Morr_Books I appreciate this chapter solely because it allowed me to catch up on the reading. 😆 1y

dabbe @Morr_Books 🤣🤣🤣 I never was so excited to see such a short chapter! 🤩 1y
Bklover Yawn 🥱. See you tomorrow!😆 1y
willaful I didn't want to stop -- next chapter looks very exciting! 1y
TheAromaofBooks I have found it so interesting that these random short “nothing really happened“ chapters have been scattered throughout! Such an intriguing writing method. 1y

Bookwormjillk It must be exhausting being some of these people the way they spend all day judging 1y
BarkingMadRead @Bookwormjillk seriously though! 1y

TheAromaofBooks I snickered over the description of Charlotte purposefully going out in the bad weather, but staying in during the nice weather - I have definitely met people like that, who do things the absolute hardest, worst way so they can spend all their time complaining about their difficulties! 1y
mcctrish #toomuchbeetoven so Lucy is going for a walk instead of the circular tram cuz it‘s safer 🙄 1y
Morr_Books @TheAromaofBooks & @mcctrish - Yessss! Loved all the commentary in this chapter, but yikes in regards to "They must find their level." 1y
Ruthiella Love Mr. Beebe. ❤️ 1y
Clare-Dragonfly These people all seem to know what they‘re talking about, but I can‘t figure it out! 😂 And I looked up what the chambermaid says to Beebe—it appears to translate as “it‘s okay, I‘m old.” 🤣 1y
TheAromaofBooks @Clare-Dragonfly - At least that's better than “it's okay, YOU'RE old“ 😂 1y
Clare-Dragonfly @TheAromaofBooks That‘s what I thought it was at first—and yes, you‘re right! 😂 1y
Bklover I can‘t quite picture Lucy playing the piano. I picture her pounding away with enthusiasm playing some very sad piece of music. I do like Beebe, but the rest of them- insecure snobs! Now I shall go “find my level”🙄🙄 1y
julieclair I am having trouble understanding this new friendship between Charlotte and Miss Lavish 1y
julieclair And I'm wondering if the "landslide ate my novel" story is true. 1y
BarkingMadRead @julieclair it seems so extreme! And to forget every word you wrote? 🙄 1y
dabbe @BarkingMadRead At least the novel didn't blow into the wind and the sexy housekeeper had to jump into the “lake“ to retrieve it! #channelingloveactually 1y
Allylu I‘m not getting the posts. Maybe I slipped off the list because I just read posts and didn‘t comment last time? Would you please add me back on? I enjoy your #hashtags so much! 1y
BarkingMadRead @Allylu you never have to comment…. Except when I ask if you want in on the next book! I‘ll add you! 1y
Allylu Thanks! 1y
Clare-Dragonfly @julieclair I was wondering if she‘d left it on a train… but she hasn‘t ended up with a baby by mistake 😂😂😂 1y
julieclair @Clare-Dragonfly 🤣🤣👶 1y
TheBookHippie I must say … gossips abound and also gads what snobs reminds me a bit of our Excellent Women read! 1y
rubyslippersreads I must have forgotten to request a tag. Can you please add me? Thanks. 1y

1. I want to read the tagged book someday, but my mystery book club only wants to read cozies in December. Not that there‘s anything wrong with that!

2. I have no idea! Maybe some ear buds?

Shanghai Girls | Lisa See
post image

Day 3 of #20series20days is this page-turning duology from #LisaSee about two sisters forced to leave their comfortable life in Shanghai for a different life in the US on the eve of WWII. Each book stands alone, but I think they work best if you jump right into book two after book one. Without spoiling, I think when you finish book one you will WANT to jump right into book two! #Top20series #AugustAuthors #seewhatididthere

EadieB I lover her Snow Flower and the Secret Fan but haven't read any other books by her. Need to rectify that! 4y

Nute I think that Lisa See is a very talented writer. 4y
DivineDiana The funny thing is that I read this, not knowing there was a Book 2 until the end. Then, I check Goodreads, and I had read Book 2 years ago, not realizing that there was a Book 1! 🙄🤣🤷🏼‍♀️ 3y

My goal for the #joysofjune #readathon is to finish seven books and get caught up with my Goodreads goal. It might not happen but it‘s worth a shot!

I love the flowers in this picture, especially the yellow #rose in the bottom corner. #boundtogetherjune #seewhatididthere

OriginalCyn620 I‘m doing this readathon too! 5y

1. My wfriend moved back to town in 2012 after having lived elsewhere for many years. We‘ve gotten to reconnect and do lots of fun things together.
2. I plan to read 84 books (maybe more if I can retire as planned?) and keep a reading journal.
3. For many years it involved going out for chili with some friends, but that hasn‘t panned out recently.

I was supposed to get together with my friend for a round of putt putt this afternoon. BUT ... she‘s sick, and also it‘s raining. So instead I‘m running some much-needed errands for the first time since getting back from vacation. Anyway, the rain is good for the #greengreengrassofhome to stay that way as long as possible. #litsyneighborhood #wanderingjune #seewhatididthere

1. I first read POTS in the early 90s I think, along with Kindred. I can‘t remember which I read first.
2. I‘ll be reading this on Kindle “soon” but I need some “help” to get it. At least I‘m first in line, and this way I should have it the whole rest of the month.
3. Back in the day I took a couple education classes and learned about the author and was intrigued. ⬇️

Susanita I started rereading in 2016 for a Read Harder task, but then 2016 happened. 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I can see how this would have been too much while we were reeling from the election. Might be too dark still, but I think we have to face the facts. 7y
