Hard to pick with so many to choose from! Went with some of my favorite YA fantasy female authors and 3 series I always recommend.
This thing was a confusing, 🍪 cutter mess.
This was okay. Felt like a light fun fantasy. I dont think I got invested in the characters enough to continue the series though
Wonderful start to this series. The people of Lumatere go through great suffering but their fierce love for each other and their homeland make for a very emotional book. Be warned the book deals with some pretty dark material regarding the brutal effects of war on women and families.
Shunned from his homeland Lumatere for 10 years because of a #curse, this is the story of Finnikin's journey back. Loved, loved, loved this trilogy. #CoolBooks
I was completely underwhelmed with this one. There was nothing new, no surprises and I didn‘t even like the characters. Sadly reading it was pure torture!
Overall I would say I enjoyed this book, but there were times where I was a little confused with the way the story was laid out. The story of a cursed land and an exiled people. Character-driven and very dark in places. It does a great job of portraying the displacement of the people, but some of the fantasy was lacking. And I‘m still not entirely sure how I felt about the main couple, sometimes I liked them, sometimes not!
⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
I loved the Lumatere Chronicles, it is one of my favourite fantasy series and I highly recommend it! They're so wonderfully written and emotionally-charged. This series is so underrated, but it's well worth the read if you like magic, romance and adventure stories with a little bloodshed and characters you will absolutely love 🙌
This is absolutely my favorite book, if you haven't read it yet it is completely worth the time. The characters are strong and well developed. It's awe inspiring and makes you feel so much 🤧

Well...onto the next book! Time for some fantasy after a contemporary!
This series is my absolute favourite book series of all time. This book follows the story of Finnikin and Evangelin - but it is so much more than that. A love story, a story about wars and kings, this book explores thoughts of forgiveness, hatred, family, belonging and so much more.
The love I have for this series has no bounds and I highly recommend it for anyone needing a good story! #books #bibliophile #melinamarchetta
It was a rollercoaster ride.

One of my favorites!

“Somehow, even in the worst of times, the tiniest fragments of good survive. It was the grip in which one held those fragments that counted.”
― Melina Marchetta, Finnikin of the Rock
#brokedownpalace #junetunz This was a hard challenge! I'm going with Finnikin's journey back to Lumatere after ten long years. Back to the kingdom put under a curse after the royal family was murdered.
Some early morning reading on a Saturday with my best bud. This is my idea of a perfect morning. I hope all my litsy friends are have a great start to the weekend. #litsypartyofone #bostonsoflitsy
Melina Marchetta's my fave #australianauthor
I love all her contemporary books but the YA fantasy Lumatere Chronicles is the series I never fail to recommend. #feistyfeb
Teen book club holiday edition. Discussing Finnikin of the Rock at our local cupcake shop. I started this club almost 5 years ago and I still have the same kids come every month. ❤️
Been on my TBR list forever!!! Good deal today!!! #fantasy #finnikinoftherock #booknerd #bookbub
"Finn?" Moss asked again, and then something else seemed to occur to him. "Did you tell her to go get your..." He swung around to where the others stood.
"Blessed day," he murmured. "Oh, blessed day."
September is right in the middle of Birthday Season, that time of year when just about everyone I know has a birthday. There has been much cake and not nearly enough reading. Mt TBR is wildly out of control, mostly thanks to an influx of books for the #AurealisAwards, and my #ReadMyOwnDamnBooks stats continue to slip.
Check out my blog for the full report.
Melina Marchetta is one of my favorite YA and fantasy authors. This trilogy is heart wrenching all the way through. And her world is full of lore and prophesies so rich you can almost taste them. #mapsinbooks #somethingforsept
Be prepared for the worst, my love, for it lives next door to the best.
If you're wondering where to start with Melina Marchetta's writing, I wrote something on Book Riot that can help you with that: http://bookriot.com/2016/08/11/reading-pathways-melina-marchetta/
Completely blown away by this book. I've been in a slump for months, and haven't really fallen in LOVE with a book since A Court of Mist and Fury. My goodness. High fantasy at its finest. So ready to start the next book, which everyone says is even better. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ETA: THE CHARACTERS. Omg, the characters. Incredible.
Totally blown away with this book. This heavy fantasy story has beautiful writing and wonderful characters. I really enjoyed it and cannot wait to pick up book two! All of the stars to this book!
Holy Moly this is amazing!!
I really enjoyed this fairy-tale-esque story about regaining a lost kingdom and coming to terms with who you are meant to be.
I have heard AMAZING things about Finnikin, and I'm super excited to read it! This was my final OTSP Secret Sister book (it was dog themed). Have any of you read Finnikin? What did you think?
