The Renaissance Faire is on the move, and Lulu and Dex are along for the ride, in the next utterly charming rom-com from Jen DeLuca. A high-powered attorney from a success-oriented family, Louisa Lulu Malone lives to work, and everything seems to be going right, until the day she realizes it's all wrong. Lulu's cousin Mitch introduced her to the world of Renaissance Faires, and when she spies one at a time just when she needs an escape, she leaps into the welcoming environment of turkey legs, taverns, and tarot readers. The only drawback? Dex MacLean: a guitarist with a killer smile, the Casanova of the Faire... and her traveling companion for the summer. Dex has never had to work for much in his life, and why should he? Touring with his brothers as The Dueling Kilts is going great, and he always finds a woman at every Faire. But when Lulu proves indifferent to his many plaid charms and a shake-up threatens the fate of the band, Dex must confront something he never has before: his future. Forced to spend days and nights together on the road, Lulu's interest in the kilted bad boy grows as he shows her a side of himself no one else has seen. The stresses of her old lifestyle fade away as she learns to trust her intuition and follow her heart instead of her head. But when her time on the road is over, will Lulu go with her gut, or are she and Dex destined for separate paths?

I wished for more emotion and character depth. Things were just too convenient for the plot. I will forever love the first book in this series.

I love this series so much!! This book was an incredible addition! It has everything from steamy scenes to laugh out loud moments while still teaching you to embrace the changes the future holds for you. Absolutely loved this one!

4/5

Another super fun book in this series. When work finally pushes Lulu to her limit, she quits and throws her phone into a tub full of water. Clearly in need of a break, she joins friends on her cousin, the Dueling Kilts, on their Ren Faire tour for a few weeks.

This was a little more focused on Lulu's journey than on the romance with Dex, and I wish we'd gotten more about Dex's journey and growth, but it was still a fun read within the series

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It is always fun getting back to DeLuca‘s Renaissance Faire settings!
This one did take me a while to get into, and as with all the others in this series, I wish DeLuca would include the other character‘s POV. This one especially would have benefited from that.
Even with the slow start & lack of multiple POVs, by the end, I loved this one, so still 4 stars from me! And I look forward to the next one.

My phone rang for the fourth time that morning before I was through the gates of the Renaissance Faire.

This is the 4th book in the fun, romantic series set at Ren Faires. I still like the 1st best, followed by the 3rd. The MCs are Lulu, a lawyer, & Dex, the musician who usually sleeps around the Ren Faire circuit. Not that much depth or tension in this one, & the conflict that keeps them apart was not that difficult to fix. Had some interesting info about Tarot cards. 3-ish⭐️

So good! I loved this series following found family and friends that move in and around the Renaissance faire circuit. The nods to Shakespeare are delightful and the characters sweet and salty. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

I read all but 18 pages yesterday; I just didn‘t want to put it down for anything! I love this series, and this is my second favorite. I worried it would rehash Mitch‘s story, but it didn‘t. Dex‘s transition from Ren Faire Lothario to credible romantic lead worked so well. This is also one of the most believable conflicts I‘ve ever found in a romance. Loved it all. #52Books #epilogue or #aboutsiblings

LaraReads Ohhh, this looks good! 💜 1y
ravenlee I do recommend reading the first two, if not all three, for characters. This one can be read alone, but I think knowing about the Ren Faire world from the first one, and Stacey and Daniel‘s story that introduces Dex and the Dueling Kilts makes it better. Also I just love the series! 1y
Librarybelle I need to read this series! 1y

Dealing with the public…yeah. Peopling is exhausting.

I‘m enjoying this visit to the Ren Faire MUCH more than what I was reading yesterday.

#4 and still so cute. Older protagonists this time which was refreshing. Themes of swapping careers in storylines just hit differently at 37 than 27. I still want to visit a Renaissance Faire... It's on my bucket list because of this series. 🍗🍗🍗 LuLu's Grandma is pretty great too 🤣

LiteraryinLawrence I read the first one (and liked it) but didn‘t read the next 2. Do you think it‘s important to read them all in order or is it a series where you can dip in and out? 1y
MaggieCarr @LiteraryinLawrence you could definitely dip in and out, sub characters simply wouldn't have back stories but it doesn't affect the storyline at all. 1y
ravenlee @LiteraryinLawrence it might help to read the second one before this one, just because Stacey is an important character in #4 and her story also introduces the Dueling Kilts. Not necessary but helpful. 1y

First completed book of 2023, chosen because otherwise it would be my first overdue library book of 2023 😂 If you've enjoyed the other books in the series, you'll probably like this one, too. There were a lot of things I liked about this couple and liked about them together. However, I always find DeLuca's books to be slightly sexist against men - her characters always are complaining about how men objectify women etc while going on about how ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) hot men are in kilts and that kind of thing. The hypocrisy grates on me. I also found it a little pretentious that DeLuca dedicated this book to herself, but hey, whatever works, I guess 😆

Still a fun little romp of a read and a nice fluffy way to start the new year's reading.

I always feel like I'm really accomplishing stuff in January, when every book checks off so many prompts for so many challenges!! Out of control!!

I‘m giving this a very marginal pick. This is the fourth book in this author‘s Ren Faire rom-coms. This time a busy lawyers bails life for the Faire and finds friendship and love along the way. The friend portion of her journey is much more successful than the romance. I never really believe the hero was all that great. 3.25⭐️
First book finished for 2023!

I took advantage of the Barnes & Noble post- Christmas sales. What can I say? I had a few gift cards that were burning a hole in my pocket! 😁

Hopefully I'll read these sooner than later and they won't appear on my August 2027 BookSpin list!

thewallflower0707 If you like Steve Martin you have to watch Only Murders in the Building, with Martin Short & Selena Gomez. It‘s very entertaining. 1y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @thewallflower0707 YES! I admit I was slow to get into it, but it's won me over and is so good. 1y

I love how expansive this series has gotten! Lulu and Dex were made for each other, and the way their story developed was fresh AND fun AND sexy AND emotional, just as I like it. #romcom #contemporaryromance

Am I a sucker for Jen DeLuca‘s Willow Creek series? I am. Was I thrilled to get an ARC of the newest one? I was. This book follows Lulu, a lawyer who goes off the grid and quits her job, tagging along with kilt wearing musicians (if you‘ve read the series, they‘re from book 2). Enter Dex: a guitarist with a reputation. Sparks fly. I liked this one and felt like Lulu‘s journey was really relatable. Pick it up if you love RennFaires!

Get me to a Ren Fair stat! No one has made a stronger PSA for the sexiness of renaissance faires and their patrons than Jen DeLuca. I have loved every book in this series, but I think We‘ll Traveled is my favorite. Lulu and Dex are so great together; they‘re both confident, have realistic expectations and most importantly, respect each other. They‘re also just a whole hell of a lot of fun to read.
