So, after the #SundayFunday question I got to thinking about #Clarissa again and I made a thing. 😂 Then I looked into printing it onto t-shirts. It would be around $14-$25 depending on quantity and sizes/colors, etc. And I can't figure out how to get it to not have a white background, but give me a minute and maybe I can figure that out? Anybody interested?

Lcsmcat I‘m in! 2w
TheBookHippie Oh I‘m so in 2w
LeahBergen 😂😂 This would make a cute tote bag! 2w

Amiable @LeahBergen OMG, yes! Perfect book bag! I‘m obsessed with tote bags. 😄 2w
Amiable @BarbaraJean I think “Clarissa” should have quote marks around it because it‘s a book title if it‘s not italicized …(said the anal editor 😬) (edited) 2w
Daisey This is fantastic! I might be interested depending on specific details. @jewright Have you seen this? 2w
BarbaraJean @Amiable I appreciate the proper formatting!! I played with the fonts a bit more and got an option that lets me italicize the title 😁 @LeahBergen I love the tote bag/book bag idea! I found a cute tote bag option through Vista Print that's about $14 each, plus shipping costs: https://www.vistaprint.com/clothing-bags/bags/totes/large-tote-bag-with-23-handl... Hmm...

Well, I HAVE to chime in on this one because I need to get all the mileage I can in proclaiming that I finished #Clarissa. 😆 All 950,000+ words of it. I used to brag about having read War & Peace, Don Quixote, and Anna Karenina… then I read Les Mis and Count of Monte Cristo and added them to the brag list, but Clarissa eclipses them all… in length but not enjoyment. 😂 Where are my other Learned Slatterns? Today is our day! #sundayfunday

Amiable I KNOW, RIGHT?? 😄 3w
TheBookHippie Right?!?!?!?! Oy 3w
Amiable @BarbaraJean The only downside is that I have to explain what “Clarissa” is to brag about it because most people haven‘t heard of it. 😬🙁😳 But “W&P” always gets oohs and aahs. Even though that one was way easier to read! 3w

LeahBergen Right?? It was brutal! 😂😂 3w
TheBookHippie @Amiable and get a long stare after you explain it… 3w
Daisey So true! I also agree with @Amiable as well that it doesn‘t get the same reaction from most people as saying you‘ve read War & Peace or some of the other well know classics. 3w
BookmarkTavern Yeah I had never heard of this one until @Amiable mentioned it! That is truly brag worthy! Thanks for sharing! 2w

It used to be “War & Peace” or “Les Miserables” (I don‘t remember which one is longer!) — until the #Clarissa Crew took down this monster (all 1,781 pages/ 943,000 words of it). It‘s considered the longest novel ever written in English. I will never not brag — and complain — about finishing this one. 😄

@BookmarkTavern

MemoirsForMe Wow! 😳 Way to go! 🎉 3w
BarbaraJean Yessssss. Congrats, again and always, to a fellow Learned Slattern. 3w
TheBookHippie OMG I still can‘t believe we did it!! 3w

BarbaraJean @TheBookHippie This has me again wanting to print us all “Learned Slattern” t-shirts. 3w
TheBookHippie @BarbaraJean 🎉🤣👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 3w
Amiable @BarbaraJean @TheBookHippie I‘d be on board with the t-shirts! It would be a nice companion to my “Nasty Woman” shirt. 😀 3w
LeahBergen I‘m still recovering 😂😂😂 3w
BookmarkTavern I had never even heard of this book! That is truly impressive! Thanks for sharing! 2w
Amiable @BookmarkTavern I think there are a number of us who wish we‘d never heard of it, too! 😄 2w
CoverToCoverGirl I stumbled on this one😬 I admire those persevered and made it through. 2w

#ThreeListThursday #TLT @dabbe
Well, this one oughta be fun! I'm such a sucker for book lists. 🤣
1. Survey link: https://www.listchallenges.com/1001-books-you-must-read-before-you-die-1700s
2. Share your score if you'd like.
3. Share your 3 favorites from the list or 3 that you might be interested in reading, or 3 you thought were horrible or a combo of whatever you'd like.
4. Tag a few!
Tagging Littens who played last week. 🤩

