Oh for the love of reading! This is a beautiful book, and Sybil is brilliant. I squealed when I came across her letter to Ann Patchett, and since then there have been pleasant ‘guest appearances‘.
I have read epistolary novels before but this one is more immersive than the others. Everything seems to be in sync, from the timelines to the different voices to the whys and the why nots. ✉️ 🧡

Delicious mystery! I‘m actually enjoying it more than Raven Black (Shetland #1). The characters feel more familiar (despite a few contradictions). I‘m also constantly not comparing the book with the series. I have absolutely no clue who the killer might be!!

Took a day off from work, did school drop off (first day chaos), had a hearty breakfast and hit the library. Took a cat nap before school pick up too! All this is rare and highly savoured. 💙

I wanted to read a book set in Singapore, and this was one of the books suggested by the library. I went in without reading any reviews, or looking it up on Litsy and I‘m pleasantly surprised by how much I‘m enjoying it. 🇸🇬

All three books have beautiful illustrations, and are a delight for kids and adults. The tagged reminds me of stories I grew up hearing from my parents. The festivals book reminds me of summer break projects that our school bestowed on us, and the book on Klint is insightful!

Weird bookish coincidences that I love:
Last year, on June 16, I went to pick up my library hold and I saw this book was on hold for another person with the same last name as me. The book looked interesting and I snapped a picture. Earlier this year I placed it on hold and guess when it became available? June 16, 2025!!

The weather is pleasant, work is slow, and I‘m quite enjoying this book. Hopefully I can finish it before it‘s due at the library.
My first by Brandon Sanderson. 💡

I tried not to, but I‘ll have to bail on this one (gave it 100 pages). Perhaps it‘s the timing. The plot is promising, the characters have potential but the writing feels clichéd and unnatural. It maybe unrelated (or not) but I read two pages of Ann Patchett and I can‘t stop thinking about that book now. #currentlynotreading

My family and I were planning a trip to Montreal next month. Plans changed, so now I‘m armchair travelling to Three Pines with Chief Inspector Gamache. I wouldn‘t say it‘s an amazingly gripping book. It is interesting and cozy enough for me to look forward to the second in the series. #Quebec

A delightful, fast-paced fantasy read with characters (non-magical) you would want as IRL friends. I did not know what to expect as I haven‘t read Brother Grimm‘s Goose Girl, but there‘s quite a number of heroic geese in this one!
Fantasy isn‘t my top genre, but I‘d recommend this one to start with for sure!

This is the second book I picked up by Sally Hepworth. There are a lot of similar writing patterns with The Darling Girls, but it is fast-paced and makes for excellent in-flight entertainment. ✈️📚

I read this book back in 2007. Rereading this puts a lot of things into perspective. I don‘t think I have felt so conflicted for a character lately. Achebe is an excellent storyteller. 💚

My dad passed on his love of coffee table books to me, especially the ones about food, homes, and travel. This one beautifully sums up all three.
This is on my to-buy list now! 🥙

My first book of the year.
Pros: Likeable characters, and ideal if you are looking for a light read.
Cons: Predictable, and a bit repetitive.

It is a family drama on the surface. A love story that spans decades. It is also about parental love, kindness, and forgiveness. It was overwhelmingly heartbreaking for me in parts. I would read it during work lunch, tear-up and then have to close the book. It looks deep into characters and seeks to unravel layers of the rhyme and reason as to why people are the way they are. Plot is okay, additional characters are also okay, overall 3.5 stars.

Mind: hmm, remember the book where the couple divorced, too many characters, the kids went exploring while the parents slept in the motel…I wonder which book that was…maybe I should check on Litsy…did I finish that..it‘s been a long time since I read some Atwood..she‘s coming to the city for a talk tomorrow…didn‘t get seats…

A fast-paced thriller that I breezed through. The ending was not unpredictable, but the way it was revealed made this book interesting. Also, I do tend to like books about sibling relationships.

What a beautiful way to remember your teenage years…the angst, the self-consciousness, the adventure, friends…! All of this with spot-on illustrations.
I liked the author‘s note in the end comparing childhood in the 80s to now.

Thanks to a slow week at work I managed to finish a book in four days, something I haven‘t done in a long time.

I really liked the MC, the book has so much depth. It‘s sad but also not. I really don‘t know how to describe it other than I liked it a lot. It made me reflect a lot on Strout as a writer.

I opened the first page yesterday, saw the date, and closed it so that I could start it today instead!! Bookish quirks 😅

I don‘t usually read romances but this is festive and a light read. Enjoying it so far. 🕎🎄 🌙

I read The Arctic Fury by Greer Macallister at the peak of summer so it‘s only fair that I read Prodigal Summer when it is freezing outside. 😅

Three MCs and I love all of them. This is a book to be savoured. 💚☀️
