This is my first manga and it is taking me a bit of time getting used to the format. 🙃 Unrelated, I‘m heading to Dublin for the first time and wondered which bookstores are a must see? Anyone have some recommendations? I‘m all ears!!
pickThis was original and I really enjoyed it. I couldn‘t quite figure out why it‘s been banned. The premise is certainly violent, but it wasn‘t at all graphic, especially for something geared towards adults. Stopped at B&N yesterday and purchased Death Note! After watching the series on Netflix, I just knew I needed it! Have you watched or read it?
Trying my hand at manga and rewatching Schitts Creek for the millionth time and swooning over David and Patrick.
One of the best bookish gifts I have received was when someone on a litsy swap sent me a gorgeous deathnote notebook. It has ALL of the rules in the front, and names on some pages. Absolutely gorgeous! But I can‘t bring myself to write in it! (Just incase 😉)

pickThis was my first manga, and I definitely enjoyed it. Light finds a death god's notebook and discovers that any name he writes in it causes that person to die, so he sets about creating a better world where criminals are all dead. However he also starts using this power to ensure that he won't be caught, by killing the people who come looking for him. It's interesting and really well done, and I'm having a good time.
Here's my second #tbr for the #mangafreakathon! I was trying to avoid omnibus titles but #horror ones usually are?! With these I hope to get witch, evil laugh, monster, fav. villain, moon, forest, mask, running, and knife? Hmm, let's see #spooktober

Aside from a few aspects I didn't enjoy, regarding how the police are handling the Kira investigation, this was a great start. It's setting up the world pretty well and the story is very entertaining.
I'm going through a bit of a reading slump and I just picked up this manga in hopes of getting over it. The first chapter was super fun and I realized that I've forgotten many details from the anime. We'll see how it goes.

One thing I've become increasingly aware of is the way in which authors add information about their world. If it's done badly it can really kill my emersion in the story.
It's been so long since I read #manga but I just got an urge to do so tonight. I remember loving 'Death Note' in my early twenties, so it'll be interesting to see if it holds up a decade later.

pickI see why this is so popular. After Light Yagami finds a Death Note (a notebook belonging to a Shinigami death god) everything changes. Write someone‘s name in the book & they die—either by heart attack or a method the writer suggests. Light doesn‘t want to use it for evil. No, he wants to use it for good & so starts killing off criminals on his way to building a new utopia. When he becomes the hunted things get even more complicated. A good read.
It snowed this morning, the sun set at 4:36pm and the temperature is currently 26 degrees Fahrenheit and falling so yes, I am in my pjs, under the blankets and enjoying some reading therapy. I bought my husband the complete Death Note series a year or two ago when he started getting into anime (because a book is always better!) and he loved it. This week he gave me Volume 1 and told me I should read it. The howling winds outside say, “good idea!”
I'll soon be making posts about medical journals since that seems to be all I read nowadays!! So glad to have a little time to read some fiction today! Decided to give Deathnote a try since I've heard good things.
I'm so sorry, I've fallen completely off the radar again. My job has been keeping me completely swamped lately. If it weren't for audiobooks while driving/cooking/cleaning, I'd have no time for books at all, sadly.

pickI hadn't read this since high school, but it's every bit as dark, clever and morally ambiguous as I remember. Glad I hung onto it all these years, even though I got rid of the vast majority of my manga collection.

pickThis was my first manga. I must admit that I watched the Netflix movie first, but the manga is so much better! I love the dynamic between Light and Ryuk. I found the rules for using the Death Note fascinating. I will definitely continue reading this series!

Even though my expectations are not high, I am still looking forward to the live action adaption of Death Note (manga series) on Netflix this August 25th. I would've preferred a series rather than movie, but I'll take what I can get 👍

pickYeah, this is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me. The art is fabulous, the story is interesting, and there is never any confusion as to who is talking or the order of things. It is amazing.
