Hairpin Bridge | Taylor Adams
From the author of the "full-throttle thriller" (A. J. Finn) No Exit--a riveting new psychological page-turner featuring a fierce and unforgettable heroine. Three months ago, Lena Nguyen's estranged twin sister, Cambry, drove to a remote bridge sixty miles outside of Missoula, Montana, and jumped two hundred feet to her death. At least, that is the official police version. But Lena isn't buying it. Now she's come to that very bridge, driving her dead twin's car and armed with a cassette recorder, determined to find out what really happened by interviewing the highway patrolman who allegedly discovered her sister's body. Corporal Raymond Raycevic has agreed to meet Lena at the scene. He is sympathetic, forthright, and professional. But his story doesn't seem to add up. For one thing, he stopped Cambry for speeding a full hour before she supposedly leapt to her death. Then there are the sixteen attempted 911 calls from her cell phone, made in what was unfortunately a dead zone. But perhaps most troubling of all, the state trooper is referred to by name in Cambry's final enigmatic text to her sister: Please Forgive Me. I couldn't live with it. Hopefully you can, Officer Raycevic. Lena will do anything to uncover the truth. But as her twin's final hours come into focus, Lena's search turns into a harrowing, tooth-and-nail fight for her own survival--one that will test everything she thought she knew about her sister and herself...

4✨ I did not really want to put this down. It was interesting from the start. Even though I had predictions it didn‘t completely pan out how I thought it would. I wouldn‘t say it was a happy ending because from the beginning we know her sister is not going to come back. While I enjoyed the story. I struggled with the timeline. Lena told one story, the police officer gave another perspective, and when we went into the past #FableBR

I picked this up because I liked No Exit. This was just ok- too long and too violent. The violent conflict just kept going and going.

Of the 3 Taylor Adams books I‘ve read, I think this one is his weakest, and I‘m disappointed that I didn‘t like this one as much as the others. The multiple POVs were disjointed and the action scenes were unrealistic and repetitive. It was definitely very intense and thrilling and had some entertainment value, but ultimately it wasn‘t my cup of tea. 2/5⭐️

Lena‘s twin sister commits suicide off an abandoned bridge but things just don‘t add up from the official police reports. Lena goes on a quest to find the real truth to only find herself in danger. This book started out strong but then just fizzled out for me. I felt like the whole explanation of the story was just way dragged out. I started skimming in spots just to get to the resolution. Multiple perspectives also cause some confusion. Blah

The writing style, which flipped between the perspectives of multiple characters as well as a blog post, was confusing. This is another story with unlikeable characters. We‘re supposed to be rooting for Lena, but I personally didn‘t care what happened to her. I just wanted to know the truth of how her sister died. The plot is outlandish and disjointed and implausible and it honestly got worse the more I read. TW:child death #thriller #mystery

I thought this book was pretty good. It's not getting the best reviews but I'm not entirely sure why. It's a quick read, staying very eventful throughout. There's a few good twists and turns that I didn't see coming, even up until the very end. Definitely a bit gory but nothing too difficult to read. I enjoyed No Exit and this book so I'll definitely read more by this author in the future.

121 of 2021. I was looking forward to reading this book after reading No Exit and loving it. This book didn‘t disappoint. Lena‘s twin Cambry committed suicide a few months ago. Not convinced her sister took her own life, she decides to return to the place Cambry died and meet with the cop who found her to determine what happened to her sister. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Adams was trying to recreate the fast-paced suspense of No Exit, but didn‘t quite do it. A lot of the elements are the same: a young female protagonist, a small cast of characters, a secluded setting and plenty of action. While I found many parts of No Exit far-fetched, I could overlook the flaws because it was so adrenaline inducing. In Hairpin Bridge not only were scenes far-fetched, but they were repetitive, long-winded, and boring. ⬇️

Overall Rating 4¼⭐ | Narration 😁=Very Good
This was just what I needed since lately, I can‘t get into much. Right now, I need thrilling and suspenseful; and this delivered. While I had a few reservations regarding the characters‘ motivations, I recommend this, especially in Audio.

If you‘ve seen reviews for this you might have noticed how a lot of readers say the different time jumps are confusing, they happen often and quickly sometimes. ⬇ ⬇

AudiobookingWithLeah In the Audiobook they did something interesting with the narration. Despite having the two timelines from the one characters‘ POV, they had two separate/distinct narrators, one for each of the two timelines. So I always knew which timeline I was in. Which admittedly was weird; what with two different voices for one character, but I got used to it quickly. 3y

Wow.. I was dramatically disappointed by this book. I LOVED No Exit and have been anxiously waiting the past 4 years for a next book and I was very underwhelmed. I was severely let down. There was many plots holes, he gave away the twist before it would happen. None of the subtle hints were subtle at all. And the lay out to confuse the reader I thought was badly written. I hate that I have to give this book a 2 star review ):

Yeah, this kind of sucked. Taylor's "Hairpin Bridge" does not live up to his debut " No Exit". The two bisecting stories between Lena and Camby works against the story for me. I mean on the one hand, I found Lena's standoff with Raycevic interesting but on the other hand, Cambry's confrontation with him was boring as hell. In the end, I was done with all of the characters and ready for them all to die.

If you're going into this book thinking 'No Exit', then I think you will be disappointed. One of my least favorite themes in thrillers is 'random citizen solves case before trained detectives' so that knocked this one down for me. Quick read with a lot of action. It was a good book but nowhere near as good as No Exit. I had been warned there was offensive racial/ethnic content in this book. I found nothing offensive but I also realize I am white🔽

FelinesAndFelonies And have no right to determine what is racist or offensive to anyone else. It started pretty slow & ended up a 3.5 ⭐⭐⭐💫 read for me. Rounded up to 4. 3y

Lena decides to investigate her twin sister's death. It was ruled a suicide after being found underneath Hairpin Bridge. She meets with the officer in charge of the investigation. What follows is a tale of crazy circumstances. Is Lena denying reality or is there something more sinister going on? I adored this book!!! There are so many twists and turns and the author doesn't allow you to take anything or anyone at face value!! Thanks #Netgalley

HAIRPIN BRIDGE by Taylor Adams
This is a real, true, page turning, heart stopping, heart pounding, book. One that could easily be a tv series. If you took each case and made a weekly show about that one it would fill your night with enough to last a while. This book is about two sisters but there is so much more involved.

This one is one of the most emotional rollercoasters ever! Lena seeks revenge for her twin sister Cambry, but no one could've predicted this journey. There were so many twists I swear I have whiplash. This one was a little bit darker than I expected, but it lended itself to the story. Adams' is a true master of suspense. Definitely recommend. Out Jun 15, 2021.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️

Lena‘s twin sister Cambry dies by jumping off Hairpin Bridge, also known as suicide bridge. Her death is ruled as a suicide. Lena doesn‘t believe her sister‘s death was a suicide and that she was actually murdered. Lena drives to Montana and confronts the cop who found Crambry.
This book takes over the span of a few hours. Not much really happens. The action was mediocre. I loved No Exit, but found this to not be as great. #botm

If I had not just finished No Exit, I would have appreciated this one more, but it‘s still quite the ride!

Lena‘s twin sister, Cambry, supposedly committed suicide by jumping of Hairpin Bridge, but Lena knows there is more to the story.

Corporal Raycevic meets Lena to discuss the details surrounding Cambry‘s jump, and Lena will stop at NOTHING to uncover the full truth.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