Librarybelle I got 16, but there are so many I‘m in the middle of but did not count because I did not finish them. Some I‘ve not heard of before and others are on my to read list. 😂 4w
BarkingMadRead 27 for me (I counted two that I‘m currently reading) 4w
lil1inblue Uh oh. This era does not bode well for me... 😂 4w

BooksandCoffee4Me Oh, 22 only! Jane Austen saved me on this one. So many I‘d not heard of but look interesting! Remembered how much I loved Woman in White. Thanks for the tag @dabbe 💛 4w
CSeydel Just 11. Not bad for a STEM major, though, right? … right?? 4w
CSeydel Probably another 11 on my TBR. But most of them I hadn‘t heard of 😔 4w
Amor4Libros I got 1…Moby Dick! 🤣🤣 4w
dabbe @Librarybelle 🎯🩵🎯 Most from the 1700s, I'm like 😳! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @BarkingMadRead Thank goodness for the #hashtagbrigade! We were able to count quite a few! (and I included MILL ON THE FLOSS since we will be finished soon). Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @lil1inblue 🎯🩵🎯! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @BooksandCoffee4Me #ditto! I adored WOMAN IN WHITE! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @CSeydel R.I.G.H.T.! 🤣😍🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @CSeydel 🎯🩵🎯! 4w
dabbe @Amor4Libros And I only read “Call me Ishmael“ and called it a day! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
SaunteringVaguelyDownwards Got 22, which is not too bad for a Lit major focusing on contemporary texts! 4w
dabbe @SaunteringVaguelyDownwards I think you'll kick some serious ass as we move forward in years! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing! 🩵📚🩵 4w
willaful Only 20 for me! Would be a bit higher if I had participated in *all* the #HashtagBrigade reads. ;-) Nothing I especially want to read but certainly might if the brigade does them. :-) 4w
peaKnit I know face slaps are not allowed but @dabbe…I got 4 😂 thank gosh for Jane Austen. 4w
shortsarahrose I got 12, which is honestly better than I expected (thanks mostly to actually liking 19th century American lit - Melville, Hawthorne, Poe). Sorrows of Young Werther should count twice cause I read it in German 😆 (surprised that with three Goethe texts on the list, Faust wasn‘t one of them! I guess maybe because it‘s technically a play?) 4w
Bklover 18- thanks to #hashtagbrigade and Jane Austen. There are quite a few I hadn‘t even heard of! 4w
TheSpineView Thanks for the tag! 🥰💛🏷 4w
Bookwormjillk Lucky 13. Grateful for#PemberLittens and #HashtagBrigade 🤣 4w
Bookwormjillk @BarkingMadRead I definitely counted Mill on the Floss. We‘re almost done! 4w
Read4life Thanks for the tag!! 💙📚💙 4w
ChaoticMissAdventures Oh! It is too bad they couldn't find a few more 😂 thanks for the tag! 4w
Deblovestoread Thanks for the tag! I‘m going to get my book out before I do the survey as my memory was much better back then. 4w
Daisey @tpixie I went through and have read 39 (including currently reading Mill on the Floss). I‘ll have to watch for these the next few weeks. 4w
dabbe @willaful The #hashtagbrigade saved my sorry ass! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @peaKnit I think the only one I read from the 1700s was GULLIVER'S TRAVELS. The others I was like 😳. 🤣 We'll get better as the list moves forward a few years!
Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵
4w
dabbe @shortsarahrose Yep, I think plays don't count, though they should. And you should count it twice! I read COUNT OF MONTE CHRISTO in French, and I counted it twice. I needed all the help I could get! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @Bklover IKR? 1700s was like 😳!!! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @TheSpineView YW! 😍 4w
dabbe @Bookwormjillk IKR? Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @Bookwormjillk I did, too! 🤣 4w
dabbe @Read4life YW! 😍 4w
dabbe @Deblovestoread You have this book? How cool is that? I'm thinking of getting it! 😍 4w
dabbe @Daisey You beat my sorry butt! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
AnnCrystal Thank You For The Tag 📚😉👍🏼💝. (edited) 4w
dabbe @AnnCrystal YW! 😍 4w
Lesliereadsalot Thanks for the tag but I can barely remember what I had for lunch let alone books from my far past! 🩷 4w
AnnCrystal Whispering again...👀...Zero!

