And so my journey through this series begins, I can already tell I‘m going to love it. Sneaky hints of magic, sinister baddies, and of course the romance! It‘s going to be a ride. Sarah J Maas knows how to build a world.

Mrs_B Also libraries are the BEST. I realised my hold came in for the next book 10 minutes before the library shut. I SPRINTED, and made it just as the librarian was locking the door. She was super nice and let me take it away. So grateful for libraries. 2w

I‘m on crown of midnight and I love it I read throne of glass first and then I read assassin‘s Blade but you could‘ve read assassin‘s blade first, that‘s how you‘re supposed to read it. I loved all the books so far and have given them all 5 stars and I could definitely see her writing and getting better and better the more I read. definitely cried at the end of assassin‘s blade.

I was intimidated to read this when I first started because there were lots of exclamation points But it was an amazing book and I‘m shocked because she started writing this book when she was 16! I felt like the main character really did not feel like an assassin But I‘m gonna read the prequel after this, I already have it, I‘m very excited

I get to hang out with a cat this week! Saki‘s a real sweetie. Yesterday he sat on my lap for a whole thirty seconds. #blessed

That happened while I finished the back half of THRONE OF GLASS. My feelings for this book have slid all around the spectrum. I wasn‘t impressed with my ARC, then I rather liked it when I reread it after I did like CROWN OF MIDNIGHT, then I loved it when I reread it ahead of KINGDOM OF ASH, and now I rather like it again.

I loved this book. I must say it did not affect me much emotionally, but I was hooked from the start. It was hard to put down throughout. It had my heart feeling like it was about to skip a beat at one point but it still lacked that huge emotional impact that characterizes SJM. I think I loved it most because of the story plot, and feeling like I relate to the main character‘s personality, or at least she reflects how I want to be:sweet and fierce

I went to Barnes & Noble today to go shopping for my birthday! 🎂 🥳 I already had Assassin's Blade and Throne of Glass, so just needed to get books 2-7. I will be reading them in this order, with Assassin's Blade first, and yes! I will also be doing the tandem read! Peep my crochet hooks in the back, lol

Missing the views but not the responsibility of being in charge on the sixth grade camp trip last week! Had some time to finish a couple of books though while sleeping little. 😂 One book completed there was Throne of Glass. Typical but solid YA fantasy—I enjoyed it. Tough, strong, smart protagonist gathering her allies while kicking butt. Celaena is a convicted assassin with a chance at freedom via an evil King‘s competition.

Books by Maas are usually picks for me and yet I kept putting this series off. I‘m happy I have finally listened to book 1. Great characters, world building and story. I‘ve put books 2 & 3 & 0.1-0.5 on hold. Now I just have to wait for them to come in vs buying them. 😳

MAAS 100% excels at giving you characters and quotes to die for ❤️❤️ I didn‘t think I could love anyone as much as I did Bryce but enter Celaena and I just loved everything about her from the start❤️ But can some one please tell me if I can get attached to Dorian and Choal? Or is this a Tamlin situation in the future? Also loved Celaena and Nehemia friendship❤️❤️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not bad, not overwhelming good. Maas knows how to use one whole book for world building. Which is my favorite part of any book. Celeana is an assassin brought to the Glass Castle -also don‘t like it- to fight to be the kings champion assassin. Adore her wit. We learn a lot about the kingdom and the lost magic. I see a love triangle coming. I like Chaol -no idea pronounce. Dorian gives odd vibes. Monster was crazy scary. Interested where story goes

4/5⭐️
The first of a series. This really surprised me! A lot of detail was put into the world building & story. I really enjoyed it overall! I did think the romance (while I appreciated it was clean) was quite flat despite a love triangle being one of the main elements. The ending is also not really....happy? Just "meh"? But it is a series...so you know that "the end" isn't a final destination. Not an incredible work of fiction but a fun read!

brittanyreads If you liked book 1 (I gave it maybe a 2.5 stars..) you're going to love the series!! The books just get better and better! Enjoy! 13mo
idealityandme @BrittanyReads thank you! That's really good to know! There were definitely things I didn't like too but compared to other books - this one stands out haha. So maybe my rating is generous. I'm excited to read more - but nervous about this love triangle🤦‍♀️ 13mo
brittanyreads 🤐🤐🤐 I'll say nothing!! Enjoy, I wish I could read it for the first time all over again! My only irk with book 1 was the writing mainly, but I'll give SJM a pass, it was her first book and I think I read somewhere she was 16/17 when she wrote it. 13mo
idealityandme @BrittanyReads okay that makes sense! It's actually really impressive for a 16/17 yr old! I have read worse from grown adults😅 13mo

After reading SJMs other series, I figured I would give this one a whirl even though I have tried to read it before. I‘m not quite as wild about this series as the others but I think this book is really setting up for some better reads later on. I enjoyed that this competition that she was in wasn‘t super forefront which I think left space for the main character to settle into the relationships that she will be involved in later. Onward!

'Throne of Glass' was definitely better than 'Assassin's Blade'. I'm beginning to realise that SJM has stock characters that make her series' all a bit samey...although, to be fair, they are good characters! Starting a reread of an all-time fave- 'The Time Traveler's Wife'. Am reading with my Senior Book Club in school 💛👍

I started and stopped this one in the past, but this time I powered through. I enjoyed it by the end, but I wasn‘t as caught up as I hoped to be. For a trained assassin, the main character felt very immature. What I‘m wondering is, does the series keep getting better? Is it worth continuing? I know that the first book is often the weakest in a series like this and I‘d love to hear feedback on if I should continue.

xicanti I wasn‘t wild about this one either, but I gave the series another chance and ended up loving many of the later volumes. The books are far from flawless, but when they work, they really pack a wallop. 1y

Given slavery or freedom, Celaena Sardothien chooses freedom-- the cost, a competition to see who can become the king's champion and personal assassin for hire. Not only must she compete against other ruthless assassins, but dark magic & jealously, too, as she catches the eye of the prince. YA & not as sensual as other Maas books such as A Court of Thorns and Roses.
