Ivy, Mateo, & Cal ditch school, but they‘re not the only ones. They follow their classmate, only to find him dead. They spend the rest of the day uncovering clues as to who murdered him.
This one was a good pallet cleanser. It was a quick read. I liked that it all occurred in one day & there was some romance. I just didn‘t like the additional ending, & I wished there was more diversity in characters.
These are really easy to get through. Second I‘ve read and finish in a couple of days
vy, Mateo and Cal used to be two best friends but their interests changes overtime of their friendship. They all run into each other after having a bad day. They decide to skip class and go into the city just like they use too. They find a fellow student at their school and follow them.
Found this one on Libby. I needed a new #AudioCommute / #AudioClean book, so this one is the one I picked. It's pretty good so far :)
I love hearing/reading stories from multiple perspectives. Ivy, Cal, and Mateo rekindle their middle school friendship only to become wrapped up in the murder of a classmate. They are witnesses turned suspects, and no one is safe. Another homerun by McManus!

Three former friends who've drifted apart over the years are thrown back together when they decide to skip school together. They stumble into a crime scene, where one of their classmates is dead.
This one was between a pick and so-so for me, but I gave it a pick because it started out well. I just don't think it was as well-written as her others, and the ending felt rushed, weak, and fairly unbelievable.

4✨Another great read from Karen M. McManus! Three teens, that were past friends, decide to skip school. Their reconnection adventure goes really wrong when they stumble upon a dead peer. As the main mystery unfolds so to personal ones between them. My only complaint would be the sudden unfinished ending where a problem character may cause more issues for the three teens. #Scarathon #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick Word search total 189! Total pts 1,905

I've continued to read all of McManus' YA novels to date, because they are well-written, with well-developed characters, and a suspenseful plot. I enjoy them at my age, and I would have loved them as a teenager.
Yes another crazy and super exciting book by Karen McManus. I love all her books and this one is thrilling until the last page.

Hmmm…Meh🤷🏼♀️ I always have high hopes for this author but overall this one falls flat… which seems to be a common occurrence for me.
I just don‘t connect with the characters, nothing truly locked me in to the story.
It could be due to it being an audiobook?
The ending was an improvement🙃
I will keep trying her books in hopes that one will shine!
McManus is an auto-buy author for me, and this one did not disappoint! Loved it - a great YA mystery.

#pop22 - a book whose title begins with the last letter of your previous read
This was a good crime/teenager thriller with three friends who hadn't really hung out together for ages. They picked a bad day to start their friendship again. I suppose you kinda know how it ends but still enjoyed it.
I just love K. M. McManus books!
This one is also well written YA high school drama with mystery crime, full of secrets and of sinister discoveries. It is an interesting and entertaining read. 😁
And the good news that there will be one more new book by her - Nothing More to Tell! 🤘
So these will be my next reads, first the tagged book. I will start HOSAB at the weekend, it just over 800 pages so hope to make to ground over the weekend. #tbr
There's no denying that parts of this were suspenseful, but I couldn't help comparing this to her other books…..and it kind of underwhelmed. I was more interested in the dynamics of the friendship than in the mystery, and even that didn't make me feel vested enough to stay glued to the pages like she usually keeps me, which is a shame because I wanted to love this one so badly! Entertaining, but definitely not her strongest. Soft pick.
Another McManus in the books. I really hope there is a sequel or an extended epilogue after that cliffhanger 👀 I liked the addition of the Carlton speaks YouTube channel though 😂 And believe that I am finding some sugar babies later today. 😉
Not my favorite by this author, but still a good YA mystery/suspense! That cliffhanger ending, though! When is the sequel coming out?! 😫 #audiobook #Audible
I'm a sucker for some YA mystery/suspense type of books. I have yet to read The Cousins and You'll Be the Death of Me but enjoyed reading the others. I find them so quick to get through but also keep me on the edge of my seat and trying to guess what the fuck is going to happen next 😂

This was actually more of a pan for me, but giving it a bump because I normally love this author's stuff. The mystery and story was interesting, but honestly I hated all the characters except for one. Everyone felt so "juvenile", and I found myself literally rolling my eyes as we learned more about everyone's individual motivations. Not McManus best!
Bk22 & last of December, 2021 & #WinterGames2021 and Bk2 of #NewYearSpecial #20in4 #readathon is done!🥳🎉Scraped in by the seat of my pants, I may have had 3 pages left at midnight though🤫Another quick YA crime/thriller from McManus. A different school & kids but she has a knack for making it very readable. Highly recommend. #MerryBookmas #AVeryMerryReadathon #WinterCosy #WrapItUpReadathon #SeasonsOfReading #MistletoeManiacs 1,711pts👇
I did not guess the killer. The ending took me totally by surprise and I felt like I should have gotten it afterwards. I liked these characters. This was a fun ride.
Karen M. McManus remains my go-to author for quick, YA thrillers. This one wasn‘t quite as exciting as some of her others, but still enjoyable enough. 3⭐️
3¼⭐
The narration was quite excellent…the story was only okay.
It had all the makings of a Karen McManus book, great characters, a fun retelling of sorts, and a murderous mystery…but it was missing something. It just didn‘t grab me, it was so trivial for the first three-quarters and the last quarter, which was good, just wasn‘t enough to carry the book as a whole.
