This was a silly little story about a father who explains to his children why he was so late coming home with the milk, getting waylaid by aliens, pirates, dinosaurs, volcanoes, and more. Super fun listen read by Gaiman

This was such a fun read. I think my kids would have loved it in their younger days and it‘s one I would have loved to use as a read aloud!
Downloaded and ready to ring in 2024 with this book!
I have no chill right now. It‘s impossible to overstate how important Fortunately, the Milk is to me. It‘s by my fav Neil Gaiman—a great read aloud, & a fabulous celebration of imagination & storytelling. It‘s how I discovered Skottie Young, his art & his comics, & then the wider world of comics. Last week, for the first time, Skottie sold some of his original art for the book & I was fortunate enough to get a page. I absolutely love it. ❤️❤️❤️
Gaiman said he wanted to write a book where the dad is fabulous after the way he portrayed the father in The Graveyard Book.
This was a great read. Super quick. I loved the story the father told to turn a grocery run for milk into an adventure.

If the same object from two different times touches itself, one of two things will happen. Either the Universe will cease to exist. Or three remarkable dwarfs will dance through the streets with flowerpots on their heads.
PICK!
I gave my wife the choice between this or Willodeen to read with our 9-year-old and she scooped this one up. So, before I make a library run tomorrow to return ‘em both, I had to read this for myself.
Super goofy, fun story about a dad who goes through a lot of trouble to get his daughters some milk for breakfast — I can definitely relate. 😅
The illustrations are pretty cool too!
This was a quick read and a really cute story for kids, about a dad going out for milk and having to deal with aliens, pirates, angry gods, time travel, and vampires, to get back to his kids with the milk for breakfast. Cute illustrations, too.

The kids and I just finished reading this together, after starting it only a week ago. It was very silly and we all had fun with it. The kids liked the Wumpires best! #raisingreaders
This was a delightful little listen whilst puttering about the yard. It was on the available list on Libby, so I gave it a go. I‘m always a sucker for Neil Gaiman reading his own work.
A fun book to read aloud with your kids. Dad goes out for a bottle of milk and takes a long time coming back. When he does return, he has an unbelievable story to explain why he was gone so long. Lots of fun with great illustrations as well! ❤️
I don‘t know how anyone cannot love Neil Gaiman! This is such a cute kids book but very enjoyable for adults as well imo. And you can‘t go wrong with artwork by Skottie Young! 5⭐️

It has been so long since I've chatted with you all. I am throwing myself into some Neil Gaiman stories and thought this would be a good day to get back to chatting books with other bibliophiles!
I read this one, Coraline, and Swapped My Father for Two Goldfish with my son!
Gaiman‘s fantastic worlds are a delight on audio and he‘s an expert interpreter of his own work. These two audio narration are #outstanding among the few I‘ve listened.

This was such a fun book to read! Had a few good laughs! Loved the dad and Prof Steg and her special names for her hot air balloon and coconuts! 😂😂 a great getaway for me after some heavy reads recently 😅
Thank you, @Soubhiville for the gift! 🥰💕

Delightfully fun 💚💙💜
I'm ashamed at how long it's taken me to finally read this wonderful Neil Gaiman book that's excellent for both kids and adults. The whimsical words and imagery will keep you entertained until the end, and fortunately, the milk....
Well, you'll just have to read it yourself to see what happens with the milk. 😉
Y‘all this book was so cute and fun. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I‘d recommend it for all ages and as a fun on to read to your kids!
“I think that there should have been some nice wumpires,” said my sister, wistfully. “Nice, handsome, misunderstood wumpires.”
“There were not,” said my father.
This book is so funny y‘all.
“We have spoons. Spoons are excellent. Sort of like forks, only not as stabby.” I am already giggling about the writing.
Taking a break from books for adults to read a fun kids novel by Gaiman. I‘m quite excited I have it on good authority (recommended by children) that this books is a lot of fun!
Fortunately I just bought milk although I could do with a bit of adventure.
This is a fun quick read filled with a lot of good illustrations.
A human father sets out to buy milk for his children's cereal, but took too long to return. This story explains his wild journey to get back the milk for breakfast.
Fun, short read on a stormy day ☔

Finishing my April #bookspin book ✔️
A fun story with great illustrations. I loved the kids‘ interjections and how the story adjusts to incorporate them. Great!

Super fun quick read. Handing it off to my kiddo who hopefully will enjoy it as much as I do. :)
Just got this book in the mail, both my son and I read it a while back and loved it as I love everything I've ever read by Neil Gaiman. We had to have out own copy so finally ordered it.
This book was delightful. I had picked it up at the library sale. I am going to reread it with my daughter. She will love it!
I had no idea until I got this from the library that it‘s illustrated by Skottie Young of I Hate Fairyland. The drawings are wonderful, and remind me of some of Roald Dahl‘s illustrations.
This is a great Middle Grade story, told by a Dad in explanation of why it took him so long to go out and buy milk. You never know what sorts of trouble can befall you when you run to the corner store!
A father went out to buy some milk and a whole lot of weird stuff happen that caused his delay...fortunately the milk saves the day. Gaiman, with his wit and imagination pulled off such a fun story. It‘s bonkers and funny. I got this when my kid was 7 years old and she loved it. Riddell‘s illustrations bring the book to life and the father in the story resembles the author!

Reading this adorable Neil Gaiman story in honor of his upcoming birthday, which is on the 10th! 😁💕📚
Completed another audio book by Mr. Gaiman himself, I so enjoy how he reads his own stories. This was such a fun story, it‘s an hour long and it full of funny, silly, and wacky imagination that a child would love. Very adorable story.
A #DayInTheLife of the dad in this story (drawn as Gaiman himself in this edition) is one zany, silly, dream like trip to get some milk for his kids.

It‘s been a quiet few days for me on Litsy because we‘ve been at C2E2, Chicago‘s version of Comic Con. Super fun & the highlight every year is seeing Skottie Young. I first came across his work in Gaiman‘s Fortunately, The Milk. From there...I Hate Fairyland, Bully Wars, Deadpool, & Middlewest. (And the wider, very cool world of comics generally.) Got a lot of comics signed & even came home with an original sketch (a self portrait) this year. 😍
A dad runs out to buy milk for his children‘s breakfast and gets caught up with pirates and aliens in a very silly adventure. Honestly, not my favorite by Gaiman, but I did enjoy listening to him read it.
Neil Gaiman is my absolutely favorite writer and narrator. This is such a fantastical, creative, entertaining experience. A must read for kids of all ages. ❤
I decided to listen to another kid's chapter book while I #audioclean in preparation for the little one. This was a fun, little, one-hour romp from one wild scenario to the next. Great for kids or adults! And it all starts when the dad goes down to the corner store for some milk...
Any kid would be lucky to have a dad like the one in or the one writing the story. 😜 Silly fun including a time-traveling professor dinosaur, pirates, and aliens.
