A beautiful story about finding lost loved ones that reminds us that there is so much to be learned about the way our world works than what we know, and that the mother child bond is boundless. Oh and the elephants are majestic.

Audiobook was very well done with each separate character personality. Otherwise, this is an incredibly heart wrenching mystery story of a girl looking for her mother. Though the ending twist came out of nowhere, with the hints only coming half way to me. The connection between elephants and human grieving processes was very well received. I also didn‘t know you could study grief.

I just loved this book. Thanks again, @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks for sending it to me! 💙🐘
Thanks to @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I was able to move this fantastic book up my TBR. I loved the characters, the story and, of course, all of the elephant info. I think my daughter will love this one, too so it‘s heading to her. Thank you again, Christine 💙🐘

Thank you so much, Misty 💙 I‘ve added this to my February #BookSpinBingo list. (I may not be able to wait that long to start it) The stickers & cards are fabulous. I found a Geronimo bookmark inside the book with interesting facts on the back. 🤓

Sending out some more #LitsyLove!! Be on the lookout @Read4life and @Escapinwithbooks 📚🎉🎊❤️ the letters are all international! I was finally able to get stamps! 💙🌎
#LitsyLove friends!! Who hasn‘t read this and wants to?! It‘s so well researched and one of my favorites 💙 🐘 I have an extra copy!! 📚📚📚
A horrible accident occurs @ an elephant sanctuary, leaving some to suspect murder. We‘re introduced to Jenna, who hasn‘t seen her mom since the accident and she leans on some interesting characters for help. We only get to see as much of the incident as their clues give us. Despite all the clues being given, I still was surprised towards the end…even though I picked up on other clues. Well written.
This book has it all: unpredictability, dual timeline, love story multi dimensions, and elephants as characters. The human journey is beautifully reflected in the elephants spanning the US and South Africa. One is easily engaged and swept up in the various twists and turns of the multilayered plot. The author skillfully reveals and communicates the inner working of a character and the subtle and intricate interactions among each main player.
God dammit, Jodi Picoult. This one was FANTASTIC but woof, another earth shaking plot twist. Passed this one along to my new neurology NP who did my first round of Botox for migraines today. 🤗
I‘ve never felt I *had* to read a Jodi Picoult until I recently saw talk here about this book. The plot summary intrigued me! This alternates researched information about elephants with the plot of a young child recruiting a psychic and a detective to help find her missing mom. The info about the elephants is poignant. Spoiler below is my thoughts only, but may affect *how* you read this book, if you still haven‘t yet!
I did not see that coming either @Reggie
Morning off!!!! I‘m enjoying this one much more than I thought I would. The elephant facts are fascinating! #axethestacks

Well, dang! What a crazy ride this is book was for me! There's a ton to unpack with this one. At first I really wasn't sure I was going to like this, because there's a lot of technical information about elephants and it got a little boring at times during those parts. The last few chapters really blew me away, though! I didn't see what was coming at all.. great ending! 4.5 star!
It took me a while to get into this one, but once I was about halfway in I didn‘t want to put it down. I definitely didn‘t see the ending coming. A really good read in the end, just a slow start!
Trying to get a chapter in before bed. I don't get much time to read during the work week. 😔
Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult
I'm just 100 pages in, but the elephant bits are making me sad, knowing how endangered and likely to become extinct they are. 😢💔
Just finished The Mortician's Daughter by Elizabeth Bloom and picked out Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult as my next read. I've seen pretty mixed reviews on it, some not so great, so I'm anxious to read it (and/or potentially abandon it, if I'm not feeling it) & get it in my donation pile, if that's the case. I have plenty of really good stuff waiting for me!
I love a good elephant story!
1) Yes! Jodi Picoult and I have her newest one ordered and plan to read it for #SundayBuddyRead 🎊📚
2) not particularly.. memorable one would be the one in One Day in December ❄️
3) maybe 30-40 🤷🏼♀️ My daughter on the other hand 🤦🏼♀️

In between a pick and so-so. Loved the part about elephants, and they were the reason I wanted to read the book. Otherwise it‘s one of the weirdest books I‘ve read. I also think it‘s important to write about mental health, but other than that... It‘s impossible to explain without spoilers.
This book was awesome. I was supposed to read it for #bookclub but never got around to it. They made me promise to read it anyway. I am so glad that I did.
Jenna's mother disappeared 10 years ago. Now she's 13 and decides to find her. She finds the detective that worked on her case and a psychic and convinces them to help her. And there's elephants. 🐘
I haven't read a ton by this author but this is exceptional.
The real struggle in life: which book to read next? Why do I have to make tough choices like this? 🤔
1. I had to double check my reading lists for this question!! I have read ten Jodi Picoult books and nine Stephen King so I tagged my favorite Jodi book.
2. Perfect night out that I can picture right now is having my fiancé and going for a trivia night with some buffalo wings and a Blue Moon! How fun does that sound?
3. Favorite book setting is North Carolina in any of the Nichols Sparks books.

Holy wow. This book had me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Brilliantly written and included some great facts about my favorite animal. 10/10
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫I liked how it was written, & it was a very engaging story. The mystery that happens at the elephant sanctuary was intriguing, and I enjoyed all the info about the elephants, their emotions, and the tie-ins those had with the humans in the story. The main part I didn‘t like was the ending, I was wishing for something different. So I‘m going with 3.5 stars because I think I was just personally a little disappointed, but it was a good book.
Jenna was three when her mother disappeared on the same day that her colleague at the elephant sanctuary was killed. Ten years later Jenna enlists the help of a P.I. and Psychic to try and find her mother.
This is quite a different book from the other books I've read by Jodi Picoult. Whilst I enjoyed it I think it could have been a bit tighter. I loved the bits about elephant and how they interact with their world.
Oh Jodi, Jodi, Jodi...https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2490458768
Sorry folks, I‘m still not over this book. It hit me, hard.
Highly recommend. Mine is a library copy, but my friend is buying this for me for my birthday (that edition has bonus novella, library copy doesn‘t). It will surely be my favorite birthday present🐘❤️
This book is a damn masterpiece. I loved every minute of it. I wish we were all elephants. Expect to cry and be horrified at what humans do to wild and captive elephants. We have a lot to learn from them. No, we have everything to learn from them. 5⭐️
If you have ever read Jodi Picoult, then you know she‘s a masterful storyteller that often throws an extremely unexpected twist in her stories. This novel is an example of how cleverly Picoult layers her stories. The suspense keeps you hooked and they payoff is sweet! I could have done with a bit less of the elephant facts, but Picoult does her research and shows it off here. I realize it is a realistic cause that deserves some recognition.
Really enjoyed this one. Appreciated learning more about elephants and how they grieve, liked the characters and the story. Couldn't put it down once I started.
#notsofavoriteauthor (I actually told my book group no more Picoult.) #gratefulreads @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620