I did watch many as movies, but it's been years.

1 - Carmilla. Long Time TBR book (I'm horrible, still need to read Dracula too).

Movies

2- North and South I saw one version of this many years ago and fell in love with the story

3- Orson Welles In Jane Eyre 💝💝💝.

📚💝.
(edited) 4w
melissajayne 17/100 4w
rwmg 39 including 2 I DNF-ed (Clarissa and Tristam Shandy).
4w
Eggs 6 🙀🙄!!! 4w
julesG I might have read 13 books from that list. 4w
julesG @shortsarahrose I had similar thoughts about Goethe and was wondering why a few others were missing. Them being plays might be the reason. 4w
Amiable I don‘t even care about my score —the fact that I could check off “Clarissa” caused me to shout “YES!!” and pump my fist in celebration. 🎉 ☝🏼😀 4w
tpixie 12. It said the average was 18! 4w
TheLudicReader Hahahahaha. 8. 4w
dabbe @AnnCrystal I adored OW as Rochester! That's my favorite version, too. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @melissajayne Those 1700s! #oy 😳 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @rwmg You kicked my sorry butt! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @Eggs Thank goodness we're past the 1700s! I was like 😳 when I saw those books! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @julesG I was all about the “might“ on this list. 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @julesG I think you're right. 🎯 4w
dabbe @Amiable Is that like the longest book in the English language? I don't think I could even attempt--nor would I want to! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @tpixie Together we average 18.5, so we're good! 😍 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
dabbe @TheLudicReader Reading with the #hashtagbrigade and loving Austen are the only two things that gave me a few more books. 1700s? #wtf 😳 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵📚🩵 4w
Amiable @dabbe It is the longest! I couldn‘t have gotten through it without the Litsy #Clarissa crew. 4w
dabbe @Amiable I barely made it through WAR AND PEACE, so I don't know if I could even fathom reading this one! Was the writing good? 4w
tpixie @dabbe I like your math! 4w
AnnCrystal @dabbe 🤩👍🏼😍🎬💝. 4w
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Only 8 from these. I should check a few of these out. I don't remember much about A Modest Proposal other than a one line plot description, but I know I thought it was clever. Wild that we read it in school. I enjoy Edgar Allan Poe, so those two are probably the favorites. I've seen Emma on film and read a graphic novel. I'm counting that in my tally because I've decided that Austen novels just aren't for me. 4w
dabbe This was me looking through the ones from the 1700s: 😳😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵💙🩵 4w
ImperfectCJ I'm late taking this quiz, but I got 21. I want to read Candide and The Sorrows of Young Werther. I've read everything by Austen so if there'd been a few more of those, I would have gotten a higher score. :-) 3w
dabbe @ImperfectCJ 🎯 re: Austen. I have WERTHER on my TBR, too! Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💚💜 3w
dabbe @RaeLovesToRead For pretty much all of the 1700 books, I was like 😳. Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💚💜 3w

Pickpick

Such melodrama! With hints of #Clarissa, except the heroine is less good. The villain is a caricature and the hero is not particularly appealing. But it did keep me reading and there were moments of humor, so I‘ll give it a weak pick. #readyourKobo @CBee

The fact that I now understand this reference when it randomly appears in books almost makes The Year of Reading #Clarissa totally worth it.

Almost.

😀

TheBookHippie Almost….. 😅 3mo
Amiable @TheBookHippie We have to take our wins from that experience wherever and wherever we can, am I right? 😄 3mo
TheBookHippie @Amiable I have read it in a few books now and I didn‘t keep my brick of a book an English major wanted it and I gladly parted with it. 😂 3mo

I do understand! I was casually listening to my audiobook today when this line caught my attention. I had to find the passage in Serial Reader and share. I never would have caught this allusion without the experience of reading #Clarissa.

#1001books #SerialReader

Ruthiella I love it when that happens! 10mo
Daisey @Ruthiella Yes! It also sometimes makes me wonder just how many allusions I‘m missing too. 10mo
