A solid short thriller with a fun twist. Best to go in knowing nothing. 4⭐️

Talk about the good… Now it‘s bring on the bad and boy was it bad this month. I ended up choosing 2, and it could‘ve been more, based off the grooming behaviors these 40 year old man had with 18 year old girls. Maybe it‘s because I‘m not into age gaps like this, or because I‘m a social worker, but this is gross. No judgment if it‘s your thing, just not for me. However, still going strong for the worst book of the year is The Grownup.
Thank you @CSeydel , this was exactly what I needed to track the worst book that I read for 2024. January worst book was easy pick, as I was thoroughly disappointed in this book. #BookBracket #WorstBookOfTheYear
2.8⭐️ this one was bizarre. Super short, super quick read. It just didn‘t sit well with me. It was OK, just wasn‘t my favorite.
Con artist finds herself in a haunted home. Or does she? A vivid & darkly funny novella. The opening is a little over-the-top, and the R-rated first paragraph probably shouldn‘t be listened to without headphones, but the story is interesting, possibly ghostly, and then twists. #ghoststories #crime #novella #TeamWhoYaGonnaCall #audiobook
A really quick GREAT little story! Amazing find
Book #28
4.5/5
I've read all of Flynn's books to date, and thoroughly enjoyed them. Gone Girl was SO much better than the movie made it seem, and I actually found her other books better than Gone Girl. The Grownup is a short story. Flynn's writing is so good at drawing the reader in, and I loved it. My only criticism is that it should not have been a short story!
This is a very twisty short story. I loved the suspense and almost gothic theme, but the ending let it down for me.
I read on my lunch break today. So I would recommend it if someone wanted a quick read to pass an hour.
A twisty, creepy short read from Gillian Flynn. An unnamed female narrator manipulates people every day in her job - giving hand jobs to wealthy men to reading people's "auras". The middle part of this short read was where the Flynn magic really kicked in,it was definitely very creepy and left me wondering just what kind of thriller was I reading! Whilst a short read it was still a scary psychological thriller with twists I didn't anticipate.⭐⭐⭐⭐
Listened to this one during a walk w my dog. Rly cool story, short but well thought out and succinctly written. Very Gillian Flynn-ish!
48/22 I feel like I should of waited til October for this one really but it was calling me now. I really enjoyed this short story about a psychic fake psychic and a maybe haunted old house. I can‘t say too much but Flynn packs a lot in to 79 pages and it left me wanting more. Definitely one to pick up if you need to get out of a slump. An extremely quick, intriguing and enjoyable read. Plus I love an unexpected opening line 😂
I was loving it up until the end... Still, if you love Gillian Flynn as much as I do you'll quite enjoy the writing! She paints an amazing picture and has such interesting characters. So, even though the ending wasn't for me, I had fun reading it :)
I always wondered why people ask me for directions anywhere... Apparently the author of gone girl knows why...
Hotel room in the country side and my partner telling me 'you will only need an hour to read this'.. We will see ;)
A lot happens in this short book. It starts out pretty funny then takes a turn. There‘s a lot of twists and creep factors throughout and it definitely didn‘t end how I thought!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Nice quick little read. I love a good suspenseful story that could be paranormal, could be crazy human!
Definitely a quick little read that was pretty fun. However I don‘t like how the plot twist was twisted….if that makes sense? It made the ending lame.

Since the book I just bailed on put me in a week long slump going to read something short so I can feel accomplished and get back on track 😅
Ehh…this was just okay. I liked the basic plot, but the overall story was underwhelming and kind of silly.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ • A good spooky day re-read.
A perfect little creepy novella for a 2 hour flight.
Quick and easy to read so I jumped right in!
I love Gillian Flynn and this short story is just WTF enough to make it fun.
Not sure who I'm sending this to, but it's heading out this weekend!

Intriguing read. 📚📖
Messy yet entertaining. A great short read #lmpbc
Do I love ghost stories? Why yes I do! Do I love stories that seem to be about ghosts but may not be? Why yes I do!!! Do I love references to these kinds of stories within the story I'm reading?! Hell yes!!!
Quick, entertaining, twisty- perfect for this upcoming season!
Thanks @ShelleyBooksie and looks like I may send this one early @BookishTrish

I found the audio & e-book version of this book and started with the audio. I didn‘t realize it was a short story. I was getting into it and then it wrapped up. It is a quick read with Gillian‘s twists that she loves.
Litsy mail call. Going in the post tomorrow - #lmpbc: @runswithscissors007

This was a strange read, partially because I amn't used to short stories. Aside from that, it read like multiple different stories, starting with a self-confessed con artist describing how she works, then a great creepy middle section that's a little "The Turn of the Screw"-esque, but the ending was quite disappointing to me. 3⭐
I read this book in about half an hour. The first paragraph was titillating and instantly caught my attention. It was a topsy turvy story and I still have no idea what the truth is!
This is a short story. A twisted psychological thriller. Miles gives Damien a run for his money. A very creepy read.
I got this awhile ago from BOTM,a free gift. Never read it until today.
Thanks #botm

Short and spicy! ⭐️ for Gillian Flynn
So I wear the name as a badge of honor. That someday I may not totally bore some really smart people. The question is: How do you find smart people? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I enjoyed this creepy short story. It keeps you guessing throughout and after turning the last page. Not everyone will be satisfied with the ending.

I love Gillian Flynn what a amazing short story. I was totally creeped out. #TeamSlaughter #scarathlon
@Clwojick 2 points for team theme
I try to read at least one horror type book in October every year. It isn‘t a genre that I love but have found some gems on occasion. Thought I would give this one a try. It has been awhile since I read a “ghost” story.
I‘m not so sure about the ending...
This short story had me gripped for about the first half. An “aura reader,” psychic, and professional at hand jobs (yes literally) has met potentially her match.
A woman begs her to help with her son who is simply evil. Something is really off at home... but could there be more hidden beneath the surface?
That ending left me wanting much more closure. Wish it could have lived up to the rest of the book.
This quick ghost story—or is it?—had me guessing until the very end and beyond. You don‘t know who or what story to believe. Every version seems plausible...
Wow. Super quick read, very well paced and true to Flynn‘s style keeps you guessing. I‘d love to hear what others think on this one..
