This was lovely, funny, warm, fuzzy and wholesome and I loved it! Kindness is so underrated! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Now I know why this has been recommended to me over and over by friends and strangers alike. I think this engaging and introspective novel is an allusion to the story of Jesus in the Bible and Ed Kennedy (the MC) to be a conflicted and reluctant Christ-figure (much like Harold Fry in The Unlikely Pilgrimage of HF-though he was more Pilgrim‘s Progress). I read it during an 8 hour road trip which made time fly! Book hangover!! 5/5⭐️ #LMPBC #GroupT

For a debut novel that was followed by one of the best books to be written this century, this was quite good!
I just finished reading this one and wow! This was very beautiful! I highly enjoyed Ed's quest in being a messenger and touching people's lives. It had me wondering who was behind everything and had me anticipating each message. I am not so sure about the ending though. I don't think I fully understand it. 4.5⭐️

Hard to focus on my book when I'm being stared at.
Note: Ebony likes to place her bed between the living room and the office so she can keep an eye on me and my husband (who works remotely) at the same time.
A mixed bag for me. Balance of passages that were easy/difficult to read. The message is important, but the pay off to the mystery, the framework that sets the protagonist on his journey of good deeds and self-discovery is pretty weak. The will-they, won't-they with the love interest is kind of exhausting, and the protagonist's perspective on the teenage girl footracer is trying for platonic and objective but still feels creepy at times.
One day, Ed witnesses a pathetic bank robbery and stops the robber. Since that time, Ed begins to receive an Ace from the card deck with a list of people to give a message to. Each one is different from the next as Ed moves forward with these weird requests.
An enjoyable short novel written by the author of one of my favorite books.
Book 75
I listened to I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak, the author of The Book Thief. It's funny, lighthearted, and poignant. From an anonymous source, the protagonist, Ed, receives playing cards. He must use the scant information written on them to determine who to help and how to help them. It's a feel-good, uplifting novel everyone should read. 4.5 stars
The first chapter is the absolute best chapter of this book; however, I still really enjoyed listening to this one! I know that if I were given some of the messages and tasks, I would have never been able to figure them out or complete them. A very interesting book! 80 points plus 10 for a book about best friends for #littenlisten plus it‘s letter #z for #litsyatoz
Last year, I read "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. Because I enjoyed that book so much and at the recommendation of a friend, I decided to pick this book up by the same author. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had an interesting plot with some unpredictable twists and turns, some pleasant, some not so much, but they all came together to offer a beautiful ending. It was an easy and enjoyable read, "compulsively readable" as stated on the cover.
Ed Kennedy is a bit of a loser-an underachieving cab driver who stinks at cards and is hopelessly in love with his best friend Audrey. Shortly after he stops a bank robber the Aces start coming. And everything changes. I loved this! It was my #bookspin book for September @TheAromaofBooks
Also letter Z for #litsyAtoZ

I loved this book and took my time reading it. The characters will drag you in, each one is a message that Ed Kennedy has to deliver, he has no clue as to who is giving him the Aces with clues for him to find. I have to say, I haven't read a book that I wanted to read slowly in a while.
Well, like The Book Thief, this book ripped my heart out, but in a completely different way. Definitely on my to buy list now. 5 star
Y'all, I'm really digging I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak! Just as good as The Book Thief. ❤️🤓📚 I have maybe a quarter of the book left.
I sure hope I enjoy Bridge of Clay as well.
Finally received my first curbside library pick up order. I hope I like both as much as The Book Thief ❤️

“....... if a guy like you can stand up and do what you did for all those people, well, maybe everyone can. Maybe everyone can live beyond what they‘re capable of. Maybe even I can.”
This book rocked me! Such a powerful message about how even the most ordinary, unassuming people can change the tiny part of the world they live in. Beautiful! Thank you again, @Deardaze ♥️♥️ Really loved this!!
Another great book by Zusak! Didn't think it would be as good as The Book Theif, but I'd say it's on par with it. The plot was great and the characters were well thought out.
Going to start the first of the three books I got for #SantaThing. I really liked The Book Thief, so hopefully this one is great too. 🤞

@Deardaze eek, thank you! This second #santathing package showed up today ♥️ Thanks again for the wonderful books! Happy holidays to you ♥️♥️
Work's letting us bring in books as the work load quietens down for the winter so Zusak and Oswald the otter are keeping me company 😂
📚 I need to reread this one.

The husband and I met Markus Zusak tonight. He is super nice and funny, also he is Australian so listening to him read a passage from The Bridge of Clay was no hardship. 😍

Not sure how I feel about the ending, but it was a really enjoyable read. Totally different from The Book Thief, but nonetheless a book well worth your time. I should get to Bridge of Clay soonish I guess - but there are so many other books to read....
Ok, so - snaps and kudos to #LitsyAtoZ!
I picked this up to score a #Z for my list — and left with a great read that made me think and a new author to look into. Bravo, Bravo!
Highly recommend. ♦️♣️♠️♥️

Bridge of Clay has been sitting on my shelf unread since it‘s publication week, and it has been obviously more than a year. So I figured I should at least narrow my unread Zusaks down to one. So far, it‘s really heartwarming and funny.
I am taking #LitsyAtoZ very seriously. Only picked this one out to cross Z off my list. #LetterZ #Z
This book had a very perfect start and a good enough ending! The word building was great and the narration was amazing. The premise was pretty interesting and I was very much intrigued to follow the lead throughout his journey with the cards and clues but somehow in the middle of the story, I felt the pace slow down and it took a great deal of patience from me to complete the book. The author is still my fav
I went to Kerrville to hang out with my sister @hollynations today I acquired these after a stop to a bookstore and a few antique shops. 📚🤑
An easy read with a complex story. There's not much I can say without giving away details but I will say that if you feel like you're worthless or you need a self confidence boost or a reality check I recommend reading this book. You'll see how greatly you may impact someone else's life and it may help you make a shift in your own life.
At first, I felt hopeless reading this book, then I realized the whole point. We can bring comfort and happiness by simple acts of kindness. But we first have to pay attention to the people around us. We have to notice their pains and struggles. We have to prioritize the health of humanity over our selfish perceptions and ways that we disagree. We need to treat others like they're important, and we need to help one another. Even in simple ways.
A young cabdriver named Ed. He is in love with his best friend Audrey, drinks coffee with his dog, and plays cards with his friends. Nobody thinks he‘ll amount to much. He happens to be at a bank that gets robbed, stops the robber, and then the first ace arrives in his mailbox. Great read!
My second read of this I realised when I started it. I enjoyed it and loved the messages. Heard that a friend‘s daughter studied it at high school . Would be great for that. I can imagine the discussion it could generate. He is becoming another great Aussie writer.👏👏👏 @MrsMalaprop
An extraordinary book about and ordinary man. Finished after a lovely afternoon.
Needed something to read on the train ride back to nyc so I‘m giving this one a reread!
I want words at my funeral.
But I guess that means you need life in your life.

The plot was violent and I‘m not a huge fan of that, but the dog. The dog. I fell in love with the dog. He was a minor character but I also enjoyed the main character and his struggle. Overall I really like Zuzak‘s sweetness as a writer-the love he has for his flawed characters.
