Grace and Fury | 
so-soThis YA book had some positive qualities but in the end I can only give it a so-so. It felt rushed, and while the sisters were dramatically different people and personalities, there was no distinction in their voice as the story was told from their alternating viewpoints.
so-soI'm not quite sure how I feel about this book. I got super invested at the end of the book but it was a little slow in the beginning. #owlcratebook
pickI choose pick even though the book was kind of dull in the beginning but it really did hold up.
so-soThis was...okay. Not terrible but also not that notable among YA fantasy. I did like that the worldbuilding & backstory was simpler & not 50 layers of convoluted BS. But somehow the chapters w/Serina were kinda boring even tho you have ppl fighting to the death (a trope I‘m tired of TBH), & Nomi is supposed to be smart & yet didn‘t see the most obvious “twist” ever. Will wait to see what others think of the next one, I might still try it. 2/5 ⭐️

It isn‘t a choice when you don‘t have the freedom to say no. A yes doesn‘t mean the same thing when it‘s the only answer you‘re allowed.
TBH I‘m not expecting much from this one. I got it in an Owlcrate box last year and it‘s not something I would have picked up on my own because it sounds a bit formulaic. But hopefully it‘ll at least be a fun fast read! (And apparently even though plenty of people I follow are posting just fine, Litsy doesn‘t want me to add an image. Which is annoying because the Owlcrate exclusive cover is really cool! 😠)
pickOne of those books that needs a silly tagline, like “Cinderella meets the Hunger Games“ or something. I knew Nomi would be named Grace while Serina was demoted to handmaiden. Inevitable. I didn't expect Serina's literally fighting to survive her island prison. Nor did I expect the themes of sisterhood & the ways women adapt to survive. I foresaw some twists, but overall a fun way to explore the different faces women wear. Excited for the next.
Here‘s the book I‘m starting from months ago on top of the books I bought in the last month or so and probably won‘t read for weeks. Whoops 🤷🏻♀️
bailedThis book was shallow, almost no world building, the characters were very bland and the world was just this ugh place where women had no rights at all.
Reading this book for my May The_Shared_Shelf read (Instagram account) and just love this book dedication!

pickFinished 12/31/18. I would give this 4 stars. I like the dual POVs and how each girl had their lives turned upside down and had to learn how to survive and cope in that new element, and ultimately find how to be and how to change either for the worst or better. The reason I docked a star was because I felt like Nomi didn‘t have that much growth and was a bit annoying.

pickYA dystopian fiction has become a genre with its own tropes and cliches in the last few years. Initially I didn‘t think I would like this because it used ALL of the typical tropes of this subgenre, but I ended up getting really into it. It‘s well written and the characters are believable, likeable, and multi faceted. Looking forward to the sequel.
pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 You know you are reading an awesome book when you are half way through and already wonder if/when the second book in the series will be available. This book has me on the edge of my seat and constantly trying to guess what would happen next. While some twists were predictable, others were not. Needless to say, I cannot wait for book #2 to come out.

so-so✨I didn't think I'd like this at all, and while it's definitely not one of my favorites, I did really enjoy it towards the end and will probably read the next one. It's empowering and actually pretty relevant towards today's society. 📚
pickJust finished this yesterday, and I have to say that I‘m surprised at how much I came to like it. From what I‘d heard about it my expectations weren‘t exactly skyrocketing. But I did, I liked it. I got the impression it would be a very girly, one dimensional endeavour, BUT:
It‘s family bonds.
It‘s desperately survinig a new an vulnerable position in a world of political power games.
It‘s a feministic rebellion against a patriarcal tyranny.
Starting book number 57 today. This was a book I received from my Owlcrate subscription box and so far I‘m interested. It starts off kinda dramatic and I am all for it lol looking forward to reading all day today!
pickThis straddles somewhere between a 3 and 3.5 stars which may seem low but it honestly wasn't terrible and I'm definitely going to pick up the sequel. I loved the message and plot. My real hold back is that I...who am blindsided by EVERY movie and book plot twist could see the ending coming since the first page! I kept screaming at the one girl being like "HOW ARE YOU SO STUPID?!"
Anyway, very curious about the sequel after that ending.
pick4⭐'s. This was so good! I didn't know what to expect when I started it, it's set in a time where women are lesser and but allowed to do anything they want. They can't even read. These 2 sisters might change everything though.
I'm officially ready for my work conference this week where I'm doing MG & YA recs. Got a whole 1.5 hours to start reading Grace and Fury before heading to work!
pickI got a very The Selection vibe from the beginning from this book but it very quickly takes a different turn. I loved Nomi right from the beginning, she is a wild free spirit, without a doubt! and Serina, I grew to love her as she came out of her perfect little shell. I really enjoyed this book and loved the storyline and how Tracy built it. I was absorbed instantly!

received this in my August #OwlCrate delivery. Reviews painted it as Game of Thrones meets Handmaids Tale through a YA lens and I think that‘s fair.
Overall, I became much more invested in the future of these sisters (esp Serina) than I expected to be, although I wish more of Nomi‘s “fury” was fleshed out. I‘m excited to see where Tracy Banghart takes this story next in the next book!

This months #owlcrate was both amazing & disappointing. Disappointing because it‘s the same book as last months #fairyloot, amazing because the swag is so good! I love the tea towel with the quote from Throne Of Glass, the mirror compact with The Belles quote, the beautiful agate ring & the 3 witches magnetic bookmarks. But my favourite is the tin keepsake book with the absolutely gorgeous artwork & quote by Holly Black. It‘s sooo amazing! 8.5/10
