
This one was a bit slow in the middle but wow, what an ending. This one is fantasy but has some scenes in Egypt so it would work for #FoodAndLit and #ReadingAfrica
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This series, the author‘s homage to the medieval Islamic world, is incredible. I loved this second part of the series & can‘t wait to see where book 3 takes us.
So much happened & changed & surprised in this one it‘s impossible for me to really review it without giving too much away. The multiple points of view added a lot to this one, and it was expertly constructed. Very, very good.

I finished this second book in the Daevabad trilogy on audiobook. Great use of Middle Eastern folklore in the world-building!
5 points for #TeamSlaughter plus readathon points (17.5 hours).

So glad the pool is open again, even if all I do is sit next to the water and read.
This was an audio read for me and I‘ve decided to check out a physical copy for book 3. I couldn‘t follow along well enough listening to it. There‘s much political posturing in this book and I find I don‘t like the character of Nahri or Ali at the moment. Maybe it‘s the audio but they act like spoiled children. The premise is still amazing and I do like the story perhaps not audio though.
After two Bridgertons and a memoir, I'm moving on to book two of The Daevabad Trilogy.
So glad I finally finished this. I was savoring it, but I got to a point where I just needed to finish. I wish I had the next book already, but alas I‘ll need to wait at least a week to get it from the library.
This sequel was so good! It definitely didn‘t suffer from second story syndrome. I‘m definitely interested to see what how this journey is going to end.
#20in4
I was unable to settle with my previous read, but it‘s basically just because I really wanted to read this book. I was trying to wait until February, but just couldn‘t.
I‘m a little less than halfway through this one, but I‘m loving it!
Snugging in the basement with the electric fire place on ☃️🐶📚
I love this series. I don‘t have much experience with the traditional Middle Eastern folklore, but the glossary/description pages at the beginning and the end do a good job of explaining the pertinent language. The story is both entertaining and engaging. I can‘t wait to read the last book of the trilogy.
Just finished binge-reading this one. I loved how Chakraborty was able to weave together each of the different storylines beautifully and seamlessly. I am also excited to read book 3 to see what happens after that ending! Honestly, Chakraborty has become an author to watch for me and I highly recommend reading her books.

Three wonderful purple covered books from my 2020 reads. They are so different than each other, but I enjoyed them all.
Long, Long, Long Read...
Starting a bit annoying but then towards the end it became better.

🍁 I'm loving all the fall colors creeping into our neighborhood. I love it when the trees turn orange, gold, and red.
🍁 I'm thankful for my family here at home. They are sweet and love to read too.
🍁 I loved my last read! It's about a powerful djinn healer still learning her powers in a magical, treacherous kingdom.
Thanks for the tag, @Hazel2019 😊
That bingo is getting closer! Day off meant binge reading! Finished the last few chapters and omg! This book didn‘t go the way I expected and again OMG! I loved the suspense and the characters and how we still are like wait who is the bad guy again? 😅 Loving this series sooo much! #bookspinbingo
Now I‘m off to read more!!
I flew through this one. Her writing is amazing. A good mix of character development and story progression without a lot of filler. I can't wait to start the third one.
It hurts.
It just hurts.
Never been so happy to have the next book loaded and ready to go
#bookspingbingo @TheAromaofBooks
I was so engrossed in this I read it in one day. I love the characters and this world so much that I just couldn't stop reading and find out what happens next. I'm so glad the third book is already out so I can pick it up tomorrow.
#BuriedAliveChallenge
Decided to do some reading on the front porch before it gets too hot today. I‘m enjoying being back in this world again.
Flew through this one and will immediately purchase next book as library wait is just too long. This series is definitely the best fantasy series I‘ve read in a long time.
I‘ve been in a reading slump lately, and this book was hard to get into at first because all of my favorite characters were scattered. But things started coming together and I never found myself glazing over, which often happens when i‘m in a slump. Great sequel to an even better first book. I‘m looking forward to getting the third in this trilogy!
I've been trying more lately to appreciate the little things, like having the privilege of time and attention to get lost in a good fantasy series or to get excited about a new baby leaf on one of my plants 🌱
This book is the second in the series and while it did have some poorly paced slow sections, when the action and POVs all came together it was so gripping! I love these characters and can't wait to see how their story ends in book three.
Warning: self-indulgent whining to follow...My ankle still hurts and I‘m exhausted from being stressed out about making sure my bookstore makes it through these weird times (trial by fire becoming a co-owner of a small business this year). All I want to do today is lay in this hammock and read.
Loved the mythology in this one as much as the first! Great complex characters and shifting story of vengeance.
I adored this book. The writing is incredible. The characters are all complex and interesting. The settings are immaculate.
So much happens but it‘s easy to grasp and nothing happens how I expected it to. Talk about being on the edge of my seat to see what‘s going to happen next!
With one book left in the trilogy (next month!!!), I can already say this series is a new top five favorite. I love everything about these books. I repeat: I love them.
Just finished a re-read of City of Brass and Kingdom of Copper. Picking up the final book in the series this weekend!! 🤗🤗🤗
Finally done with this book after... 26 (!!!!) days. I can‘t remember the last time it took me so long to read something. War and Peace, probably. 😅 it‘s not the book, it‘s definitely me and everything going on. While it was kind of a slow first half (again, could have been me), it picked up.
Anyone else finding it REALLY hard to focus on reading? I wish I could lose myself in a book more than anything.
Really strong follow-up to City of Brass... I love this world and the characters, the writing is strong, and the action and political intrigue don‘t let up. I didn‘t quite love it as much as the first book, and I think that‘s likely due to not enough Dara/Nahri togetherness. ❤️
Very much looking forward to the third book in June!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just finished The City of Brass and it was better than I remembered! Can‘t wait for The Empire of Gold in June.

This one was long, too long. It didn‘t hold my attention as much as the first in the series. But overall it was ok.
