Kitta I read Hunger last year and wow. So good but so hard to read. I‘d recommend it a lot to anyone doing the challenge, however major trigger warnings for rape, eating disorder, and fatphobia.

I just voted and I‘m so excited. This is definitely a favorite yearly challenge. I always vote for authors on my tbr list but even if they don‘t get picked for the year I have always enjoyed finding new authors I love. So even if you don‘t vote or read an #authoramonth, I recommend trying it out for a month or two and learn about new to you authors! I like Dana Stabenow, Jodi Picoult, Chris Bohjalian, CJ Box, William Kent Krueger, Ann Cleeves, Lisa Unger. Really I don‘t mind reading any authors who are chosen. 6mo

CatLass007 I live in East Tennessee. Johnson City was lucky. The same cannot be said for Elizabethton and Erwin. They found the body of the last missing Impact Plastics employee. I hate that it‘s under water and I still find it shocking to have seen on the news that 50 people had to be airlifted off the roof of the hospital. And there was a story that I think took place in the Asheville area (but don‘t quote me on that) about a family who watched their house float down the river with their cat trapped on top. About a week later 🐈 and family were reunited. It just (cont)⬇️ 6mo

CatLass007 occurred to me that God or the Universe or whatever doesn‘t send things like this as a punishment for some transgression, as some on the religious right will be sure to say. Loudly. Maybe he allows things like this to happen to show us how to work together for the common good instead of fighting for the right to be right. 6mo

Bookwormjillk @CatLass007 leave it to a cat to float away and come back. Hiking is harder now that the kids are teens with busy schedules so we mostly hike around home in Virginia. But we still usually get to Asheville or the Smokies once a year at least. 6mo

CatLass007 I‘ve listened to My Darkest Prayer and Razorblade Tears. Both were excellent. I‘d like to get to Brokedown Prophets before the end of the month. For July, I have The Complete Poppy War Trilogy in one volume. It‘s 66 hours and 29 minutes long. I don‘t know if I‘ll make it through the entire trilogy this month but it‘s not out of the question. 11mo

Jess Cosby was a win. I had read one and finished two others this month. I immediately went out and bought My Darkest Prayer for later reading. Cosby is now an auto buy. Thanks for whoever nominated him! Not sure about July. May just read

Bluebird I‘m reading an annotated version of Pride and Prejudice, nearly done. I am a bit nervous about Groff. I bailed on the Vaster Wilds at about 15%-despite it being read by one of my favorite narrators. I have Monsters of Templeton and Edible Birds on hold at the library-will see what comes up. 1y

My Favorite Authors | Thomas Costley

Preparing for #authoramonth for 2024 is proving difficult. I have very few books by these authors. Husband has most of Pratchett‘s books, so he‘s going to help me pick for December. But otherwise, I‘ll be looking for suggestions.

Other than Emma, I‘ve not read books by Jane Austen. I‘m about 1/3 into Pride and Prejudice and I‘m enjoying it very much. I‘m pleasantly surprised (& some authors not so much—Rushdie). That‘s why I love this challenge!

TEArificbooks For Tana French I liked In the Woods the first in a series. They made it into a tv show but the mixed two books into the first season so you might want to read both books before watching 1y

CBee @Texreader a lot of Littens really like Fingersmith by Waters. Anything by Cosby is bound to be amazing. The Aaron Falk series by Jane Harper is good. 1y

CBee Kuang‘s Yellowface was amazing, and my favorite by Klune is The House on the Cerulean Sea (Under the Whispering Door is also so good). 1y
