The Woman on the Orient Express | Lindsay Jayne Ashford
Hoping to make a clean break from a fractured marriage, Agatha Christie boards the Orient Express in disguise. She isn't the only passenger with secrets-- her cabinmate, Katharine Keeling, is fleeing a failed marriage and running toward a relationship mired in deceit. Nancy Nelson is desperate to conceal her pregnancy from her new husband-- who isn't the father. As the train speeds down the track, their lives intersect-- with lasting repercussions.

I find the subject of Agatha Christie‘s mysterious 11 day disappearance fascinating so I will probably read ALL the books on the topic. The Christie Affair doesn‘t come out until February 2022 so I‘ll have time to tackle the other two first.

I enjoyed this. It's fiction, but (very) loosely has a factual base. As in Agatha Christie really rode the Orient Express. And her 2nd husband is in this book.

Meh. Melodramatic dilchwater characters, largely focusing on poor relationship choices, and framed with blatant emotional manipulation. I liked reading the historical, multicultural setting -- lots of details! -- but was bored with the lily-white cast.

This book had some interesting parts but in general just a mediocre story! Diverse characters and wonderful descriptions of the countryside and cities that the orient express passes are the best parts of this story. The pace was a bit slow for me.

The tagged book is a fictionalized account of the wonderful Dame Agatha‘s journey she took on the Orient Express.... I recently picked up the audio version on sale after seeing some great reviews on GR....

Even though it took me 28 years to get to my first Agatha Christie novel, Ms. Christie has long intrigued me. Ever since I read about the real-life gone girl I‘ve been meaning to read her works and read about her! So after finishing Murder on the Orient Express, I dived head-first into this one. After this I have a few booklet obligations to read but I plan to tackle a biography perhaps next? Any recommendations for Agatha Christie biographies??

This book is about Agatha Christie when she took a train, The Orient Express from London, England to Baghdad in 1928. A lot of the story is fictionalized but some if the facts are true. I think the author did a great job with researching Agatha Christie. I know there are a lot of Littens reading Agatha Christie right now, I think this book will be a great addition to add to your TBR‘s. I gave this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An entertaining and clever novel that blends the dramatic, adventurous real life of Agatha Christie with a fictionalised storyline. I was surprised that it wasn't really a mystery but Ashford's descriptions of the settings are vivid and lovely and the plot intricate and interesting enough to keep the pages turning nicely

I liked the idea for this, but it was a bit dry and confusing in parts. I wanted the plot to be more compelling than what it was and there were a lot of characters to keep track of. But, overall, I did like the characters and the story. It was just okay though for me.

Great view from where I am working this week but 14 hour days = very little reading and zero Litsy time 😢. I did however manage to finally finish Woman on the Orient Express. I was expecting a mystery since Agatha Christie is a character. I kept waiting for something to happen and it never did! I did enjoy it however. The relationship between the three female characters and their relationships to the men in their lives kept me reading.

It is pretty well known that I am a total Agatha Christie fangirl & her books are a big part of why I love reading so much. So when I heard about this title, I immediately added it to my TBR list. I absolutely loved it! It manages to blend Christie's real-life story with a fictionalized account of her friendship with two women seamlessly. The characters were wonderful. The setting was beautiful. Simply put: I couldn't put this down.

For book based on Agatha Christie it has a scandalous lack of mystery. However, the drama was great and the story progression was very solid. If you liked Downton Abbey, you'll like this book. I'm only rating it as so-so because of the lack of spine tingling mystery when the plot is all about Agatha Christie on the actual Orient Express. C'mon, man!!!

This historical fiction falls squarely into the genre of "women's fiction" in the best way: it explores the relationships between women, their connections to the men in their lives, and ways to deal with grief and loss. A good amount of historical detail, a vividly drawn setting, and an interesting characterization of A. Christie as a scorned wife dealing with her ex-husband's remarriage make this novel notable enough to overlook the pat ending.

A conversation about marriage, on the eve of one character's wedding, as she talks with a newly divorced Agatha Christie and another woman who abandoned her marriage and is secretly pregnant by her lover... not hearts and roses, is it?

Bookwm85forever I've been married for 26 years. It's hard work but totally worth it. It's the everyday day things you do for one another and experience together that make a marriage. We have 5 kids all about a year apart and the first few years were rough. Laughing together is so much better than fighting. 7y
merelybookish I think marriage is hard and making it work requires a lot. In general, I dont feel we have honest conversations about it. So that's a striking passage! 7y

literarymermaid While I don't agree on the number of truly happy marriages, I do agree that you can't truly know until you're married. Things change, little things at first, but they get bigger. Real selves start to come out in a great ways, when you're lucky. I've been unlucky once and am still lucky on this one, 10 years in. But I agree that its hard and that it's hard to really know who you're marrying. 7y
