Perfectly reasonable reaction to the loss of good oatmeal cookies and you know death 😅
Perfectly reasonable reaction to the loss of good oatmeal cookies and you know death 😅
This is probably going to be a repeater for today‘s prompt, but it was literally on my desk so least effort on my part 😄 #RockyRoad #JuneSpecials
If nonfiction counts, I‘m currently about a third of the way through Hannah Gadsby‘s “memoir situation”. #SundayFunday
I haven‘t exactly been following through on #ReadOrDonate this year so I am going to let June be a mulligan and will finally make it out to my Little Free Library if I still don‘t finish these by the end of the month. Also I did not intentionally make the last 3 titles spell out WTF, but wtf 😂
June #BookSpin and #ReadYourKindle lists. I will try to post in real time this month so I don‘t utterly clog the feed with catchups.
I‘m not sure how this one ended up on my Libby holds list since it‘s not going to be on the #losersclub schedule anytime soon but instead of delivering later yet again I was like ok let‘s read her! I know this was meant to be scrapped but I loved it so much and I can‘t get the story out of my mind. I‘m catching up on the adaptations too. As you can see, it‘s very meme-able. 😅 ⬇️
April‘s #losersclub pick but read in May. It was physically exhausting getting through this one as someone who struggles with daytime drowsiness reading about how tired all these guys were. Which maybe made it a more immersive experience? 😂 I did find the 4mph rule distracting since I was listening to the audio. Holding a conversation is taxing at 3mph let alone 4 so I had to suspend disbelief in that aspect. ⬇️
Tale as old as time.
Found all of May‘s #WickedWords in the tagged book. Will be adding a review later today, as I am going to attempt to bake cookies similar to the ones mentioned in the book first because I‘m nothing if not a sucker for food mentions in books I am reading! Also no context on that last quote until Litsy creates an 18+ button similar to the spoiler button for posts because.. yeah 🌶️😅
This was my #TBRTarot Reader‘s Choice prompt for May - a book “delivered later” more than 3 times. I delivered this one later 13 times.. I originally meant to read it in January. 🙃 I love hearing him talk about food and the relatable struggle with picky eaters. Also there are some delightfully unhinged remarks about his wife which if you don‘t know his humor might be concerning to some readers. 😂
So close to getting 2 bingos it hurts. Completed this month‘s #DoubleSpin in the actual month it what chosen, so that‘s a win. ⭐️ I was expecting it to just be a joke book and the jokes are funny. I think my favorite line was “I am a Virgo. If you hadn‘t suspected that on some level, That‘s on you. Who publishes a list of insults? That‘s Virgo shit.” 😄 ⬇️
I laughed at this section probably more than I should have. 😂 Been decluttering preparing for a move that is going to be happening either in August or September so mortality has been peek-a-booing around every corner. 💀🪦🫠
April #BookSpin / #BookSpinBingo / #ReadYourKindle The tagged book was my “Big City” - (Baltimore) pick for #FictionalTraveler. I loved it. It has similar vibes to The Ex Talk and I‘m glad a took a chance on it for my BOTM box.
I read these two pretty close together so I thought this was hilarious. 💀 🌅 The tagged book was my “book that is a graphic novel / comic / memoir” for #TBRTarot It‘s a very cute book about a skeleton that desperately wants to join the town band. Unfortunately, she terrifies the town every time she tries to show off her music chops until she doesn‘t. And the puns are top tier.👌
I found 4… maybe 3.5 #WickedWords for March. I found a Summer Breeze but not a Sea Breeze 🌬️ most of them in the tagged book which really enjoyed. The style reminded me a bit of A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket especially as the main character is writing the things he experiences as the book goes on. 👍
I found Scar in Blood Bride which sadly I was more interested in the audio performances than the story itself. 👎
March #BookSpin / #BookSpinBingo / #ReadYourKindle Not a big reading month for me. I was glad to read the tagged book. If you are familiar with the term or subculture - Exvangelical well Blake coined the term and created this community that gave a lot of us who come from evangelical / religious trauma backgrounds a place to feel less insane. 🩷
Loving the series so far. The first in this series was an #AuldLangSpine pick. I knew I was in trouble when I got to the end credits and heard “and was produced in the year 2024”. 🫢😅 I don‘t typically find series while they are ongoing and was already ready to add book 3 to my TBR for March but it won‘t be here till August 🥲🎻
At least August is closer now than when I wrote this in February 🤷🏻♀️ #LitsyAtoZ #LetterM
Found all but one of February‘s #WickedWords in the tagged book. Candles, but no damn candlesticks 😂 Also this book was a unique take on retelling Romeo and Juliet. I loved it. 🥹
Extremely heavy content wise but so good. Definitely prepare for a book hangover over with this one. It‘s post apocalyptic/ dystopian and the main character is a trans boy who escaped their christofascist cult who are trying to force him back into the fold. If they ever make it into a graphic novel it would be incredible with the right artist. I loved this Letter From the Author. ⬆️
“Book written by an LGBTQ+ author” for #TBRTarot
February #BookSpin / #BookSpinBingo / #ReadYourKindle ♥️ Two Can Play was my “Someplace Cold” #FictionalTraveler pick and my “book where the setting is cold/icy” for #TBRTarot. I ended up DNFing ACOTAR for #LittensLoveRomance 🫣 But I might try it again at some point. Maybe romantasy just isn‘t my thing. #LitsyAtoZ More on Hell Followed With Us in the next post. It was also my favorite for February.
