It's been soooo long since I've read anything from Charlaine Harris! I noticed I had missed her. This book wasn't as good as her other books I've read. I really liked the characters and there even were couple familiar ones from the Southern vampire series. I think this book would have needed a bit more stronger plotline but I did really like the town of Midnight and it's residents.

I really enjoyed this second book in the series. It seems like there was even more going on in this book than the first. There were a few things that didn't get explained, but I'm hoping it will all make sense after I read the third book.

DrexEdit Wasn't this made into a TV show once? Like one that only lasted a season or two? It sounds so familiar but I don't think I've ever read the books 3y
CoffeeNBooks @DrexEdit Yes, I didn't realize until I started reading the books that they made a TV show based on them. 3y

⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is the second in the Midnight Texas series, and I think I liked it more than the first. Probably because I've grown to like the characters of the town. I also liked that it included a couple familiar faces from the Sookie Stackhouse books. The narrator did a great job with the audio (I especially enjoy her Mr. Snuggly voice 🐱).

thegirlwiththelibrarybag I swore off reading CH after growing tired of the Sookie/Southern Vampires series… but I watched the show when I was visiting a friend in England and it was just so deliciously not good (and I mean that in a complimentary way) that I ended up reading the books to see what happened… and I had a good time! 4y

It‘s been a little over a year since Manfred moved to Midnight. He‘s finally feeling at home and sets up an in person reading session for a long weekend in Dallas. Things go well until a a tragic set of events happen and he gets accused of a crime he didn‘t commit. At the same time, the hotel in Midnight is remodeled and brings a new round of mystery to the town along with several new residents.

Finally getting back into this series as well as physically reading. I‘ve been doing so much audiobooking lately that I‘m actually excited to do a physical read right now 🙌

Hopefully starting a new book will distract me from the heat we are getting this week 🥵

#bookishmap #paranormal

Sace I've been doing audiobooks so much that I think I'm forgetting how to read the printed word 😂 5y
Schnoebs @Sace you and me both. I remember the first being such an easy but fun read that I thought I would try the sequel to get me back in the physical mood. Not gonna lie though, I did look to see if my library had the audiobook 😂 5y
Sace @Schnoebs I've also found myself looking to see if the library has the audio of physical books I have. Apparently I can follow along and listen too. But just sitting and reading? Nah. 5y
Schnoebs @Sace happy I‘m not alone with being able to do the following along while listening bit struggling with the very simple task of reading with my eyes 5y

This was an okay mystery but I didn't love the crossover attempt and frankly there was a lot missing.

Vexingcircumstance Yeah the character crossovers in the first book of this series felt a little forced early on but I DID enjoy the book and the town so I got past it. 6y

This book surprised me on two levels; firstly, I got right into the story and enjoyed every moment of it (compared to the first book which I struggled with). I honestly didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. Second, though I'd heard there was a connection between this series and the southern vampire mysteries, I didn't expect to fall down the rabbit hole into the Sookie-verse again! Now I'm wanting to start rereads!! 😂

This book was even better than Midnight Crossroad. As soon as I began reading I was hooked. The new story immediately caught my attention. The introduction of a new mysterious character who that seemed to grow overnight was pretty cool. I love how his story was woven into the main story as a character that continued to be a mystery. The small tidbits about Deidrich never felt out of place in the storyline. #charlaineharris #dayshift #midnighttexas

Isn‘t it weird that the Rev is a weretiger and he‘s described as “small and slight” on numerous occasions, whereas Quinn and his son are very large men? I suppose you can be small and slight and still be a weretiger, but since it‘s a large animal, the larger build makes more sense. His eyes are yellow, too, and not purple, which is why I didn‘t guess he was a weretiger. Maybe he‘s a shifter? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hopefully it‘s explained at some point.

A great sequel that answered questions that lingered and left more to be answered! I have truly enjoyed this series so far and find the vast differences between the book and the TV series refreshing. The book is so much better and has more things going on than the TV Series! If you like Sookie, you'll like this series as well! Plus you get to meet an old character from a Sookie book! The secrets of the people in Midnight are slowly being revealed!

Deeper dive into the town & some of the characters' backstories. One of Manfred's clients dies & he gets caught up in the ensuing fallout with Olivia somewhat reluctantly helping out. Meanwhile the abandoned town hotel is being mysteriously renovated. Bonus if you loved the Sookie Stackhouse series & 🐯Quinn--he appears in Midnight. 😍This book's plot deviates the most from the tv series-or I guess it's the other way around. Not my fave but good.

drokka I reckon this book's plot will feature on the show if they're renewed for a second series/season, given how the first series ended. 7y