So.. I have not been in a reading slump, but I have been in a Litsy posting slump. Get ready for a 5 month recap and hopefully I can stay consistent for the last half of 2025! #BookSpinBingo #LitsyAtoZ #TBRTarot #LittensLoveRomance
Bahaha 😂 book takes place in Georgia, btw.
Just might shamelessly use this bingo board as an excuse to get takeout later 🫣
Sharing some Dewey‘s Readathon graphics/challenges
Tentative TBR for Dewey‘s Readathon. I am hoping to read at least 3 books in 3 formats but we‘ll see. I‘m also early voting at the library this morning so I might find something shiny there and ignore these 🤣
Anyone doing the @DeweysReadathon that starts tomorrow? I have been trying to get a working link to their discord but haven‘t been able to get a response even though they are actively posting on IG. I can‘t tell if I‘m too young or too old to work out discord 🤣 anyways I‘m trying dammit. And hopefully I can finally catch up my Litsy feed this weekend. I‘ve been sucked down the doom scroll brain rot elsewhere lately 😵💫
Reading this in 2025 is something else. ❤️🩹
✨ Also I am criminally behind on Litsy posting 🫣 and have been MIA for a bit. Hoping to catch up this weekend. ✨
My pretties are here! The only Valentines I need 🥰ok but send chocolate.. and pickles
Just realized I never put up a review for Slewfoot which was my second book read for #AuldLangSpine I really loved it. Peak feminine rage. Would be a great read for spooky season.
I found 3 of January‘s #WickedWords in Slewfoot and the other 2 in How Not to Die Alone aka Something to Live For.
Ok #LittensLoveRomance I know we are done with this one but I came across this on IG and immediately thought of Dom and just had to share 🤣 👨🏻🎓📜 https://www.instagram.com/reel/DFd_so2SK0o/?igsh=MTZ1N3UzamZmdTd0ZQ==
Muahaha my collection is almost complete!! So close to have all 3 BOTM editions of the ruinous love trilogy by Brynne Weaver. I also have the audio on preorder which is probably going to be my most anticipated read for February.
For the main book of this box I was a little undecided between First Time Caller and Famous Last Words. A lot of good choices for this month‘s box. 📞 🎪
I know this line was not meant to be read the way I just read it, but I am having a blast laughing my ass off regardless 🤣😈🫣
Just about 20% into Slewfoot and it‘s giving Myth side one / two vibes. I love it so much. I don‘t know if there are any littens here who are also fans of The Narcissist Cookbook but these albums just recently came out in December / January and it‘s a haunting combination of music and folklore style story telling and like this book so far, very eerie. #AuldLangSpine
This book was a lot of fun and my first book complete for #AuldLangSpine I think it‘s a good fit for people like me who often feel intimidated by the fantasy genre. This story was just so easy to get into. I didn‘t love that it ends on a cliffhanger but I feel like I am invested and will be continuing the series for #SerieLove2025 also I need more Kingsley 🤭🐸👑 #LitsyAtoZ #LetterA
So.. this book had been on my TBR since last year‘s #AuldLangSpine but as I am writing this I now realize the book on last year‘s list was actually the same title but a different author 😅
But it worked out and was a pick for me. I think fans of Emily Austin will enjoy it. Lots of dark humor and existential themes. Kind of Six Feet Under meets Dear Evan Hansen in terms of the pickle the main character puts himself in. ⬇️
In December I read You‘re a Mean One Matthew Prince by Timothy Janovsky. I couldn‘t get this chai cookie with eggnog icing out of my head so I finally made them. Loved Matthew and Hector baking together and Matthew being useless in the kitchen. Matthew was definitely giving David Rose from the “you just fold it in” scene from Schitt‘s Creek in terms of baking chops. 🤣 💯
I borrowed this one a little too early to follow the #LittensLoveRomance schedule but this was a great pick and I will be following the commentary on this one. Now I want to check this author‘s backlist. This is my second book by them. 🩷🎙️#LetterE #LitsyAtoZ #Jumpstart2025
Completed my first book of the year which was a belated Christmas gift. This book was fantastic and I love this author bio 😂 Letter D for #LitsyAtoZ #Jumpstart2025 #25Alive #TakeCharge
I just started the tagged book and didn‘t have a bookmark near me (shocking I know) so I pulled a card from my Good Omens deck. IX of Demons reversed (traditionally IX of swords) and I think the description here is just perfect for what this book is about 😄
Starting this one tonight and look I‘m in the dedication awww … wait what 😝
#12Booksof2024 December was a tough choice but it kind of worked out because A Very Snowed in New Year is not in the database yet, so I have tagged my favorite nonfiction from December. 🖤⚡️
